Love the coat and I like the number of pockets that it has. The only thing is that I am on my second coat due to the coat ripping not even a month in. Other than that, I would recommend this coat.

Good quality, but sizing was tight. I'm a big man xxl/tall but it was too tight. I'm used to Bean clothes fitting me. I need to send it back.

Fit was snug. In reality, if you order this product, get the next size up.

I love LL Bean products but this jacket has issues. It runs small and i had to return the large for XL.. But i noticed oily fingerprints all over the jacket. When i received the replacement XL it too had the spots. Turns out black feathers in the down filling show through the orange fabric. I need a high visibility jacket so i kept it BUT even from ten feet away the jacket appears dirty so for $229.00 i get to be seen as unkempt. disappointing production flaw LLB needs to address.

I was looking forward to wearing this jacket this winter. It's light weight, looks good, fit's perfect and is comfortable. When trying it on, I found that the teeth on the pocket zippers were bent/broken and would not zip up or down. The zippers are made of cheap plastic so, that may be the reason. It's been in the LL Bean return/exchange zone for a few weeks now and I look forward to receiving another with zippers that work.

Just felt too lightweight- the sleeves were difficult to manage with a long sleeve shirt on.

The coat has a lot of nice qualities. Well made good fit, but it could use more pockets and it's really not warm enough for deep winter wear.

Coat was definitely designed for oversized America, but nothing in description indicated as much.

I bought this in a small for my 17 year old son to replace a kids extra large that he outgrew. It is an okay jacket, a little too long on the arms and the material is almost a metallic khaki green, a little too flashy for my taste. It is a good in between jacket when it is too warm for a parka but too cold for a hoodie. His old Kelly Green jacket that he outgrew was nicer, fit him better and was less expensive. I'm glad my friend's son is enjoying it now.

I purchased this jacket in gray a while ago. The fit and function is great. The newer version changed the cuff opening. The cuff openings are larger so the sleeves fall past my rust and over my hand. The elastic in the sleeve is not sufficiently snug. The previous model had elastic around the entire cuff. The newer version does not. The elastic is sowed into half of the cuff.

Was disappointed when I opened package and saw how thin this jacket is. Loft may be 850 but the weight of the down fill is too light. Not a coat for serious winter wear

The coat looks great and fits great. However, after wearing the coat a few times it doesn't loft up nearly as much as expected. I found a few at my local Bangor, ME outlet and they seem to have much more filling. Usually happy with LLBean products as I buy a lot of them but this purchase isn't my favorite.

Too tight in the chest but the rest of the fit was fine. Tried the large and it was fine in the chest but too big from there down. Made for someone with a larger midriff than myself

I had high hopes for this jacket. I only ever owned EB jackets and have jumped to Bean. I think it's the "Ultralight" part that is lackluster. My 3-4 year old EB 800 fill regular down is noticeably warmer. When I wear this one I feel like I HAVE to wear a shell over top stay as warm as I would have in my old jacket. Not sure I will keep it. Quality is great, sale price was nice- but not what I'm looking for.

This jacket is seriously over priced for what it is. Material, stitching, zippers, are excellent. At 5'9".175 I could use 1" more in the chest on medium regular. The problem is the price. You can get this for $40-$80 at any dept store minus the Bean down. Warm to 30 degrees, more if you can fit a sweater underneath. The darn price! I really wanted to return mine but the absolutely spectacular carbon/navy color stopped me. I just wish l had that great value feeling associated with other Bean products.

I returned this for a couple reasons, first being I did not feel it was as warm as advertised, the day it arrived it was 0 degrees, I wore it to the mail box felt the cold, so I packed it up and shipped it back. The second issue was the high price for something that was not as advertised.

I own the women's version of this 850 down jacket in Dusk Blue, and have been very pleased with it. So when I saw this men's version on sale last month in a beautiful shade of green (Black Forest), I thought it would make a nice gift for my father as his first down jacket. I purchased the jacket and was pretty surprised to see about 2/3 of the amount of down that the women's version has. It was practically flat, no matter how much I fluffed it. I decided to still give it to him because the prirce was good, but I was disappointed. Since it was his first down jacket, he seemed to like it as he doesn't know any different. I have to wonder if the lack of down filling is why it was so discounted. I probably won't be buying the men's version again for my husband or anyone else after this experience.

Jacked fits nicely and feels very comfortable and has a nice soft feel to it, but it doesn't keep you as warm as I thought it would.

I love the jacket, but it's flawed. I've had it for 3 or 4 winters. It fits well and is fairly warm. Comfortable down to about 15-20F. Lower temps than that and you may need a good middle layer to stay warm during light activities, especially if there's a NW wind. Lots of good pockets. My experience with the jacket is that the shell material it's made of is very fragile and delicate. First day I wore it, a pine branch I was moving in my yard popped a couple of holes in the belly area and on the sleeve. I was a little surprised the material didn't stand up to a fairly benign contact with a branch, but I figured just bad luck on my behalf, so I taped it up the holes with clear packing tape. Over the years, it's ripped apart on other occasions following contact with inanimate objects, including after being caught on a resto sidewalk sign in Quebec City after which it bled down feathers like a stuck pig. I rushed back to my hotel where the concierge gave me a giant piece of tape to close the wound. Don't wear it near a camp fire because one small spark or flying ember will burn through the material instantly, like someone zapped it with a plasma cutting torch. I have six tape patches on it now, including a large piece of purple duct tape! I now get ridiculed (or complimented) when I wear it in public. Thrifty Mainers appreciate my cheap fixes to it and unwillingness to toss it. I'd say overall, it's a nice jacket and, mostly, I've just had bad luck with it. User errors. However, I'd expect the material to be a little tougher and resilient for the money. There's a reason you don't see the words "tough", "rugged" or "durable" in copy for this product. I recommend it as a good urban winter jacket for city folks so long as they don't walk into signs. Would not recommend wearing it for any serious outdoor activity where you might contact brush, branches, etc.
