For the second time I bought a down jacket from LL Bean. He always loves how warm, comfortable and lightweight these jackets are!

Very warm and light weight. My first down jacket since the 1970s. Big improvement over the originals.

I bought this jacket for a trip to Europe this October 2024. I used it for two weeks solid. I bought because it could fold into the left pocket and easily be put into my backpack. This was a terrific purchase for me. The jacket packed away as should, kept me warm, and when it was not cold enough it did not over heat me. The only thing is I wish the upper zipper pocket would have been on the inside rather than outside. I think that would be more useful in protecting a wallet, phone, or in our case a passport. I have an LLBean vest and it has the inside pocket. I recommend this jacket for purchase.

This very handy jacket has unfortunately been somewhat downgraded from the version of several years ago: It no longer has the soft material around the neck and collar - too bad as it was a nice feature - now your skin as against nylon. The stowing pocket is now one uses the left pocket as a stowing envelope - it's "OK" but not nearly as sweet as the original stow-pocket with zipper. These seem like cost-cutting decisions - dog forbid the price might go up a little over the years in order to keep the quality up. Apparently, it's better to let the build quality slowly suffer over the years in order to never have a price rise. Other than these quibbles, it seems much like the older model and does a good job of stopping wind and holding heat in. Wish the outside nylon material were just a touch tougher/heavier/robust and I wish it had 15% more down stuffing. With that said I know of no other jacket which is this warm and which can be stuffed into a small pillow for packing or for use as a sleeping/napping pillow and which also comes in a medium/tall size.

Light and warm for California winters in the Central Valley, admittedly nothing compared to the Northeast.

Very comfortable and packable. Did a recent hike to 9000 feet but it didn't get to cold. Another trip in October.

This replaced by 3 year old 850. Would you replace a jacket if you didn't love it. After 3 years, the first one lost more than half of its down. But it is so light, packable and warm that I just needed to get a new one.

I have jackets of this type from different companies. Even at a discount from LL Bean this jacket was still more expensive than the others I've purchased but it has a higher down rating and just seems to fit better. I also purchased the hooded version and it is the only one that has an insulated hood with a drawcord. Since I purchased these jackets in warmer weather, I have not had an opportunity to test them in winter conditions. I'm looking forward to it.

Great coat. Very warm and great quality. This is the second one I've purchased in addition to the 850 down vest.

Nice and light but warm. The tall sizing fits me well. When very cold, I pair it with my LL Bean sweater vest and all is well. Great product!

My husband loves his new jacket, after ages of resisting replacing his oldie but goodie. Light, soft, no bulk. A new (and another) favorite from LL Bean.

The jacket is exactly what I expected it to be. It's very warm and light and fits just right. I bought the men's medium and am 5'6" and about 155lbs. I got the carbon/navy color with the contrasting colored zippers and it looks really sharp. I'd definitely buy it again and recommend it to friends.

Great jacket. Old one returned and credit given. Down was "leaking" in the old one that was 10 years old.

I have both the ultralight jacket and sweater. The 850 fill is pretty much the highest fill rating available. I like the cut and the colorways available. The collars are high enough to really help with the warmth. The sweater is very light and easily combined with a sweater underneath to be warm enough for most of the winter conditions I encounter.

Light weight but still keeps you warm on cold and windy weather. XL fits right for 5'10" 210 lb guy. After unpacking the coat, I put it in the dryer for about 10 minutes to help puff up the coat.

I bought this for my husband, since I have a similar one and love it. It is perfect for him. He's always cold, yet when paired with a sweater it's all he needs. Light and packable.
