I have used these boots in a variety of conditions now. They are lightweight and extremely comfortable. They required no 'wearing in' period. The boots do not leak at all but I do find that my socks are sometimes a little damp from condensation after an hours walk in summer conditions (to be expected). The soles are flexible and provide excellent traction in wet and dry conditions. The ankle support is just right for me. Overall I am extremely pleased with the boots and I can fully recommend them.

I've worked for Law Enforcement Agencies for twice most careers, these boots have been excellent for indoor & outdoor expeditions. Have proved to be tough, water proof, and comfortable after eight hours.

I love these boots. No breaking in required. Straight from box to the Fells due to previous boots failing (not Salomon). Very comfortable and very supportive around ankle. Excellent grip on the wet crags of the Lake District. I was at be dubious of the colour at first but now I am glad I got the lighter version.

This is my second pair of these boots. They are comfortable straight out of the box and give excellent support. Waterproofing from the Gore-Tex is first class with no leaks at all. Managed in excess of 500 miles on country roads and gravel tracks before the soles were too worn

I have a few pairs of Salomon hiking boots and I can honestly say these are my favourite. The ankle support is phenomenal and the way the lacing is setup makes it easy to increase or decrease the ankle support as you need it. Being made using gortex, they're super water proof (I've walked almost a kilometre up stream in them and didn't get wet once! Their traction is excellent on every surface I've tried including dry and wet or muddy conditions. I haven't even slipped on a wet tree root with them yet! As a plus I think they look awesome! Some of the laces on some Salomon boots don't grip the best until they're worn in, but these haven't slipped yet since day one! Well worth the money, nothing to be disappointed about here!

Bought these to wear for SWAT and also to wear casually. They have exceeded my expectations in both categories. I used these in a week long class the day after I bought them and they felt broken in after the first day. They have been put through some abuse so far and seem to be holding up well. Salomon is now my choice when buying shoes.

I purchased these boots back in June in preparation for an elk hunt in mid September 2021.
These shoes did a amazing in the back country!!! It was a high of 55 some days, shoes were swarm with wool socks, we climb hills, through brush , cow crap, creeks, they held up well! I would recommend this as an alternative to expensive hunting boots, loved the heel on these shoes!

First venture into Salomon hiking boots and I'm absolutely loving them. Having always found it tricky getting to get the right fit in boots, the Quest 4 were comfortable straight out of the box. I get the width at the front and the lacing system keeps my ankles firm and supported at the back. I'm doing long distance hikes and I feel like I have at last found the perfect boot.

I bought these boots because I recently moved to Oahu, Hawaii and there are some amazing trails here. My ankles tend to sprain easily after years of soccer, so I needed something with ankle support. I was a little worried that they might be too heavy for the tropical climate, but after six months of regular use that has not been a problem. I did twist my ankle once on uneven ground, but I found if I pull the laces super tight that prevents it.
The trails in Hawaii have a lot of jungle tree roots every where and these boots help provide a stable platform. Pretty much every jungle trail in Oahu is red clay that turns extremely muddy when it rains. I used sneakers when I first moved here and it was a nightmare. These boots are a godsend in the mud. They have a lot of traction, sometimes too much. They are also waterproof which is great when crossing streams, which involves pretty much any waterfall hike here. The only time my feet have gotten wet is when the water comes in over the top (of course). I've submerged them in ankle deep water for minutes at a time and they stay dry.
Over the sixish months I've had these they look brand new except, minus the dirt. I used them on average once a week, probably around 5 miles is my standard hike. The hikes I do are moderate to verging on hard, nothing crazy though.
The only thing that has gone wrong with the boots are that one of the laces chafed against the metal piece and split. Luckily they are well made laces with two layers, so I was able to make due and continue the hike. I contacted LL Bean and they agreed to give me a credit for the cost of replacement laces. So no complaints, things happen.
Other reviews stated that the boots are small to size and tight. I wear a 10.5 and these boots are a 10.5. I don't notice them being overly tight, but I due prefer biking boots to be on the tight side so maybe that is a preference thing. I think they are extremely comfortable, though I do have torque down on the laces to get the support I want on more difficult trails with unstable ground. I'm not saying the other reviewers are wrong, but I didn't notice it. For example I wear Rocky SV2 boots for work and they fit the same if anyone is familiar with those.
I think these will be great boots for when I go back to the Northeast. I've owned a few pairs of LL Bean boots before such as the Leather Cresta Boots, and these are far superior. They are lighter, breathe more, more durable (from what I can tell), just as waterproof and slightly cheaper... well less expensive maybe cheaper isn't the right word.

The Quest line is my go to work boot when toe cap and metatarsal guards are not required on site. I put these boots through varying types of terrain and I love them. I also really like the new design.

This is the third pair of Salomon boots that I have purchased. I ave had the Quest 4D 2 and 3, and I'm now on the Quest 4D 4. I've had the new Quest 4 Gore-Tex now for two weeks and have put the through 70 miles in the Modoc National Forest. Just like the other two, the only issues that I have is that the toe cap keeps coming off. It looks like the glue isn't the best.

I go on a lot of long day hikes (10-15 miles) on the rocky, hilly trails of southeast Pennsylvania. As I've gotten older (51) and heavier (180), I've found that after about 6 miles the rocks were starting to make my feet sore. I wanted boots built for rugged terrain that would protect me from the rocks. I've put over 100 miles on these boots now and finally feel like I can write a useful review.
With these boots, I hardly even feel the rocks until I'm about 10 miles into my hike. My feet only start to hurt a little at around 13 miles. These boots have great traction and handle the hills very well.
I will say that all of the padding and protection makes this a lot of boot. I cannot use these as my everyday shoe. In fact, they are so bulky that I don't like to drive in them. I wait to put them on until I get to the trailhead. But, even though these boots are kind of big and clunky, weight, hasn't been a factor at all. These boots are remarkably light for the protection they provide.
I've worn these boots in the rain, through puddles, and shallow creek crossings and my feet stayed dry. Once I slipped off a slippery rock as I was crossing a creek and both of my feet wound up in water up to my knees. Though totally submerged, not much water got into my boot. The fabric of the boot wicked the moisture away so that my feet felt dry as I continued hiking. When I finally took the boots off, my Smartwool socks were only a little damp. With any other boots I've owned, my socks would have been soaked, Smartwool or not.
These boots kept my feet warm on cold weather hikes (20-40 degrees). As the weather got warmer, I had to get used to my feet being hot while I hiked. I got used to it, and now I don't notice, even on summer hikes (80+ degrees.) The nice thing is that even though the boots are warm, the moisture wicking feature makes it a non issue. My feet stay dry.
To summarize, these boots are perfect for long day hikes on rocky trails with steep hills, even in the rain.

I bought these to replace an identical pair I had worn daily for 4 years. I walk my dog 5 miles /day on the hard streets of London and have suffered from dodgy ankles and plantar fasciitis for years. These are the only shoes I own I can wear without custom orthotics. Fantastic product.

In old age, it has become more difficult to find shoes and boots that accommodate quirky feet and ankles on difficult surfaces. I went the extra dollar and bought these to replace a long-time go-to Vasque style that was recently discontinued.
Last week, on only the third wearing, these Salomons went 6 miles over the greatest ups and downs you can find in otherwise flat Central Wisconsin, with good support and without generating any hot spots.
Of course, I don't know how the soles will hold up. There doesn't seem to be such a thing as a boot sole that combines excellent traction with long life. My Vasque Vibram soles never lasted more than two years despite the uppers still showing no significant sign of wear. I suspect that will be true of these boots too, but good traction is more important to me than it used to be.
One last small thing: for an inflexible person with short arms, these Salomons are relatively hard to lace up snugly, and that lacing is important to their fit and support. Could be a good thing, though. Not just throwing them on for casual street walking and woods chores might extend their useful life commensurate with their expense.

I've been wearing speed cross before these, I'm a gardener and do about 30,000 steps a day and these were comfy straight out of the box, I got a size bigger than I am as I have wide feet. They fit well and give a nice bit of ankle support. Also Salomon's warranty is great if you ever have a problem.

This boot was great right out of the box. I had an earlier model that I really liked, but this one is even better. Very lightweight and supportive. When I'm backpacking I like more support than trail runners provide. This boot provides that support and has very good traction.
Very happy with my purchase.

I received my boots around 2 weeks ago and they are the best boots I've ever worn. The Quest's are comfortable to wear straight out the box and I'd say it took me about 10 miles to properly break them in. They fit perfectly. The grip is fantastic and I instantly noticed the difference and the sole is sturdy yet responsive. They have actually made me walk more than usual because they are that great! I can't stress enough how much I love these boots

This is my first Quest boot and after all of the reviews and praise with previous models these live up to the hype! I am a hardcore and hard wearing Speedcross fan. With that being said, these boots bridge the gap when I am carrying a pack. I am waiting on a restock of the green color scheme :)
