Slippery to the point of being dangerous.

After a long anticipated wait. I purchased the Timp 2's. I am a HUGE fan of the 1.5's (own 4 pairs) as well as the Lone Peaks (own 3 pairs). I was SHOCKED at how tight the T 2's are. The insole is crazy thick so I have had to go up a half size and use the insoles from my 1.5's. They fit ok but nothing like the 1.5's, sadly. I fear Altra is looking to broaden its customer base to a more common consumer instead of catering to your "cult" following that has made your company.. New is not always better and the Timp 1.5 remains my fav. You would have done well to keep it the same but with new colors and maybe a Vibram sole.

I've worn at least eight pairs of Timps in the last couple of years and the Timp 2's are a fundamentally different shoe. They fit snug and don't have the same wide toe box that the earlier Timps had. The shoe is objectively fine, but nothing like the previous Timps.

The shape of the toe box is markedly different from my Timp and Lone Peak 4's (they fall back away from the big toe towards the pinkie toe (more like a Birkenstock shape). The forefoot is much tighter and the toe box volume is less. The overall length and width is true but the fit is very different than my other Altra's. These are going back for something more Altraish.

I've worn both the Timp 1.0 and 1.5, but the 2.0 is too narrow, especially in the toe box. I like the tread and the cushioning, but the toe box is not good.

I had recently found the Timp 1.5 and it felt so good on my wide feet (I have Morton's Neuroma as well), so I decided to try on the Timp 2, and I didn't even try to walk in it because it was already pinching the nerve just putting it on. Why did you have to change the toebox width and feel? That's the biggest selling point of these shoes for me! I do think the color schemes look good, so I gave 2 stars instead of 1. Now to gobble up the clearance 1.5's...

Wow, almost a great shoe. Really good fit except that the forefoot width is very tight and the shoe hole rim is painfully tight on my MTP (top of big toe joint). Seems like a design issue. I can tell if I tried I wouldnt make it 3 miles before crying uncle. Luckily Altra has a great 30 day return policy. Going to have to try a different model or find the Timp 1.5's on sale.

I like all the new changes but the width is too narrow so I am going to try 1 size larger. As others have suggested just make the different widths so the EE crowd can enjoy the right length and foot shaped width. I am afraid the 1 size up may give me right width but a loose gap in the length. so sad for I love Altra shoes so much. Steve

Even with its shortcomings (terrible traction on wet rock, weight), the Timp 1.5 was one of the most comfortable all-day trail shoes I've ever worn. I had hoped that that 2.0 would address the traction issues and with the addition of the Quantic midsole would shed some weight. Perhaps it did, but the 2.0 is Speedgoat narrow in the midfoot and metatarsal areas and is painful to wear. I even tried going up half a size and it was still unacceptable. Altra, what the heck happened?

I bought the timp first edition, that shoe lasted me 1.5 years, it was a great shoe! So I figured that this new timp would be better. Its not! It fits good as fas the length goes, but the width feels very narrow and makes My feet numb. I am returning them immediately. Why has Altra. Hanged the widths of their shoes?

I wore out pairs of TImp 1 and TImp 1.5. I ordered the TImp 2 without hesitation. After a mile the back of my heels have dime sized-blisters. Never been more disappointed in a shoe. I was a huge Altra fan. Maybe the TImp 3 is better, but I'm not hopeful.

Footshape is obviously no longer a thing for this shoe. Altra is obviously appealing to the mainstream narrow foot market with this shoe. Gone are the days of wide feet fitting in Altra shoes. Also, I saw a comment on another negative review suggesting they are offering footshape for "everyone", can you just tell me which shoe fits like the original Timp and I'll buy that one. Because the Timp 2, which to me is the logical choice, fits nothing like the original Timp.

My second review totally opposite my first one. These did not last! Fit was snug but not sloppy but my foot ripped through the outside on both shoes in shut 1 month. Less than 146 miles on them. Ok was hopeful, but these are junk. Waste of money.

Everything about the Altra shoe that made it unique has been scrapped. The Timp 1.5 was the best trail runner/hiker I've ever worn. The feel was comfy and spacious, with room to splay the toes. The 2.0 feels much narrower and tighter. It no longer feels like an Altra, instead it just feels like all the other low quality competitor brands. My feet started to ache immediately after I put them on, before I even started running or hiking. I hope Altra listens to their customers because it seems like I'm not the only one disappointed in this shoe. I guess we will all find out when the Timp 2.5 comes out.

I finally found a show for wide feet with the 1.5, the 2 has been changed and doesnt work for W anymore. Is too bad as there are limited options for trail shoes that fit wide feet.

When I slid into the shoe, the total width was perfect, the length was perfect and the heel was nice and snug just perfect, however right in the middle section that she was just way, way too narrow. I have it not been for that I would have not bought any other issue with this for quite some time. I would have a run the shoe on the road

I loved the original Timp! Did a few 100 mile races in them blister-free. The Timp 1.5 were ok but not as good. I was excited to try to the Timp 2, hoping they went back to the original fit. These are horrible!! They are so narrow! I had to send them back as I couldn't even get my foot into them. If Altras are going to lose the width, I'll be switching to Topos.

The shoes and material look nice but I am not sure how they made it that tight!!! I will return it. First time to buy altra, is this the case in all shoes?

This is the best Timp yet. Found the fit, comfort, and added traction to be better then the 1.5. But quality is down right awful, timp 1, lasted 150 miles, thought maybe it was just a bad pair. Timp 1.5 got 300 miles on them. ok on a pr of trail shoes! Thinking Altra got the kinks worked out ordered the 2.0. Out of box loved it. The fit while not as roomy as the past versions still worked for me. The added lugs greatly helped on the loose stuff. But what was the quality issue? The same as ALL prior Timps huge holes/riping on the inside of the foot right were it meets the sole. Timp 2 not even lasting 100 miles the worst yet, and they are also tearing on the outside of the foot as well. While I'm not giving up on altra, the superior and torin seam to last, just no more Timp

I have had three pairs of TIMPS. Decided to pull the trigger on a fourth pair. After reading the reviews I ordered a full size bigger and could still barely fit my foot in the shoe. Too much revolution, not enough evolution!! Bring back the 1.5.

I've owned 3 pairs of the TIMP 1s and 1.5s, so I had high expectations of the TIMP 2s. This is a huge let down. The toe box is much more cramped and the shoe really squeezes on your metatarsals. To make things even worse, there is a ton of heel slip with this new model. I was able to put on a fresh pair of 1.5s and do a 10k without any issues, whereas the 2.0s really beat up your feet. I hope that Altra reconsiders their design changes.

This this shoe made me fall backwards. I wasn't even running, I was just walking down the street (not even trail) on a downhill on a slightly rainy night. I am still recovering from a cervical sprain :-(. Having worn vibram soled shoes for many years. I never imagined such a horrible fall just on a shoe model whose sole is sold as non-slip, I didn't even dare to use them on the trail. Only on super dry road or a treadmill.
