I bought this jacket for winter wear in New England. It's light in weight but toasty warm so far in temperatures as low as 0 F. For those of your who travel by air, this jacket is perfect as it takes up little space when folded. I'm pleased with the material quality, design and styling.

Jacket is perfect for our temperatures in Niagara. The zipper functions well and the overall look is smart.

I bought this thinking it would make a great layer under an already heavy coat/parka, for those below zero temperatures, and I was right. It definitely enhances the warmth factor, without much bulk.
Also works great for wearing around the house, if you keep your thermostat set on the cooler side. It is so light, like you're wearing nothing.
But back to outdoors: I wear my British Commando sweater, then this jacket, with the Maine Guide Parka with PrimaLoft, for the real cold weather.

I really do love this Jacket. Fit is fantastic, I'm 6'4" @ 215lbs and a Large Tall did the trick. I was looking for a baller puffer I could throw on over a T-Shirt and be warm while going out in cold weather. With just a T-shirt underneath, I'm comfortably warm down to ~32 F. One additional sweater layer under the jacket and it'll handle just about any temperature. I literally scoured the entire internet for packable down jackets that come in a Large Tall size and ordered all of them. I walked around outside in the Colorado winter at night in each of them to compare, and this was certainly the warmest in its class. I'm a very happy buyer.

Warm good looking jacket. Best for temperatures around 30-40 degrees. Well designed but it would be nice to have fleece lined pockets

Fantastic jacket! Super light and very warm. Haven't fully tested it yet, but have worn it in temps as low as 21 degrees (with a feels like of 12, at night) with just a t-shirt underneath while walking the dog and was perfectly warm. This jacket replaces a 650 down jacket which was heavier, poofier and not as warm. Definitely an upgrade I'll have for years!

The coat is very light and warm. There are many coats similar to it in the marketplace. I purchased this one because of ll bean's reputation and the quality of other bean items purchased

My second Ultralight Down Jacket and continue to be impressed by the quality, comfort and warmth. Much warmer and substantial than your Down Sweater, which was a disappointment. For the small price difference, the Jacket is a much better value.
The sizing (I'm 5'7" and 155 lbs) is ideal, fitting well over just shirt but roomy enough to accomodate a heavy sweater. But not too bulky like other puffy down jackets, so it fits easily under a rain shell.

I bought this last year for my husband at the start of the ski season, it has been a perfect midlayer for him. We purchased a large tall, he is 6'1", 185 pounds and it fits perfectly. He also wears it for hiking, he's visible especially in hunting season.
One suggestion for LLBean: Please make the neck lining of jacket collars -- especially down jackets -- a dark color. After three run-ins with skin cancer, my husband loads up on sun screen, it makes a permanent stain on the bright orange collar lining.
In fact, his LLBean bicycle jerseys have the same problem, it would be a lot easier to keep clothes looking clean if they didn't have sunscreen stains on the neck linings.

This is a great jacket. I needed something warm but that I could easily put in my flight carry on. This was perfect. It stuffs into one of the pockets making for a very small package. It is lightweight, warm (It's comfortable in the 20 degree range) and looks great.
