these shoes were so great for me i got them for my son. i am on feet all day so these are comfy and sturdy(with arch supports) unlike many others on the market. when my back starts hurting i know its time for a new pair ( at least 6 months of heavy activity). then the old ones are for the gardening. the most comfortable for the long haul!!!YEAH L.L.Bean you did it again!!

These are my husband's favorite shoes. He and our dog walk for several miles every day and these shoes are comfortable and sturdy. This is the 3rd time he's ordered them and he will continue to order these shoes as they are an excellent value.

My feet is wider than "normal", but not so wide where a EE width is warranted. I purchased a size 8.5, D width. With lightweight sox, it's just right around the toe area. With medium-weight sox, it's snug but not uncomfortable so. Having hiked about 40miles thru varied terrain (including unavoidable puddles), these boots have stayed waterproof. The weight of these boots are just right, providing enough protection and support without being too heavy for 10 mile hikes.

The more I wear them the more I like them. Seemed too small at first, but as broken in, they are starting to feel very good.

I have been using this shoe for a couple of months now and they were great right out of the box. I walk about 40 miles per week and decided to take these thru the paces of that kind of mileage and I must say they are fantastic. I like them because they offer a firm support. You can't feel rocks or anything like that through the sole. I would highly recommend these boots.

I had the same problem other reviewers had - irritation at the ankle bone. I found a simple solution. Bend the sides of the shoe outward somewhat to stretch it. When tying the laces, tighten only the lower three and leave the knot end a bit loose when pulling and tying the laces. Walk in them a day or two, and the problem goes away.

This was the largest available, but I really needed a 15. However, though a bit tight, they have worked out for me and I plan to keep and enjoy them. One suggestion, of a design nature: because the cleats are wider at the bottom than at the surface, smaller stones and pebbles become wedged in the cleats, and must be removed with a screwdriver or similar tool. If they were the opposite, wider at the surface and narrower at the bottom, this would not happen.

I purchased these walking shoes for dog walking but have also used them playing on a wet golf course. Sturdy, good traction and feet stay dry. I got the wider size because this gives me flexibility with sock thickness for different weather conditions.

I bought my first pair for hiking in the Rocky Mountains. Broke them in by wearing to the gym 3 days a week and they were perfect when it came time to hike. This is my second pair and I'm just starting to break them in now.

I actually bought these boots for the main purpose of helping me through all of my yard work efforts. A lot of time on my feet, up and down fairly steep grading, and through dry, wet and muddy terrain. So far loving them!

These are very comfortable boots. I would buy them again and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good trail hiker. I do like the fact that the support is greater than other similar hikers.

These are the best. The shoe holds it's comfort, solid sole for support, heel cushioned well and all around comfortable for walking, hiking or climbing...

This is the second pair I've purchased. The first pair wore well but are now badly worn. While the shoes are waterproof dew and rain can still be felt.

The recent versions of this shoe are tighter in the toes. I used to buy 10 1/2 wide which used to fit well, but not with the current models. I bought an 11 wide instead and it was fine to my relief. I have been buying these shoes for years - use two pairs at a time - one for a daily hike, the other for general non-fancy wear.
