Bought the uninsulated unlined 6" boots. I wear upwards of 10.5's in running shoes, 9's in dress and there are other pairs somewhere in between. I am happy with the size 8 I bought, could probably go wider, but I don't think I'd go a size up. I normally wear thin wool socks or thin ankle socks and I feel like they for better with the slightly thicker wool socks. I've only been in the. A handful of times. We'll have to see how they do over the winter and how well they break in!

I went into LLB wanting to buy my first pair of Bean boots. I was stymied by the fact that I have a high instep and, therefore, need a wide opening on all footwear. I could not get my foot into 99% of the boots. No insulated boots. No tall boots. The only one that would fit was the 6" boot. Part of the problem is the current trend of the "tongue" being attached to the boot on three sides. If I could have pulled the tongue forward, away from the boot, I could have fit my foot in. But I give FIVE STARS to the salespeople who helped me when they were having a very busy day. 5 stars also to my husband who waited patiently.

Truly a blessing, these boots have met all that I have thrown at them from yard work and laying cement to hiking (moderate to difficult) with ease. After everything I hose them off and wear them to go out casually with jeans. For a college student with nature inclinations these make excellent boots, as I'm sure they do for everyone. I can not say whether they will stand the test of time but lets hope; I docked a star because I can't give a pair of shoes I've had for a couple of months 5 stars.

I ordered an 8M, but the boot was far too long, over an inch from toe to front. I reordered a size 7 and it it seems fine for fit.

Ordered these 6" boots to finish out the winter weather. Backorder time was first to Feb 9th, then extended once. The boots arrived while I was on vacation the last week of Feb. Opened the box and they were all I expected but alas my chosen size was too large (apparently made big, for two pair of socks, etc.?). Have returned them for a more correct size and hope to see them soon as it is snowing AGAIN!

I can not believe how large they run when the boot is so called custom made . I am disappointed they no longer make an unlined slip on . So i have loosely laced these so i can slip them on to run to the mailbox !!! Overall the quality is very good.

I'm impressed with the consistent cushion of the insoles throughout the day, but the lining of my socks are stained by the leather lining of the inside of the leather uppers.

I have had the shoes for a week now, wearing them everyday due to rain and snow. The shoes have kept my feet dry and I do not slip when walking through 1/2" of mud. I have noticed the coloring of the leather comes off on your socks. The shoe tongue is tucked into and sewn/glued to the side of the shoe. The interior bend has begun to rub the side of my ankle. Unfortunately, due to the way I walk it has become quite painful. I believe this problem is unique to me but how would I know that. Shoe works rain, snow, or shine. The shoe feels like a sneaker when walking around for a bit. Overal great product, watch how the shoes are made and you will see the quality.

Needed boots for winter, saw that LL Bean had these classic boots in a wide width (something I can't usually find), and bought them, wondering if they were truly wide enough---many shoes/boots purchased on the Internet claim to be wide but can't fit me. These fit like a dream. Makes me eager for the next huge blizzard near me, so I can try them out!

My husband does a lot of pool work to keep him busy and these boots do the trick in keeping his feet dry. Wanted a good working boot and they are comfortable enough to wear all day!

I ordered a pair of these boots for my son. He wears a size 10 shoe so I ordered an 11 to accommodate a thicker sock in cool weather. They were way to big. I could have ordered a size 9. Otherwise, they are great boots.

Now I have 3 pairs of these and I did have a pair of the shoe type but they wore out. Great boots, brilliant in wet weather, even walk in puddles for the fun of it. The biggest drawback is the tread. When new, they are not too bad in the mud but when the bottoms wear a little, they are not good in the mud as you can slide easily and fall. They do need a deeper tread pattern, then they would get a five star from me. Great boot but a deeper tread please.

When I purchased these boots, I was trying to decide between the 6" or 8" boot. Both were selling at the same price ($89). I settled for the 6" boot when I discovered the brown/brown color scheme was sold out in the 8" boot. I followed the sizing information, and I'm happy -and relieved- with the way the boot fits. The leather is a little stiff, but it will soften with wear. Since these boots are not insulated, I need to wear mid-weight socks to keep my feet warm. This is a great rain & mud boot but maybe not warm enough for snow. I am satisfied with this purchase and intend to keep these boots. Although if I had to do it again, I think the 8" boot would be a little more comfortable and would buy it instead.

Before I made my purchase, I read through these reviews to learn more about the LLB sizing instructions. Other customers had specifically stated how they paid attention to the instructions -- and that made all the difference. I read carefully, and instead of my normal 12 shoe size, I ordered a 10 or 10.5 in the boot, and they fit perfectly with room to spare. Great boots -- very glad I made this purchase.

I have sizing issues and need a good supportive boot/shoe that can accommodate my wide feet (especially the left one). I followed the sizing advice, and ordered a size down, Wide. I came to the following conclusions. The boot does satisfy my sizing needs with just a little snugness on the outside of the area just behind the toes. Support on the bottom is excellent, but around the ankle not so much since the leather is so supple.. The workmanship left a little to be desired. I observed, on the left boot, loose threads on the outside at some junctures of the hand sewn area. Inspection of the inside of the boot revealed that the three lines of thread fastening the leather upper to the insert that flashes the rubber bottom strayed above, from its intended path in the flashing, for about a scant half inch. It was in the rubber section border that was facing the leather. I am waiting for the seasonal rains to see if it is water tight. I like the boot's look, although I got kidded about it's woodsy appearance by my wife ( I live in a non rustic Los Angeles). Still, when my back yard gets under four inches of water because a pump clogs or burns out ( and it always does if I don't have water tight foot gear) I will be very happy to be the intrepid woodsman sloshing around under the Chinese Elm, saving my house and my feet from the Great Flood.

My Shoe Size: 9.5-10 Medium Bean Boot Size: 8 Medium While LL Bean tells you to order one full size down for accurate fit, you'd have to wear one helluva thick sock to have a snug fit. Keeping in mind that Bean Boots are roomy (boxy even) to start, I found that a size 8 Medium was a much better fit. I bought them in early summer 2011, and wore them 5 days a week to work at my summer job (a cold meat factory). I could still get two pairs of regular socks in the boots. If you're in a cold region get the thinsulate, it is the one thing I would change about them. Rubber is obviously not going to keep your foot warm, but they are indeed waterproof. Overall they proved useful, and considering their longevity, worth the money.

Cut the grass in them the first time I put them on. No need to break in, very comfortable from the outset. Appear to be of high quality materials and well made. Time will tell but initial impression is very good. They are on the big side though. I wear an 10.5 - 11. I ordered the 10 and they are still a bit big. No worries I wear heavy socks when I work outdoors anyway.

Not much to say about a classic. I was really pleased with the insoles. Not sure if this is new(my existing pair are older) but the insole is more comfortable than my original pair. LLBean, if there is an extra pair of insole laying around, don't be shy and pass along. I hunt, fish, mow the lawn, walk the dog, etc in these boots. Good boot!

If you order according to the sizing recommendations, you should have no problem with the fit of this boot. It's not exciting, but it's well made and comfortable. Don't waste your time or money on the cheap imitations.

These boots were purchased for me over Christmas. I normally wear a 12 but they were WAY too big. I had to exchange them and order an 11. It took until mid-March for me to get the 11 in because they were all on back order. The 11 is slightly too big, but I still like the boots nonetheless and am glad I bought them. Wish I would have known just how BIG they are.
