These were a gift for my college son. He loves them. They are made very well and I know he will wear them for years. Believe the description regarding sizing. I had to send the first purchase back because I though surely I don't need to order 1 1/2 size smaller. In fact, I did.

Very well made and keeps your feet nice and dry even during the wettest days. Highly recommended. The height is very comfortable too around the ankle.

I have always liked the way these "Bean Boots" look and had to go to Boston from Dallas for a week long meeting. There was snow on the ground and it was 8 degrees in Boston. Finally had an excuse to buy the boots. I followed the advice to order a size and half smaller and they fit perfectly. They look great with jeans or khakis. My feet were dry and warm throughout my trip.

We bought these for my husband to use when he is outside clearing the driveway with the snow blower. He has wide feet and it's hard to get boots he likes. He likes these and he thought they worked well in the snow and kept his feet warm!

My husband had a pair of L.L.Bean Boots for about 30 years that needed to be replaced. No kidding...they lasted for 30+ years! I got him a new pair for Christmas and he was thrilled!! You cannot beat the overall quality of L.L.Bean...

These boots were on my son's Christmas wish list. I went with the reviews and ordered a full size smaller than what he normally wears (along with heavy socks.) They were PERFECT. He absolutely loves them. He's been out hiking and snow shoeing and his feet stay dry and warm. He said they are very comfortable. He'll get a lot of use as he's outside a lot. I didn't know about the warranty that comes with them at time of purchase - which makes it an even better value. Highly recommended!

I bought these for my husband for Christmas. He loves them, particularly the totally connected flap which allows no snow into the boot. Coincidentally, our daughter has the exact same boots. So his feet are warm and dry when shoveling and he and our daughter continue to laugh about having the same taste!

First of all, big shout-out to Patrick, the L.L.Bean Bootmaker that made my boots. Thank you so much, excellent job inside and out!! These are the best boots I have ever owned, bar none; I don't know why it took me so long to buy a pair! The quality is amazing - high quality leather upper, thick/flexible rubber bottom and sole, solid triple stitching and a comfortable insole. I really appreciate that they are handcrafted here in the USA, and the price is extremely reasonable for something this high quality. I expect these to last me 10+ years. I generally wear a size 9.5-10.5-D sneaker, and a 9.5-D dress shoe. Based on the reviews here and my desire to wear these with either a mid-weight wool sock, or a thick cotton athletic crew sock, I went with the size 8M (D). They fit perfect with either type of socks. Width is great, not too narrow, not too wide. The 6" is the perfect height for my purpose. I wanted a comfortable boot to wear out and about (shopping, out to dinner, and in airports or on flights). These fit all my requirements perfectly. They pair nicely with jeans and sweatshirt/sweater. I think they are a little too short to tromp through tall snow drifts, but that wasn't my intended purpose. I'd think the 8" would be the minimum height for that. I also wanted something that did not come too far above my ankle, as I will be using these for longer (1+ hour) drives in the car. They are very comfortable for driving - I have good range of motion for working the gas/brake pedals w/o feeling the restriction that taller boots cause. These are unlined, and are not warm enough to wear when it's really cold and I am not moving around - even with the wool socks on. My feet get cold fairly easily, so your experience may vary. I wore them when running errands earlier this week when the temps were in the single digits, and I was in and out of the car a lot. My feet stayed plenty warm. I do notice my feet perspiring quite a bit as they are rubber and that doesn't allow them to breath. That's fine for me, I care more about them being waterproof. I did pick up the LLBean Boot Guard about a week after I got these boots. That is a tremendous product and I highly recommend it. It really helped soften up the leather and made break-in happen more quickly. My next pair is going to be the 10" Gore-Tex/thinsulate lined Maine Hunting Shoes to use for more utilitarian purposes - hunting, fishing, shoveling snow, gathering firewood, etc. I plan to pick them up when my wife and I finally take our dream vacation to Maine and can visit the flagship store while we are up there! Thanks L.L.Bean!

I wear a size 13D (medium) shoe and ordered these boots in that size. LL Bean planned well, because this boot accommodated my foot while wearing two wool blend hiking socks for warmth (there is no insulation above ankle level in the boots. I found the boots comfortable to wear and warm in winter temperatures down to 20 degrees and snow up to 5 inches (the worst I found during my 10-day visit to Wyoming during December. I titled this "Almost Perfect" for two reasons:
there is no insulation above the ankle except for the leather (a potential problem in very cold weather) and the same leather is loose around the ankle, allowing for deeper snow to sift into the boot. Summary: I like them very much and would buy them again.

I've had these boots for only a month now, but they're living up to my expectations. I've been out in the snow with them and they've kept my feet dry.

Highly recommend. These boots are durable and can be dressed up for dinner or dressed down for outdoor adventures.
Pay attention to the sizing. A size 10 fits a size 11 foot comfortably.
The boots are not insulated for snow/winter weather so they work best in rain and fall/spring weather. The rubber treads also wear down after several years and can become slippery on ice.

this is my 2nd pair!! they're great. wear 'em all the time - literally. these boots now have a very good insert for insoles... it gives support and lift and makes the shoe much more comfortable than my first pair. the boots go very well with LLBEAN'S heavy duty socks. my only thought is the laces need to be another 4 inches longer. ps: had my first pair about 7 years and beat the heck out of them but they were so comfortable I hated to give them up. the only reason I bot a new pair was the heel gave out on the first pair but the rest of the boots were fine. you won't be disappointed!!

I have always had a pair of the 6 inch boots and never had one problem with them. They are comfortable right out the box and last forever. I am extremely rough on them and they still last forever! I wear a 9 1/2 with a pretty wide foot and a 8 medium fits perfect.

I ordered these and the 8" women's Tumbled Leather Shearling boots, intending to keep which ever pair I liked best. I remember having a pair similar to this in high school, and they weren't very comfortable, but I've since learned I need to order a women's wide or men's regular width. Long story short, I am keeping both pair and love them both. I ordered the olive/brown/orange pair for something different, and was expecting them to be stiff, maybe uncomfortable where the seams met... NONE of this was the case! The leather is smooth but not stiff or rough. The footbed is supportive and the uppers are very comfortable on my lower calf, with short socks or long. The laces are the perfect length, and the craftsmanship is amazing. I usually buy a certain German-made brand, so I expect nice quality and these exceeded my expectations!

I live in Southern California so I don't normally have much use for rain boots, but I bought these for a trip to Seattle and figured these would last me a lifetime so overtime they'd get enough use to justify the purchase. Turns out this was one of the rainiest years on record in CA so I got plenty of opportunities to wear these boots and I love them! They are more comfortable than almost any other shoe I own. Obviously they keep my feet dry, and with a pair of wool socks they stay warm too. They seem to be built very well and I have no reason to believe that I won't have these for the rest of my life.

These boots run about a size large, as described in the catalog. That said, they are great work boots around any wet conditions. They don't slip and they keep your feet dry. The boots are well made and meant to last a very long time.
