Great fit and support for long hikes on rugged trails (e.g. Appalachian in New York). I've been able to walk for 8+ consecutive hours without blisters. Comfortable fit, even right out of the box.

This is my second pair of Salomon hiking boots. I wore my first pair until there was no more tread and needed a replacement. The Quest 4 Gore-Tex is light weight and water resistant. The traction, stability and ankle support on steep inclines and descents are the reasons I bought this boot.

I bought specifically for my 7 day trek to Kilimanjaro. The conditions were harsh; heavy mud, sharp rocks, steep inclines and slippery ice. The tread on the boots were great. I did not slip once and no water entered the boots. If not for this purchase, it may have been different in the mountain.

These boots were very comfortable right out of the box, no break-in at all. They are the most comfortable boot I have owned. However, after about 20 months of medium use, the toecap on one boot started to detach. I made a warranty claim with Salomon which was processed with amazing speed and attention. I was given a credit for the purchase price for immediate use at Salomon to purchase one item. I would give Salomon's customer service 5 stars. I would give the boots five stars but for the several other complaints of material and or design which were similar to my own.

Between work (land surveyor), camping, and hiking ive put about 200+ miles in these (no joke). They need a breakin time The active support and the inner soul is perfect for my feet and body weight. I dont get winded either by carry a heavy load like my work instrument or a ruck. My only 2 complaints are the laces are way to long so i cut them down, and the part where the rubber toe and leather meet seemed like a failure point so i reinforced it with shoe glue. Since then ive had no problem with these boots and hope they last a while cause i really like them.

Let me first start off by saying these things are incredibly light and comfortable. Probably the most comfortable hiking boots Ive ever worn. That said, expect them to last two maybe three years with moderate use. I have to get a new pair because the front cap/sole is peeling off and cracking at the foot pivot point. Cannot be repaired, we tried with shoe repair store. Extremely upset about this and Solomon would not really stand behind their product because its out of the warranty. I understand the warranty and I shouldve reached out sooner when I started to see the issues, but either way, A $230 pair of boots should not last only a couple of years. My old Vasque I had for almost 10 years and they were just incredible, but I will say they werent as comfortable as these out of the box. Id look at other products if you are really going to do a lot of hiking in these they just wont stand up to the job long term.

I don't hike or backpack but I have significant health issues with both ankles. I've tried many brands of boots, but these are the ones that support and immobilize my ankles the best. I have bought several pairs direct from Salomon as well as REI and Amazon because the heels tend to wear down after about 6 months. I wish they had Vibram or some other more resilient soles, but I will keep buying them as long as I can.

This is my fourth pair of Salomon Quest 4GTX boots and I love them. I work in law enforcement and have used Salomon boots for over 10 years. The boots are well-made and have plenty of support and cushioning. They are very comfortable for long work days. I have also purchased the Salomon Quest Forces but I prefer the hiking version due to the increased cushioning of the boot. Ive also tried Lowas and Danners in the past, but my Salomon boots are superior.

The Quest 4 is very comfortable did not take long to break in and get good use. I normally wear a size 9 1/2 - 10 in shoes but the 9 fit me perfectly for this boot. Looks great on the feet and they are surprisingly light given the style of boot. Highly recommend.

Poor durability. Recommend danner or hoka for similar price point. Lowa if you got the money for true quality. The boots midsole deamination after less than 70 miles. Comfortable supportive decent grip mid tier water proofing. Bad customer service. They hide behind receipts instead of standing by products. I couldn't get a warranty due to not having a proof of purchase, to prove less than two yrs old, for something I bought months ago. The suggestion was to have the store or my credit send me something. To boot the manufacture date on the tag on thr boot shows them as less than two yrs old from manufacture let alone purchase. Really have not had this type of customer service from outdoor gear companies before. Spend your money elsewhere.

I love Salomon boots and shoes however more recently within the past 2 years or so, the longevity of the products hasnt been as good as it use to be. In my honest opinion.
-My last pair of these barely lasted 1 year and thankfully REI replaced them without me having to file a warranty claim with Salomon.
-I have older versions/pairs of these that have held up much better.
-Over the years the manufacturing location has changed and maybe that had something to do with durability, not sure but itd be great if Salomon read more of the negative reviews and fixes the issues that I have seen happening to these boots especially.
Great boot with minimal breaking in, they just need the durability improved.

Normally, I try shoe after shoe at the store, walk around in multiple pairs, and still cant make a decision. The Quest 4 Gore-Tex Boots were love at first fitting. I tried them on and knew they were the right boot. Great support, very comfy. Light weight, easy to hike in. Didnt have to break them in. I prefer a little wider size than normal, but this boot had enough room for me. I would re buy them.

I am a Clydesdale: 6'2" and 235 lbs on a good day. 2 steel hips and a fused heel. When I buy my backpacking boots, I "go ugly, early".
Up:
Easiest high top hiking boots I have ever slipped my feet into. It's like putting on a ski boot. 2 years ago, I hiked about 200 miles in my Vasque Breezes. Loved them, but then Vasque "dumbed down" the Breeze. Salomon was a Dark Horse candidate that has now become a favorite. Slightly lighter than my old Breezes and better toe box fit and good foundation support. A blessing on the rockier trails and pavement.
Down:
Putting on the the speed lacing works well. Getting the laces out of the bottom hook was absolutely hateful for the first 3 months. I have figured out the proper body English and use of force and everything seems to work well now.
Hmmmm...
A very different top of the boot design where it wraps around your leg over the ankle. The Breeze was a solid horizontal wrap and felt very secure. This is a more contoured wrap that is comfortable and seems to provide adequate for the trails I am hiking while carrying a 20 lb pack. Time will tell.

I am tough on these boots. I'd like to baby them, but I can't with my job. These are the first boots where I don't feel my feet hurting after a full day. Waterproofing is bulletproof. They're light.
And for durability, they're surprisingly well. Obviously I have some rubber coming off and some of the outside material peeling but any other boot with the same specs would be in pieces by now. It's not a 6 pound leather boot that will last, it's a comfy boot you may have to buy a few times. But compared to other boots in this role. Id say they're much more durable.

I bought these for a CO elk hunt. As always, I procrastinated and didnt order them until it was too late to break them in. The guy I went with bought a $600 pair of Crispies and broke them in for months before the trip. Long story short, he had moleskin all over his feet and I never got a single hot spot. Not one. Not even a rub. Im writing this review a year and a half later. These things are still a joy to wear and theyre still waterproof. When they die, Ill be getting another pair. Im not even going to shop other boots. Great job Salomon!

I bought a pair back in spring to hike my local trails. After about 10 miles the sole started to pull away from the left boot. I glued it and kept moving. The sole pulled away a second time so I contacted customer service. Had an excellent experience with them. I filled out the online forms and sent the required pictures. The next morning a had a follow up mail telling me that I needed to send some additional pictures. This was due to my own fault, didnt follow directions. Anyway, 24 hours later warranty was approved and a voucher for new boots was in my inbox.
Not only are these boots comfortable but this companys customer service department was one of the most pleasant, easy experiences Ive had. Kudos to you Salomon!

We all know of this boot, you always see people wearing it and Salomon and first experience with them was this year and the boot has stood up amazing so far. Constructed well and holds your ankle and foot like a tank. Ive used them from everything from hiking, walking, city runs and last weekend fishing off jetties where I was constantly climbing up and down and on and off sharp rocks all day. Very happy with these.

I bought these boots at a discount during the summer for fall/winter hiking. After two hiking trips this fall the rubber sole has a bad tear. Ive bought 5 pairs of boots before this one and never had a problem with any other styles. Very disappointed.
