I think the bag looks great and fits everything perfectly inside if you are a student. Only thing is I think the side pouches could be more accessible and convenient if you have and umbrella, water bottle, etc..

Super sturdy backpack. It seems heavier to me than other's we've tried so I've adjusted the rating accordingly.

I use this product as my college backpack. In high school and middle school I used the jester which was good but when transitioning to college I needed a backpack that was more comfortable and larger. This backpack fits my needs perfectly, it looks and feels great. I also love the laptop compartment considering I bring my computer to all of my classes.

This is a good quality back pack. It does not hold as much as I thought it would, which is the only reason I gave it 4 stars. My high school son takes his laptop and 2 (1-inch) binders and that is the most it will hold.

I purchased this backpack for my son who is a junior in high school. At first, I didn't like the side "water bottle" pockets because they weren't the stretchy netted material anymore and the new material wasn't as stretchy. My son likes to carry large 20-ounce water bottles and it was hard to get the new side-pockets to stretch enough to hold one. However, I changed my mind when I noticed that the side pockets do have a small strip of stretchy elastic that does allow the new pockets to stretch just enough to hold my son's water bottle. It's a snug fit and firmly holds the water bottle to keep it from slipping out. I love everything else about this backpack. It's large enough to hold my son's laptop, folders, notebooks and textbooks. Also the front pockets are great for holding calculators, pens, pencils, snacks, etc. My daughter had a Borealis backpack for three years and loved it. I purchased another one last year for her to use in college. As far as I'm concerned the Borealis is one of the best backpacks out there.

Purchased this backpack for my child. It's our 2nd Borealis backpack. I prefer the straps and side mesh pockets on the previous model but this bag works fine. Straps on this newer version aren't as padded and the side pockets aren't mesh but can still hold a 32oz water bottle. There is enough room to hold a laptop, binder, 2-3 notebooks, planner, extra pair of shoes, clothes, pens/pencils and a lunch box.

This backpack got a lot of things right. It can stand upright due to added padding at the bottom, there is padding for the laptop for good protection with a good compartment separate from the main compartment. There is one big flaw that I see in this backpack which is the bottle compartments on the sides. They are too shallow and the bottles fall out if you put the backpack down on the ground. This is really annoying as your bottle can get dented if it's a hydroflask or yeti type of bottle.

I looked at this pack in the store. It does not appear to have a laptop sleeve as it states in the description. Otherwise looks nice. Still in contention...

I bought this backpack with the intention of using it for multiple things (taking it to the gym, hiking, work, trips, overnight trips, etc.). Unfortunately, the structure of the backpack does not allow for you to stuff clothes in it and despite the volume it claims to be, it is much smaller inside than what I expected. The hard back panel also restricts how much stuff you could put in there and I'm considering possibly removing it to add volume and function to my bag. If you just wish this to be a school or work backpack, it's fine for that and solidly built. It has a solid laptop slot and enough room for a few books or files. But if you plan to use it for other purposes, you will probably be disappointed. I do like the extra organization of the inner pockets and the cushioning inside. I like that there is a slot for a water bladder and it is structured for hiking (though not sure you could put much in it beyond what is needed for a couple hour hike). As I said, I was hoping to take it to the gym but would have to connect my shoes and things to the outside of the pack if I really wanted to do that.

After much research I bought this for my middle schooler and I'm shocked at how bad it is! This doesn't even fit a binder and a lunch bag. The stiff plastic laptop backing (which you can't even remove ) extends past the bottom of the pack so it cannot be put down upright can only be laid down which is absurd. It seemed so roomy but it really isn't. Lots of pockets though but maybe that's the problem :-(

We purchased this Borealis backpack about a month ago and have been using it for around three weeks. We noticed that the interior has started to show some tearing. We love the backpack and are hoping to see if there's a possibility for a replacement so we can continue enjoying it.
Thank you so much for your help!

I own a Borealis for about 6 years now. Photo shoots, library visits, overnight stays, road trips...the bag's size and construction are not the problems. It's not meant to use on the PCT. What sucks is you have to lean the bag against something or it lays on the dusty or muddy ground. Maybe the bag has been redesigned, I do not know. But you should INSURE this bag does not have to be propped up against something to stand up. Huge miss by Northface.

I have actually only used it once since I've gotten it!
It's very nice & has many compartments to store things & keep everything in it's perfect condition, it's just way too heavy for me to handle!

I mostly use this backpack for work.. I work in Maintenance. I'd like to see more space inside this back. I put my iPad, cosmetic bag, and a few other personal items.

I had high hopes for this backpack. However it is lacking available space in the main compartment. It is very hard to fit much in their easily, it is very tight in the top but then gets bigger in the bottom, in which you have to shove things down there which is inconvenient. Also the water bottle side pockets do not fit stainless steel water bottles 32/40oz. Would only likely fit a small plastic water bottle which was dissapointing.

My daughter is using it for school to replace another TNF backpack she used last year. The construction is good and it seems sturdy, but I think this product could use a refresh and more innovative design thinking. The water bottle pockets are quite small- it was a struggle to get her Owalla water bottle to fit. I think the water bottle pockets need to be wider and deeper to accommodate the new, bigger bottles that kids are using.

It is very nice and stylish. I love the model; however, the elastic on the back pack makes it less spacious. You need the put the stuff inside the back pack and adjust them by your hands in order for the back pack to have good shape.

Bought this backpack at the beginning of freshman year of college. Functioned pretty well, honestly - had the space for all my textbooks and notebooks, laptop, laptop accessories, etc. and was pretty comfy to wear. Could even stuff my lab coat and goggles in for lab days, or take everything out and stuff in a change of clothes for spending a night at a relative or a friend's.
Would be a simple 5-star review...if it wasn't the beginning of junior year and I'm waiting for the backpack to fail any day. One of the straps is almost entirely worn through, and it's to the point where I'm concerned about wearing it on my back.
If you won't need a backpack in two years, buy this backpack and it'll do you fine. If you'll need one in two years, then look somewhere else.
Also, it's rather telling that I was basically told "you can't submit this review unless you turn off adblock" and once I turned it off, my entire screen was filled with an advertisement begging me to buy another backpack.

Loved the backpack but the cord came out of the anchor. Sent to warranty & was returned in worse condition (wet & musty) and not repaired. Not getting a response from warranty center as to why.

It was a little large for my liking (I'm a 5'2" female). It also had too many straps hanging off that annoyed me. The cushioned pockets for smaller items were very nice, and it could hold a lot of items.

This backpack is just too heavy itself. It becomes extremely heavy once putting a laptop and a few other items. Even though the back part is designed to strengthen back, but it kills my back due to the weight.
