They have managed to completely ruin this boot. My first pair was great! Very comfortable right out of the box. Wore them all over and enjoyed them. Ordered what I would have thought was an identical 2nd pair to replace the first. Took them out for a first (and only) hike. Completely opposite reaction. Extremely uncomfortable to the point of pain and bruising. Examining and comparing my old pair to the new, it appears that some type of bulkier backing was added to the upper lace eyelets and the upper eyelet on the inner side has been shifted down about 1/4 inch. Feeling inside the boot, the backing of this eyelet in the new boots is protruding much more than in my old pair. Apparently strengthening the lace point at the complete expense of comfort. Trying them on in my house I didnt notice anything. But when I was in the mountains and started hiking on a slope, especially downhill or side hill, or this new eyelet backing would grind into my feet around my ankle bones. Had to stop multiple times on a short 4-5 mile hike trying to find a way to minimize the pain. Unwearable. Getting rid of them immediately. Photo shows altered lace eyelet with new boot on top

Purchased it in NY, flew to Northern California , Hiked all over the Redwoods, all nature of terrain, mud, slush, sand and soil.
On the same trip hiked on the snow up Mount Shasta and back to more woods and the boots provided ultimate comfort, held up its integrity and still looks as good as new.
Switched from Oboz and it is amazing how much room there is in the toe box for toes to spay!
Highly recommend .

This is the first pair of boots I have purchased in decades. What an eye opener! They fit me like a glove out of the box with no hot spots. They are much lighter than my ancient pair. Grip and traction feel reliable.
I haven't had them long enough to really speak to the durability of the sole or the upper. Also, while I always seek to avoid leather, I think these will last me for a good while.
Some other reviews compare this model to previous Quest 4 versions. I don't know about that, I just know these are an enormous improvement for me in weight and comfort. Nothing else I've tried came close, and the price on sale was for a song.

Third pair of these boots. The last must have changed as I had to downsize a 1/2 size from the last two pairs. The fit is different, larger, wider, longer and advise to order multiple sizes or fit at a store. I only have 10 miles in these boots do far. Traction is good and they seem comfortable enough but i have not carried a load with them yet.
The photo is of two size 10's, you can see the geometry of the boot has changed. Where I had great heel lock and perfect toe box before, the entire boot is larger and longer and the fit is very different.

I've been wearing Salomon shoes and boots for more than 10 years now. Out of over 2 dozen pairs I have either worn or purchased for others I feel as if the average quality has dropped significantly over the years. Anecdotal, yes.. however, when your boots fall apart as quickly as recent pairs of mine have it is unfortunately difficult to recommend. Three stars still because of years of satisfying use and still my favorite boot

I purchased a pair of these boots in 2017 and after two years they wetted out in wet grass and light rain.
Salomon replaced the original boots in 2019 and these have been wetting out as well after about two years in wet grass and rain.
All areas of both pairs of boots were/are in good shape and I should be able to get a few more seasons out of them except for wet feet that can cause blisters.
I requested an additional replacement of the second pair of boots but was declined.
Except for the continuing failure of the Gore-Tex liner these are great boots.
A redesign of the Gore-Tex liner for a four year life verses the current approximate two years would make these an outstanding boot

I've owned several different pairs of salomons.
The older version of this boot was far superior. This boot is uncomfortable out of the box and even when it's finally been broken in. Your hiker boots used to be comfortable and felt broken in brand new. Also, you guys got to include a wide foot option. Not everyone are petite Europeans.

I love these. They are comfortable and can take a whole day of walking without any problems on any terrain and weather.
Ive worn a pair daily on walks in the woods and hikes for 12.5 months before they developed a leak and were no good to me. I bought a replacement pair immediately and plan to wear them to the ground again. I wish the boots lasted longer though that would be perfection.

I bought these boots because I needed something sturdy and stable for mixed terrain. I've only hiked in them once,
so far, but these boots are very comfortable, stabe yet flexible, and sturdy. As with some of the other reviews, I noticed that they are not waterproof, but I don't really care if my feet get a little wet in the summer. Lastly, like I said they are comfortable, but they would be even more so with a little more cushioning.

I bought my second pair of these boots this year after wearing out the first. Loved the fit and traction of my fist pair. On my third hike (class 2) with the new pair the outside deep pull lace hook on the right boot pulled out and on the left boot it looks like the same hook will come out as well. I'm looking for a boot repair shop to replace the hook.

I dont carry a heavy pack on mountain hikes anymore but I use the solid support and exceptional stability built into these Quest 4 boots to overcome severe arch, ankle, and neuropathy problems so I can continue to be active outside. They are durable and comfortable with enough height in the toe box for custom orthotics. I keep two pairs - one for casual/dress and one for work in the yard. They are the most stable boots Ive ever worn.

i have had ankle problems for years and went through many different boots. they all felt good at first but usually after a day working outside my ankles would kill me. every step was painful. a few years ago i bought my first pair of saloman quest 4's. it was like a dream. so comfortable. so supportive. just bought my 3rd pair and these for some reason, are not the same. they are still better than all the others though. dont know what it is, they just dont feel as good.

What a super boot.. torsionally stiff, minimal forefoot flex , lightweight and good enough cushion through the midsole and a sweet lace lock at mid-foot fit. In all, this excellent backpacking boot makes for a great day hikes as well.. fit is very subjective but for me, its a great boot with some much excellent features.

Sadly the quality of these boots are not what they once were. The quality control from the factories used seems to be non existent. The last pair I had the eyelets were not fitted correctly and came off and my current pair seem to be going the same way with the eyelets not seated quite as tightly against the boot as they should be. It's such a shame as the rest of the boot is outstanding. Comfortable straight out of the box and good sizing. I had an original pair of quests and they were great. It's a shame the updated model does not live up to the reputation.

I bought these shoes and wanted to love them. The first couple of miles were great. Super comfy and the gortex worked great. After ~ 25 miles the tread fell off the shoes. When I reached out to Salomon they said they wouldnt be able to honor their warranty (a two warranty) because I bought them on sell and the receipt showed a different name. The shoes were manufactured in July of 2022 and have less than 25 miles on them, I only bought them three weeks ago. Save your money and dont waste them on these trash shoes.

This is my 2nd pair of these boots & would buy a third. Im an occasional hiker typically completing a handful hike a year. This boot doesnt take much time to break in & is sturdy enough for my backpacking treks. I have to replace the inserts as I find the included ones do not provide enough comfort or support.

This is my first pair of Salomons and was pleasantly surprised by the comfort of the boots right from the beginning. I have put a few miles on them in the short period of time I have owned them and they just keep getting better. The lacing system keeps my heels locked in and my feet from sliding around inside the boot. All in all these are great boots and cant wait to put more miles on them.

I bought these boots in late summer 2021, and at first they were phenomenal. Amazing support, great traction, very comfortable, and waterproof as advertised. These things were tanks, and although they ran a little hot, they were the best pair of hiking boots I ever had.
Unfortunately, after less than a year the soles began to separate from the boot, leaving large cracks around the toe box on both sides of both boots. The cracks became larger and larger, until they began to allow water in. Hiking in snow or wet weather became impossible, as the melted snow or water would seep into the boots, soaking the socks and causing numbness from cold, blisters, or both. Made them completely unwearable I'm all but none-dry conditions.
These boots were well-maintained and always stored indoors in climate-controlled environments, outside of direct sunlight, so it wasn't my fault they broke. For such a lofty price, boots should last longer than a year. I loved these boots and would have worn this model forever, but I think I will have to look for another manufacturer in the future, because replacing hiking boots every year is unreasonable. Such a shame the craftsmanship was poor, because these boots were amazing.

I bought this boot because it was rated the best by a hiking magazine. After 3 weeks use one of the lace lock mechanisms began pulling away from the boot.
The company provided new boots but now I have the same boot with, what I feel is, the same design flaw. So now I'm trying to return these new boots.
