They were okay but in my one foot they were rubbing against a bone in my foot and so it is still a little sore. Other than that no snow or rain hurt them and they were reasonable safety to walk in. The other thing was that the part above your sock or open leg was not soft enough and that was annoying. Hopefully they will get better after another try or two. or three.

Nice boots. Not sure about the Gripp ability of the treds. I am returning because the stiff uppers hurt my ankles. Seem very durable though.

Overall I like my shoes/boots but was greatly disappointed with the quality of the leather used for the uppers. Some sort of corrected leather that feels more like plastic than leather. These things aren't inexpensive so I'm not sure I got what I paid for.

My complaint is that the color of the green is COMPLETELY different in real life that the photo. It is so dark that it barely looks green. Nothing like the photo. Otherwise, it's a great Bean Boot.

Love the boot and the recommendation for buying a size down. The 3 star rating is due to the back loop that you use to get the boot on is ripping after one month of having them. Not impressed by that.

Loved the shoe but just didn't fit. Decided that the boot style didn't work for me. I am returning it and getting the shoe style of the same category. Rated it 3 star but only because I couldn't wear it.

I know this shoe runs large, so why is size 7 the smallest size option for men? I'm normally a size 8.5 sneaker and I ordered the 7 Wide. Love the width, but the shoe is way too long. I really wish a size 6 was available. PLEASE CARRY SMALLER SIZES FOR MEN! I'd buy so many styles!

I would Recommend buying a size to two sizes smaller than your normal size. These run BIG!

This pair of boot is OK in almost everyway EXCEPT the Lip/Tongue (the leather under the lace) is bit too long. My other Bean-boot is OK (I compared the lip-leather) These boot-toungue sort of cuts into my ankle-front and makes uncomfortable walking. Hope LLBean will do some testing and shorten the lip/tongue.

The boot is great as it keeps my feet dry. However, my feet hurt after 30 minutes of walking the dog which I figure is due to the lack of cushioning. Also, the sides are so stiff my ankles chafe after just a few minutes. I hope the cushioning will be fixed with a Dr. Shoals insert and perhaps the stiffness will soften after usage. I do plan on using the boot as I have snow now to be followed by a month long bout with muddy conditions.

I love my boots, but I have had negative a experience with my last several pairs. After about two years of light service, the threads connecting the leather top to the rubber bottom wear out for no apparent reason, causing the top to separate from the bottom. Bean has of course replaced the boots w/o any question, as is their policy, but frankly I'm surprised by this. I treat the boots well (basically, I wear them to walk the dog every morning), so what is causing this? A real mystery, but given that it has happened more than once, it seems like it's a design/manufacturing flaw. I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience?

These are so much just a shell, felt incomplete and needed to buy a wool insole to make them cozy. Without a liner of any kind they feel like a rubber boot.

I had a pair of these 10 years ago and they were great, so we decided to buy some more. Both me and my wife ordered boots in January. Mine have arrived, we are told March or April for my wife's. No good explanation from customer service when I called. So the boots have been worn for a month now. They are the 6" versions, brown. The bottom portion seems a good fit. The sizing guild was spot on for that. The width and toes fit perfectly. It is the leather upper where I have the issue. I have muscular legs and normally boots fit a little tight in the upper. But on these boots, if I tighten the laces to an almost uncomfortable tightness, I can easily stick 2 fingers side-by-side between the top of the boot - the leather upper, and my ankle. so while I can tie them to be uncomfortably tight across the top of my foot, they are extremely loose and floppy on my ankle, resulting in zero ankle support while hiking about outdoors. This is with good medium weight wool hiking socks on. I get boots for the additional ankle support in outdoor activities, so this has limited the usefulness to me, and I only wear them a couple days/week when I am not going to be outdoors on uneven terrain. If it were not for the fact we are sill waiting on my wife's boots - indicating a huge backlog - I would send them back and ask for a pair with that size bottom, but a reasonable and useable upper. If this is the way they all are made now, I would not recommend them except for activities where you don't need ankle support and were you won't be walking distances - the floppy top is irritating to say the least.

Simply put, I am not an easy fit. I have a pair of 8" Bean boots size 13 normal width with Thinsulate lining which I believe I bought at the store. They are now hard for me to put on, (one foot is larger than the other) so I thought I would try the 6" boot hoping it might slide on more easily. I was hesitant about ordering on line and having to send back if they didn't fit. In talking to the rep on the phone, she wasn't all that helpful about whether I should order a 13 or 14 since these "run large"...I ended up ordering the 14 wide..the biggest problem was they were entirely loose at the top..no where near my ankle or leg so snow or moisture could run down to the bottom of my foot. They were also a bit too large while wearing a wool sock. So, they are going back: I'll take a shot with the 13 normal width and see what happens. If not my last alternative may be the moc..they really are a nice boot, but I am difficult to fit without trying on at a store which is not an option.

These boots seem to be extremely well made and the non-slip soles are nice and "grippy" on wet grass and mud. My only complaint is the narrow "toe area". I've ordered a wider pair.

These boots come only in whole sizes and in one width. They are fine for people with whole-size feet. For me, the larger size is uncomfortably long and the smaller size is too narrow. The compromise of too long plus an extra pair of socks is not a good solution.

My wife and I currently have 5 pair of Bean boots, and most replaced older, worn out ones. They are still good BUT, the laces on the last 2 pair were really flimsy and cheap. That's no good on a $189 pair of boots. I had to replace within 2 months. Also, the dye used on the leather bleeds out onto white socks and stains them. Finally, why does Gortex cost $50?

On the pair that I recently purchased, I have a problem with not being able to keep my socks up. They continually ride down off my heels. This is the second pair that has exhibited the same problem, where similar boots from other suppliers are not a problem. I think a small design change could easily correct this.

2 years ago I bought my daughter a pair of these shoes. They were great and are still holding up. This Christmas bought a pair for my son. On day 3 of wearing the insole started falling apart and the stitching is coming away from the shoe- not very happy with the quality

I typically wear a 14-15 depending on brand of athletic shoes. So I was ordered a size 13 in these boots. My feet are practically swimming in these things! I can put on very thick socks, and still have over 2 inches extra at the end. I got these boots as a gift, so I feel like I am stuck with the giant shoes. Very disappointed in how large these are.

I was upset with this product due to sizing. It says when ordering these shoes to order a full size down. Well I did that and they are now to small for my son. I don't know that I would recommend purchasing these a size down from what you typically wear.
