This is a super warm and very pretty coat. I like the gathering at waist and rounded back hem. I ordered in an XS because they were out of S, my usual size. Def needed the S. could only zip up w a tee shirt on. No room in an XS on me. Had it fit, i would have kept it!

This coat immediately caught my eye under NEW ARRIVALS! I wanted a coat that was cute, warm, but not long. The girl in the pic coat is passed her waist but not to the knees. I'm 5'6 (230 lbs) and it went to my knees! I normally get a 2X but ordered a 3X in case I layered underneath. The coat was not only longer than I expected but it was too big. I returned the coat on November 20th but TNF just received it on December 10th! I ended up purchasing the shorter version in a 2X and it fits perfect! My only regret is although I love the mint green/jade color is that I had gone with my first mind and bought the mauve color.

Love this jacket, but the only one thing I wasn't fond of was the snaps on the hoodie. The snaps would easily snap off while you hang it on the hook or when putting it on. For a $300 jacket, the snaps seems pretty generic.

It's surprisingly light for how warm it is. It's also pretty fitted.

Love it - except for the detachable hood. The snaps attaching the hood come apart extremely easily (e.g., if you hang it by the hood the weight of the coat may cause it to detach). I'd expect sturdier snaps on something of this quality.

This is the 2nd time buying this coat, loved my old one. I gave it 4 stars because every time I take my purse off, it unsnaps 3-5 snaps on my hood. It's inconvenient. The snaps come apart so easily!

I purchased this jacket in L few weeks ago. It's perfectly insulated and feels warm and cozy. I live in NYC. So far it's been holding up well for the cold weather. 1 star off for the snap hood - it comes off easily. I'm 5'3 and the length is up to my knees.

Jacket was purchased as a friend living in the windy city. She loves the lengths and quality.

The jacket is very warm, but the hood easily comes off when just grabbing from a coat racket.

I wear this coat everyday from November to March, even for walking the dog. I absolutely love it. It's very warm and flattering. Roomy enough to add layers when it's -40c. The only thing I absolutely can't stand is how easily the hood comes off. It would be the perfect coat if the hood was attached. That's the only reason why I give it 4 stars. I'm 5'5 and bought a medium. I'm top and bottom heavy. Good for 150-190lbs.

Love the fit and weight of the coat but the hood comes off so easily even when I hang it.

The quality is super. Wore it in 20 degree weather and it kept me warm. Didn't feel a single chill while wearing it. I can feel the body heat. I usually wear lower quality coat and this is the first time wearing a NorthFace brand and I can feel the difference. Very happy with the buy. I am only giving a four because the hood is buttoned on and it keeps falling off.

I just bought this coat to replace an older model that I've been wearing for about 5-6 years (has held up well, but the style is much boxier). My teenage daughter bought a newer model 2 years ago, and my new one is by far the slimmest fitting model even from recent models almost like dart seams in back at waist. Takes a little getting used to, but I like it very much. Same good quality at a reasonable price point (considering other brand coats of similar style today). I do agree with reviewers in fact it was the first thing I noticed snaps from the hood come undone, especially when my scarf is wrapped around my neck. This is bothersome, but I'm not sure it's enough to dissuade someone from buying the coat. It is something NorthFace should address. Older models also have weak snaps, which is odd given the quality zippers? Overall, I give this coat a 9/10 and recommend it.

This is about as flattering as a parka can get thanks to the shaping at the waist. It's nice and warm and the length is great for keeping the tops of your legs warm. The only downside is the neck, as someone who is only 5' tall the neck goes up so high when it's fully zipped that it basically goes up to my mouth. The hood is also kind of ridiculously big. All the other propositions are good though so it's a little strange. (I bought the XS.) My last coat was an earlier version of the Metropolis and the neck and hood fit were much better, I'm disappointed about the change.

It is not winter yet, so major comments reserved, however, it seems well made, is easy to wear and I am over all very pleased. The price seems reasonable and I am looking forward to being "North Face Snug" all winter. If you have to face north, do it in a "north face".

I'm typically a 12. Ordered a large and had plenty of room. However, there is almost too much room around the bottom that will let cold air in. I'm keeping the coat, but it could be improved if the waist and bottom were able to be cinched.

I LOVED my original Metropolis. Wore it for 15 years. Finally ordered a replacement. So disappointed no placard with snap closure; the added elastic at waist makes an already puffy coat look like a balloon tied in middle

Nice jacket. I bought on sale the wrong size and there was no way to exchange it so I had to return it and ended up not buying another because I could not get the discount.

Nice color, warm and comfortable but do not like the way it fits. Looking to exchange for a smaller size, hopefully will look more fitted as opposed to bulky

The arms are so small/tight on this coat. I bought for my sister who's size is a true Medium and she couldn't wear with a sweater on.

It's a nice enough jacket, it lacks frills for the price point in my opinion. It runs a little small and I would assume due to it being a more fitted coat. I got it on sale so I'm not sad about it.
