Gives the extra layer of warmth. Pockets are large and fit is great. I am normally a 6-8 and often am more likely to wear a medium for the layers. The small was a better fit than the medium - plenty of room for a sweater underneath. I like that it covers my butt.

Best vest ever! Blue color is perfect with jeans, or paired with black pants. Zips effortlessly, is warm but not too warm. The stretchy black side panel looks nice and allows for stretchy comfort when zipped. I just ordered one in black because i love it that much.

I have been looking for primaloft outerwear in plus sizes. This vest is great! Personally, I could do without the hood, but I wanted primaloft, so I bought it anyway. Now if LLB would just make their packable jackets in plus sizes too, I'd be content.

I love the vest. Mariner blue is closer to a navy, but very nice shade that can go with anything. I find it boxy around the armholes. Normally wear a small, ordered small, but will exchange for an XS.

I purchased this vest when there were no other reviews. This is the prettiest vest. It's very flattering. I bought the medium because I wear sweaters and I want room to move. Love the blue color. Went out in the wind and rain and this vest dried so fast.

I love it but a little disappointed with the sizing. I order two things the same size - this one runs a little big and the other seems to run snug.

Almost exactly what I was looking for - but too short

Pretty but not warm enough. I liked the fabric but the vest was too thin, at least for me. I sent it back

Zipper is quite sticky and very lightweight, if not for Bean's return policy would return immediately. ( bought several sizes to try on and all zippers were poor) very roomy through the chest, and the blue color is so pretty!!

I give it 4 stars because it runs way too big! But I love the hood for my walks in rainy Washington that pop up. It needs to come in a shorter version.

I like this vest very much. It's very light, but warm, and I especially like the longer length that provides more coverage; my tunic-length tops don't hang below it. The hood is an added plus. The only downside is that the insert cloth panel is pilling below at the armpit. Luckily, it doesn't show.

Perfect layer! Zipper comes undone at the bottom since day one. Love it but disappointed of the zipper. Defiantly perfect for walking, hiking. Keeps the wind out!

2nd color, blue, of same style vest. First one in black, very good quality. Length is great, hood is a plus! Zipper start is a bit wonky, but it functions correctly overall.

I like the longer length and side stretch panels. Movement is not restricted in this vest. The zipper is not as tricky as many reviewers expressed. It works fine and LLBean provides a video tutorial online for 2-way zipper use if you run into issues. I wish the hood was removable. If you use the tightening pull cords on the hood it covers your eyes and blocks your vision. Not a deal breaker but a potential future design improvement. The pockets are large and placed in a good spot for comfortable use. It's a little pricey but the only long vest with side stretch panels that I could find and LLBean has a good track record of standing begging the quality of their products. This is not the warmest vest but perfect for fall and mild NC winter days.

Light, and a nice layer under a puffy coat in cold temps, and great outer layer in warmer temps. Yes - the zipper is tricky. I put a bit of vaseline at the bottom connection and its a lot better. Patience helps too. I live in the Mountains, so interested to see how much I continue to wear it as we move to single digits.

I really like most aspects of this vest. Warm, longer length and has a hood for when you need it! I do NOT like the zipper.At.All. I'm not sure if it's because it's a long vest and I'm only 5'1" or if it's just a poorly designed zipper. It is very difficult for me to zip. I have taken to just leaving the bottom zippered and stepping into it. I can't decide it I would recommend it or not based on the zipperprobably; as long as you know that it's a difficult zipper.

I love the style and look of this vest, but a friend has it in small, which was just a bit too tight, and the medium I ordered is about 2" too wide. I'm 5'7", 138 lbs, with an athletic build -- usually a medium, but clothes are increasingly cut for a different kind of body, which is very frustrating for thin people.

I like the vest, but the zipper is hard to start and needs to be improved.

Light & comfy, perfect for Fall & breezy Spring.

The length of this vest works well for me (5'11"") I like the hood. It is not bulky. The zipper is sometimes a hassle- have to try several times.

I have had the vest for 2 weeks now so feel I can give an honest review. I have had it on at least 10 times. I work from home and just have to walk outside to our office building a 100 yards away. It is perfect for a cold Montana day. For reference I am 5'8", 135 lbs. and I bought size medium. I love the longer length and the hood. The pockets are placed perfectly and hold a cell phone and dog collar remote comfortably. The double zipper can be a little tricky to start so I make sure I go slow. I think it runs large around the middle section. I've been thinking about ordering another color but haven't decided if I want to size down. I like vests that are tighter to keep my core warm. I'd love to know if anyone else has sized down and what the difference was.

I have three vests from Bean and love them. The only "issue" is the difficulty of the zippers.

I am in love with this vest- for me the long length is ideal for winter. The side panels are flattering and this vest loosely hugs my shape which keeps in warmth. I also love the double zipper so I can adjust the vest when I'm driving or sitting at work to avoid the "puff up." LL BEAN please make another version without the hood! This is the only drawback for me- I would buy more if there was no hood or if the hood was detachable.

This vest is so many things I wanted out of a vest: warm, light, multi-pocketed, and double-zippered. Unfortunately, the zipper just isn't great. It rarely goes together smoothly and I have had trouble getting it undone every time I've worn it (not an exaggeration). I would recommend this vest except to those who are particular about zippers smoothly working every time. If Bean updated to a better zipper construction, this would be a 5/5 product!
