this jacket fits perfect and I love almost everything about it except it is no where near as warm as advertised .it is certainly very light and rainproof but I have to where a down vest under it

From the picture and description, I thought I was going to get a nice thick jacket that would keep me toasty warm. What I received was a lightweight, thin jacket. When I put it on I did not feel like I was overdressed in my 68 degree bedroom. I was thoroughly disappointed in the thickness. Since it didn't make me sweat in a 68 degree room, I am convinced that it would not keep me warm when it's zero outside.

After wearing this on my daily walks for a week in mild temps(mid-40s) with 2 other layers I would classify jacket as borderline warm but very light weight and comfortable.I like the 3 zip outside pockets and the one large non-zip inside one, but i can't imagine wearing it in the 25 temps it is recommended for. I have 2 older LLB coats in my closet that are much better suited for cold weather. I think it would be great for running errands where you are not outside much. I am mostly wearing it inside in lieu of a sweater. There is a lot of freedom of movement and it looks nice. I'm really glad i bought this on sale($100).

as advertised it was ultralight. The temp rating made me believe it would be reasonably warm in those conditions but it was not. Very pricy for the overall product. Did not return due to my own fault

For tall follks it runs a little small so I recommend getting 1 size larger so if you are XL get an XXL

Love the new fill and had no problem with the fit, wish the style was the same as the old one though with the straight, horizontal stitching. Not as big a fan of the diagonal stitching/design.

I agree with others who commented that the coat is not as warm as advertised. I wore this for the first time in the recent cold snap in Massachusetts, temperature about 35 degrees. I never wear another layer underneath, but with this coat and walking outside from a long parking lot to dinner, I was disappointed and thinking that I need a sweater or pullover underneath it to feel warm. This is probably a good November coat, but probably not for December to February without layers.

I've decided to write this review after commenting on another reviewer's thoughts about the jacket not matching the rated warmth rating of 25*; you can read those comments under his 2-star rating for the jacket. First the good: 1) This is a very stylish jacket which has generated many unsolicited positive comments in the single 24+hrs I've had it; always nice to believe other people think you have innate good taste and sense of style even if it isn't true! 2) It is lightweight, but can keep someone comfortable when standing around in gentle Fall weather (50*, no wind) while wearing light layers underneath. Areas to improve: 1) found the fit to be a tad tight under the arms and across the shoulders for a Large, Regular fit. I found the best approach for sizing various pieces of apparel is to start with what you think your normal size is (me: Regular, Large), and then try on different combinations around that (ie Lg-Tall; XL-Reg; XL-Tall). I'm a bit wider across the shoulders, so the combination of XL-Regular worked best for me; the XL-Tall fit too large for the rest of my frame. I encourage you to try this approach in order to find your own correct fit. 2) The warmth rating system. In my estimation, this is in serious need of revision for this jacket. I find it very hard to believe most people would find themselves comfortably warm at the rated temp of 25* with this jacket as their main article of warm clothing. If a person has to wear a base layer, a mid layer, this jacket, a waterproof shell, and have a roaring fire nearby for the rating system to make sense, then the rating needs to be adjusted. When I see an LLBean outerwear jacket rated at whatever, I (and I would presume most people) presume the jacket alone should keep me comfortable down to the 'standing around doing nothing' temperature level (25* in this case). I shouldn't need to have to have multiple layers of other warmth assisting clothing to reach that rated temperature. Otherwise, on my own, I can simply buy a waterproof shell, and layer sundry other articles of clothing such as thermals, an Irish wool sweater, and/or a polar fleece underneath to reach whatever 'cold temperature rating' I need to stay warm in. This jacket's rating simply isn't accurate. 50* Fall weather? Yeah, probably. 25* Winter temps? Not likely. This is still a nice jacket, but I would caution potential buyers to be more realistic about the temps they will use this jacket in, and the amount and type of additional layering they will need in order to remain comfortably warm as the temperatures drop.

Liked the style and look of the carbon navy color. However, similar to other reviews, this coat is too light on the down filling and not warm enough in cold weather. It's also slightly fitted (as advertised) and pinches under the arms. Planning to return it and would've considered keeping it if the original price was around $100 and not $270.

I'm disappointed. I bought one of these several years ago and loved it. The one I just bought as a replacement looks significantly thinner and less puffy, and is1.3 ounces lighter. In other ways, it looks identical, so I assume there is 1.3 ounces less down in the new one. That doesn't sound like much, but is quite significant in the total amount of down, and therefore less warmth.

I've had it here in N Wisconsin for 10 days or so. Outdoor temps have ranged from the 20s to 1 degree right now. I'm out blowing snow but not in an LLBean coat. This down coat is a complete flop for air invasion making the down a laughing matter. If you think I'm disappointed you're correct. For $250 its not good at 15-20 deg and below and not ever in the wind. I can use it as a garage coat where the temp is 50 plus. You die quickly if this coat was all you had. It's an undergarment only or usually.

Very fitted. Ordered usual XL size. Tight especially in the chest/abdomen. I would recommend size up. Not enough room for any active activities.

Purchased in February 2022 and it appeared to high quality and fit well. Unfortunatly the shell started to separate on the bottom left. The tear is only about a quarter inch but is not repairable. There are no pinch marks, it simply began to tear. I tried to upload photos of tear but the system rejected them.

I bought this for my mentally challenged brother, who had this same style (it was time to replace it). I saw my brother in the jacket about a month later -- it looked like it had spots all over it. Upon close inspection, the "spots" were dark feathers showing through the extremely thin outer fabric! (I ordered the red color). Since he has been wearing it and now needs it for the winter, I won't return it. But I probably would had I seen it upon receipt. (We do not live in the same town). This would probably be fine in a dark fabric.

Wish it were warmer. I bought a cheap down coat for my husband and then this one for colder days. It doesn't provide the warmth for the money spent. The lightweight factor may contribute but if I had to do over, i wouldn't invest so much money. I also compromised by not getting hooded jacket to get this supposedly superior down.

good jacket that is light. 18 months and 1 winter later the seam on the sleeve is leaking feathers. probably should be more in the $100-150 range with durability issues like this.

Jacket is a down sweater at best, not a down jacket. Not up to the usual LLBean quality.

Tall Size runs very large in the chest, or perhaps they anticipate you wearing a very thick sweater underneath. Not the best fit for a down jacket which should be rather snug for insulating purposes.

He liked the actual jacket, but the cinnamon color with contrasting orange zippers made it look like it came from someone's grandma's closet. Not flattering for a man at all.. returned it

Mostly the jacket seems fine, but once I got it home I realized that against the burgundy color of the jacket there is ridiculous flaming, orange trim. The store was just closing when I bought it on sale, so I didn't look as closely as I should have. I will be returning it.

The jacket looks good, but the sizing runs small and it did not keep me warm. I returned the jacket.

Not at all like the hooded jacket. Cuffs were loose; fitting felt looser; neck closure was wide and did not close enough to trap heat. Generally could not figure out use for this jacket, even at the sale price of $89!

I had to order an XL jacket because the L size, which fit me good otherwise, had arm holes that were too small. I had to wear it over (only) a t-shirt. When I tried the XL it was too big everywhere else but the armpits.
