This was a present for my husband - He needed an easily packable travel jacket with a hood that provided good warmth in freezing temps. The Ultralight jacket fit the bill perfectly - compresses for travel, excellent comfort, good design, very attractive in blue! At 6'3", 190 lbs, the large tall fits just right; recommend this product.

I love this jacket! It's amazingly light - it almost doesn't feel like I'm wearing anything - but extremely warm for its weight. The fit is true to size and the attached hood is perfect - not too large or small and it's adjustable to fit around your face, and I really appreciate the coverage around the front of my neck. You wouldn't choose this jacket if you were going to be standing still in extremely cold conditions (ice fishing in northern Maine comes to mind), but it's perfect for 5-30 degrees with light to moderate activity.

I live in Bend, OR and needed a warm hooded jacket for early morning dog walks and mountain activities. This jacket is outstanding! Warm, light, great fit (I'm tall and on the slender side) and well made. I've commented several times to my wife that I am very glad I bought this jacket, and am grateful that LL Bean offers it in tall. Highly recommend!

The jacket fit as expected (roomy, with enough size to wear layers underneath) and is lightweight. I haven't worn it in extremely cold temperatures yet so can't comment on how warm it will be through the winter. I like the extra pockets (one in the chest and one inside for gloves/hat) and I like that I can stow it in its own pocket. I've also switched over to a hooded jacket and LOVE it.

I took the jacket for its maiden voyage to New York city where temps were in the low 30's ( cold for us California folks). It was comfortable and surprisingly effective given its light weight.

Bought this for my morning walks. The fit is great, it's lightweight, easy to get on and off. Keeps me warm in 30-40 degree weather with just a t shirt under.

I love the 850 Ultralite down jacket. The fit and quality are perfect. I've been using a 650 fill and found that this new jacket is substantially warmer and it is lighter than my 650. I highly recommend this jacket as a quality product that will keep you warm and cozy even when the temps are in the teens. I live in Flagstaff and hiked 4 miles this morning while the temp was 11 degrees. I was toasty warm and comfortable. If you want to be warm in the outdoors...buy this jacket!

The treated 850 down is unbelievably warm, I can wear a t shirt under this jacket in 25-30 degree weather and I'm comfortable, it's made with quality craftsmanship as is most of LL Bean's apparel, put this on top of a River Drivers Henley ,and a Bean heavy flannel shirt and your good to go in any conditions, thanks for reading, I hope this helps you.

Last Christmas, my wife asked me what I wanted and I told her one of those LLBean puff jackets. This is the one she got me. It is the jacket I wear almost every day of the winter. It is hard for me to believe how a jacket can be so light and so warm at the same time. It is a remarkable product and extremely well made. I love having it and glad that my wife bought this for me last year. It's the type of jacket you can wear in both chilly days as well as days of extreme cold with a sweater or hoody underneath. I love it! I hardly write reviews, but had to for this jacket, it really is a great jacket and worth every penny.

This jacket feels too light to be useful. But, once I put it on I was very pleased by the fit, by the way it feels, and by the comfort. I especially like the way it looks. I've had several compliments, already. I like to ride my bicycle early in the morning, around 4:30 - 6:00. One morning it was about 17F so I decided to wear it while riding. It did an excellent job of keeping the wind blocked out and keeping my body heat in. Now, what do I do with all of those other jackets taking up closet space?

I bought this jacket for winter fishing on the West Coast, and it was terrific from the first time I took it out. Warm beyond belief for how light and airy it is. Perfect jacket for under a fishing vest, or with a light shell over the top (so you don't rip the fabric with a misplaced fly). Ran it out on the water and in the wind in my pontoon watercraft on Pyramid Lake, NV last weekend (35-45 degrees with a 10 mph wind) and it performed flawlessly. Great job LL Bean!

This 850 loft goose down hooded jacket is very light weight but keeps you warm, although a mid layer is necessary if the weather is in the 'teens or colder. The zipper is larger/thicker than average which makes adjustments easier. The hood and arms have more insulation than most other jackets. The outside pockets are nicely insulated and deep. The hood is large enough to fit over a snug hat or cap, but can be cinched snugly around the face with internal elastic cords. There is a drawstring at the waist that helps trap heat. This jacket is not designed for extreme cold, but for most outdoor activities it is great! The regular size fits my slender frame well, even with a sweatshirt underneath it. I love the vibrant color choices too. To sum it all up, this jacket is comfortable, warmer than it looks given its weight, and a good choice in all but extreme cold.

Very good looking, warm, light weight and great colors. A little too tender for stomping through brush, though, but perfect for just about every other outdoor activity.

This is a great coat. My new go-to favorite when I'm headed out. When I got it, I couldn't believe how light and not bulky yet warm it is. The fit is great too, nice to have Tall options! Thanks L. L. Bean! Definitely worth the money.

I'm a relatively short but bigger guy. So I got the XXL. It fits slightly snugly at the midsection, but all other aspects are almost perfect. The shoulders and underarms are great (usually a challenge when having a smaller upper frame but needing a larger jacket to accommodate for the larger than expected food and beverage storage area) and the hood isn't made for someone with a head the size of a Buick. The length is a tad big long, which is to be expected, and stops at the upper hip, but it fits and works fine there for me. This jacket feels like it was made for me, and I'm blown away. It's incredibly comfortable, fits great, and is shockingly, almost startlingly warm. Not too warm, mind you - but I just spent a half hour outside throwing the ball for the dog and it's 23 degrees out and I had this jacket on with a very thin workout shirt on underneath and I wasn't even the slightest bit cold. I was, you're not going to believe this, super cozy. Just incredible. I am absolutely in awe. This is hands down, without a doubt, the best jacket I have ever purchased in my life. I'm so, so happy with it.

This down jacket is so light it feels as though it won't keep you warm in colder weather. However, I have used it when the outside temperature was in the teens with no problem. The attached hoodie is a nice touch, especially when it's windy. The coat can be washed in cold water and fluffs up nicely in the dryer. If I was asked what the jacket needs it would be Velcro wrist straps. Quality plus.
