I have a very narrow foot so I ordered the narrow which is stilll slighty wider than I would like. Wearing heavy socks make up the difference though. I wouldn't think of wearing anything else when the New England weather turns wet.

This is the second pair of these boots I've owned. My son took the first pair to use on a trip to Costa Rica, so I decided to treat myself to a new pair. My only complaints with this new pair is that the leather upper opening seems a it more constricted than the older pair, making it rather difficult to get my foot through and the boot on. I also find the leather stiff and I am hoping that, with use the leather will soften and get stretched out to accommodate my feet easier.

Since I ordered my previous pair of 6" Bean boots, I have grown older and heavier and my feet have gotten bigger. Alas, LL Bean shoe sizes are not increasing along with my own; they top out at 14, well short of my current size 16. I know these boots are generously sized to accommodate heavy socks, and in fact size 14s fit me well enough with light SmartWool socks. But I wish the LLBean foot profile would catch up with mine (and that of a taller, heavier population). Then I could give these boots 5 stars. PS: These boots seem to have shrunk vertically since my last pair. My old shoes are about an inch higher.

The product has been around for years and is great, though a bit over-priced compared to similar items found elsewhere. They are sized a bit large, so order a half size smaller than you wear. The insulated version's insulation is to thick. What Bean really needs to do is make a model with a light fleece lining. I have an off-brand pair of those and they are great in hot or cold weather.

Very satisfied with boots except, within 2 weeks of normal, the laces are coming apart.

i decided not to get a size smaller and got my regular shoe size, actually half a size smaller but i could have gone down even one more full size! no worries though like the description says you can wear 2 pairs of socks or a thick pair to fix this problem...the laces on mine have already frayed, only downside! all in all these are awesome boots

I work in the field, and a couple of the older guys have had pairs of Bean Boots. I finally broke down and ordered some. worn them a week. The recommendations on sizing were correct. They run a little wide with regular socks, but we'll see over the winter. Leather is tough, but sure it'll break in. Walking, they're great. Nice buy and I recommend!

I love the construction. Well built, very good fit. One drawback, I received the package with the corner box mangle-up. Shipping dept. should have packed it with more shock absorbing materials to anticipate the handling by numerous stages of shipping.

My husband wears a size 12 shoe always. We ended up getting a size 10 because the 11 still too big. If your foot is even slightly narrow, buy 2 sizes smaller. The shoes are great, but the sizing is just weird.

Bought my boots 7 years ago and used them regularly in the winter. Unfortunately, the first thing to go on them, about 2 years in, was the loop in the back you use to pull them on, and you definitely need to pull them on as the tongue and upper are a single piece so you can only loosen them so much. I had a cobbler reattach the loop twice because it was a very simple stitch. Fast forward to about 6.5 years and when I went to pull them on, the cobblers stitching held, but the leather actually ripped apart around the top of the entire boot. I sent them back to LL Bean hoping they would replace them, but they wouldn't because the cobbler added stitches to it. I expected these boots to last longer than 7 years, as I've had much cheaper and lower quality boots last that long, so was disappointed in LL Bean not replacing them and won't bother with another pair. The soles were in need of replacement too, so expect those to last 7 years. Pretty average product performance, so an average rating from me.

This may be blasphemy from a first-time buyer, but I was very disappointed in this legendary boot. For starters, the lacing makes it a struggle to get the boots on and off without unlacing the first few eyelets. They would benefit from using a hiking boot lace design with hooks at the top. From other reviews, I'll have to take it on faith that the leather upper will eventually break in. After a month of nearly daily wear, the stiff leather upper still creates hot spots on my ankle bone, yet, somehow, it is not stiff enough to give me true ankle support. Nor does the leather upper seem to be water resistant, let alone waterproof. As far as sizing, I wish I had read the online reviews sooner so I would have known to order the boot half a size smaller than what I typically wear. Or, perhaps someone at LL Bean might realize that their sizing doesn't match every other men's shoe in the northern hemisphere and they could get on the same page with everyone else. I probably appreciate revolutionaries and non-conformists more than most, but not so much in my shoe purveyors. On the plus side, the rubber footbed does keep my feet dry. I like the tread which prevents slipping without catching every little pebble to track inside the house. Once I've forced my foot into the boot, the footbed is relatively comfortable and stable. This could be the perfect boot with some modest, common design modifications.

The problem here right out of the box is the shoelaces provided are incredibly cheap and basically not even usable. They seem to be some type of woven plastic composite that actually takes a set when you bend them sort of like a thin wire inside of them also the insole provided it's not even attached to the boot moves around and obviously will not last very long. I imagine I will have to get to know Dr. Scholls for Periodic insoles. The shoelaces and the the rest of the boot seems well-made. If these were not $50 off, I would send them back just for the issues of the Insole and laces. It's a shame that an image of quality is rruined by going cheap on these two components. Quite frankly, I don't know what the hype is about.

Fit is as advertised. I have not used extensively, but the boots seem okay to date. The one real disappointment is that the uppers of the boots are NOT real leather. The tongue is leather, but the rest of the upper is some type of synthetic leather. I expected better from LL Bean. I would have returned the boots because of the fake leather if I had not purchased them on sale. Will see how long they last.

I bought these boots for my husband who wears a 10.5, normal width. Based on the sizing information on the LLBean site, I ordered a size 9. Unfortunately he couldn't even get his foot into the boot! The opening just wasn't big enough. Customer service recommended ordering a wide. But with a $6.50 return fee (return shipping is free and was easy at UPS), I was unwilling to risk ordering a larger pair. I gave the boot 3 stars but really, that's not fair since he never could really try the boot.

I have always had a pair in my closet, they lasted me forever (at least mine did). I just recently replaced my old pair, but this new pair I'm not so sure about?! Every time a wear them I can feel my toes and socks getting wet, maybe got a defective pair or one the quality control is no longer there.

For me, they were much too wide, even when I wore 2 pair of socks. Since there are no narrow ones left in my size I will need to wait for them to be ordered for me to buy a new pair.

Fit great and very comfortable. Intended to be a daily work boot in south GA agriculture fields. Tread wears out after 4 months of daily wear. Stitching rots causing leather to become unattached to rubber bottom after 2 months daily use. Great boot for occasional wear maybe.

I ordered the wide, size 9 and they fit very snug. I typically wear a 10 or 10 1/2. I will try a 10 in this boot and hopefully that will work.

My son got these for college last summer and ordered an 11 1/2 wide. He got an 11 and it was too big on him but he figured with thick socks it would be fine. Then the stitching came apart on the side where the rubber meets the leather. He kept getting blisters bc they were too big. Then the back loop broke at the back top of the boot. We sent back the original pair and ordered a size down which was a much better fit. He really likes these boots. Fingers crossed that the first pairs performance was an anomaly.

I followed the recommendations. Fits great. Very comfortable. Grip is outstanding. However they are not waterproof. If you find yourself in 2 plus inches of water. You will have wet feet. If you want them for fashion get them. If you need waterproof, just buy some silicone spray and spray your cowboy boots you already own. Much cheaper and more effective.
