Pretty Solid all the way around. All the pockets are useful. Only issue is the bag won't stand straight up unless leaned against a wall. Definitely a great purchase though

I use this backpack for my daily commute to and from the office which is about a 20 min walk each way (or a 10 min jog if I'm running late). I bought the Borealis because it is the same model of the backpack that I have been using for over 5 years that is still going strong! I am transitioning my old one to more sports-related uses and using this one specifically for work. I LOVE how the Borealis distributes the weight of the gear on the shoulders and back, because it does not feel like any one area gets overloaded. I like the combination of open storage vs. compartmentalized pockets because I can have space to stuff whatever I need into the big pocket, and I can have my sensitive tech gear organized in the other. I gave 4 stars because there was a crease in the outer zipper when it arrived. I assume it is because of shipping, but that zipper snags a little bit now and I have to use both hands to open it. I hope it straightens out with time. If not, I will trade it in for another.

There simply aren't enough pockets. If you're happy with one big main compartment and one big pocket then this is the bag for you. There is also a space for your laptop.

Have been sporting The North Face Borealis backpack, on a daily basis, for decades, primarily due to: 1) organization of the internal pockets, and 2) the convenient, external, bungee cord. Greatest Improvement: am grateful that The North Face replaced the external, thin, mesh, side pockets with sturdier, solid fabric. THANK YOU! Only Complaint about this (Women's) Model: inside the second sectionwhere most of the pockets are locatedthe deepest pocket is not as deep as that of previous Borealis versions. I believe that, in the past, I have purchased either a men's version, or a unisex version, of this model. I also notice that the shoulder straps are not as thick as those of my previous Borealis backpacks. Otherwise, I am satisfied with this product.

I want to love this backpack but my hesitation is that it is too top-heavy and topples over when you set it down. I wish the two front pockets went down deeper. That would help a lot. Other than that, it's comfortable and roomy.

I like almost everything about this bag. It is comfortable, I have been using a version of it for years, and it looks great. Using it is great, however, certain parts of the bag wear out fast in my experience. The right shoulder strap always ends up fraying. It has never actually led to a problem, however, it doesn't look great to have a frayed strap.

I'm a teacher and I spent a long time looking for a backpack to take to school. Finally landed on the Borealis. It looks snazzy and easily fits my 26oz water bottle in one of the side pockets. I got the Light Heather Thyme color. I am 5'5"/115 pounds and my husband says the pack looks comically large on me, but I love it anyway. I've been calling it the "Green Bean." :)

Very comfortable to carry my work laptop which was the main intended purpose. I will see how ages but 'like-new' condition so far.

I love this backpack. This is my second Borealis and the little quality of life changes make the backpack so much more usable. The water resistant bag is so useful for keeping your textbooks, and the improved zippers just make everything better

I am currently on my second Borealis. I use my first one as my day hike/bang around in the woods bag, and my second one as everyday pack to lug things back and forth to school. The first bag lasted 5 years before it started to look a little too worn and dirty to take to meetings. My second one is just getting to the 4 year mark and is only now starting to lose it ability to stay dry in a rainstorm. Looking forward to getting a third!

I'm using it for work right now and I'll use it for travel also. I like that it has a dedicated laptop compartment. It also has a front organizer pocket as well as a lined front pocket for glasses or anything you don't want scratched.

Great backpack just lacking quality, I owned my past recon for almost 10 years before it started showing any loose threads. I've had this for about 1 month and it's showing signs of wear already.

Originally owed Jester backpack but the zipper was coming unseamed, my daughter loved it so much she had to get another one. The second Jester I believe must be a newer version because it is smaller (too small) than the original Jester she had (or so she says) so she opted for Borealis this time. Still a little smaller than original Jester but she said it works and loves it.
