i wanted to love this shoe... but its not wide anymore. i have wide feet, i moved to the TIMP 1.5 cause of the change to the Lone Peaks toe box... and now ya'll narrowed the TIMP's.
Please go back to your roots... Lone Peak's 3's and 3.5 were great. and TIMP's 1.5 where great too...
Moving to the Olympus
i'm so tired of having to change models within this Brand. Just stick with a shoe that is tried and true to what people love.

I have had 3 pairs of the TIMP 1 and 1.5s, absolutely love them. Read the reviews on the TIMP 2.0, but I couldn't put off new shoes any longer and took a chance. I have a high volume foot and I didn't even get as far as tying the TIMP 2.0s before the pain on the top of my foot gave an emphatic thumbs down to these. A shoe this different should not be called a TIMP.

I have been a long-time Altra fanatic, they have really been the only shoe that fits my wide high volume foot. I have been using Altra for trail running and long-distance backpacking going back to the Olympus 2.0 and Lone Peak 3.0 (my personal favorite, I've had 3 pairs of the regular and 2 pairs of the insulated). The Timp 1.5 was practically perfect, and now the 2.0 has transformed into a narrow, low-volume typical runner with a sole barely suitable for a gravel road. The vertical volume toe-pinch in the foot-box is the most pain I have ever felt in a shoe, and having to size up, even more, to get close to a foot-shaped toe-box is maddening. What are you guys doing? It kills me almost as much as the Timp 2.0 has killed my feet. It hurts Altra, it really hurts. I'm glad Hoka One One has started making Wide sizes. Maybe they'll start making zero drop (or even 2mm drop like the direction Altra is heading in), so I can fully transition to a new brand.

First had Torin 3.5s that were wonderful. And when redesigned switched to Timp 1.5. Loved them!
Saw the reviews about Timp 2 being too narrow but had to try anyways. I am female so I though there was a chance that my feet would fit. I wear Altra men's 11. Unfortunately the Timp 2 was too narrow and pinched my outer toes.
I'll include my other reviews here as I have now tried 6 models and it appears there is no Altra for me.
In order of what I'd get if they were comfortable.
Timp 2.0 had the best sole for me but the upper was too tight. If they just made it a little taller then it would probably work.
Lone Peak 4.5 were fairly comfortable but have such a hard sole that my back and knees hurt walking in them. However they had enough toe room and didn't rub my feet in any wierd spots.
Escalante 2.5 had a much better cushion than Lone Peak 4.5. However it has a weird cup shape to the heel that rubs my left foot inner forward heel oddly.
Torin 4 has odd elastic straps that hold the tongue down. These irritated me on both feet. Cushioning was good and toe room was good.
Torin 4.5 plush had the same weird spot that hurt my inner forward heel that the Escalante 2.5 did.
Paradigm 5 was very stiff and seemed like an orthodic that was pushing my feet into strange positions that hurt.
I am looking for a cushy walking shoe. Don't know where to turn next.

I wear the Timp 1.5s every day. They are the most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. I can't even get my foot in the Timp v2 as they are so narrow around the midfoot. I don't understand the drastic redesign and pretending it is the same lineage of shoe.

This used to be THE most comfortable sneaker for my semi-wide feet. They have since changed the shoe significantly. They narrowed the front of the shoe and changed the style such that it was tight in the arch. I tried 2 larger sizes, but the new style was still too narrow and uncomfortable.

I have had the Timp 1.5, those are great, wide toe box and soft and springy. These Timp 2.0 have a narrow toe box and are stiff, also the ankle area rides really low. Way to go Altra, you ruined a great thing

Super low volume, tight on the upper & about a -1 in size. If you've run either of the previous Timps you'll be disappointed in this version, I think; I know I was.. I've resorted to running in my old timps & lone peaks w/ waaay too many miles on them & hoping Altra can redeem itself w/ a "new & improved" trail shoe that sticks closer to their mission...

Was the designer of this shoe drunk? It's nothing like the other Timps. Way to small. The toe box is cramps. The cushioning is all in the heel. Stiff. Just an awful shoe.

After a little over 300 miles, the uppers are totally trashed. Both shoes have blowouts in the mid foot on both sides (4 blowouts!). The soles have plenty of life left, but My socks are visible through the sides of the shoes in many places.
I've never had a trail shoe blowout this quickly and utterly disintegrate on the sides like this. I really liked the balance between cushion and trail feel, but I absolutely wouldnt buy these again. And looking online at reviews of this and other Altras, this seems to be a persistent issue.
Yikes. So close to a great shoe.

I wanted to love this product so much after hearing great reviews to the 1.5 TIMP. So I have wide feet and thought this would be a great option for my trail running/walking. I wear a 12 wide in my other shoes. I ordered a 12.5 just to be on the safe side. I had to use a shoe horn and that barely got my foot in. Extremely tight as it did not fit around the diameter of my foot. Could not lace up. Completely uncomfortable. If they were wider I know I would love them which is really frustrating being a bigger hiker.

I've been a happy Altra customer for years. I've owned three pairs of the TIMP 1, pairs of the Lone Peak 4 and Lone Peak Mid, and a couple pairs of Escalantes. I've even converted a couple friends and relatives to Altra. Altra quality has been consistently good across all of the shoes I've owned. However, this year I purchased the TIMP 2 when it came out and the interior heal tore with less than 100 miles of use. When it happened I figured it was a fluke so I just bought another pair of TIMP 2. Unfortunately, the second pair is having the same issue (see photo). Being located on the heal, I feel the tear every step and so the shoes are no longer usable. As much as I loved the TIMP 1's, I have to recommend passing on the TIMP 2's.

While trying on a few different Altra models recently I had the great displeasure of putting this thing on my foot. I love(d) Altra; however, these shoes are so narrow I felt like my foot was going to burst through the top and sides of the upper. The midsole was great I would have purchased this shoe if it had not been for the upper. I don't understand why a company founded on making wide shoes is starting to make the narrowest shoes on the market.

I have gone through two pairs of Timp 1.5 and they fit very well. I couldn't find any more 1.5s so I bought two pair of Tiimp 2.0 in my size and next size up. I had heard the Timp 2.0 was more narrow and thought at least one pair would work for me. I was wrong. The Timp 2.0 have been made so narrow that I had to return both pair and now must find a shoe similar to Timp 1.5 in width. Why the drastic change in width?

If you're an Altra user and you're buying this shoe based on past Altra experience DO NOT BUY THIS SHOE!!!! I have owned at least 20 pairs of various trail and road models of Altras including Timp 1.5's and at least 8 pairs of Olympus shoes and have never had an issue. I got these, laced them up expecting a normal Altra experience, and within 2 miles both heels had blisters the size of silver dollars. Altra changed something in the heel counter of these Timp 2.0's that makes them unusable. Hands down the WORST Altra experience I have had.

The Timp 1.5 was my favourite shoe. The Timp 2.0 is much narrower so these don't fit my feet. Sorry Altra, you had a great product but you changed it. I hope your Timp 2.5's return to being made for wide feet.

Altra has been the best of dozens of pairs of running shoes I've owned...over 10 pairs of Timp 1.5 trail runners in training, ultras, etc. Unbelievably predictable out of the box, technically perfect, great fit, great engineering, etc. Have 5 pairs of different Altras across other use cases.
What happened with this 2.0 redesign will remain an ultra running mystery forevermore. It's worse than a disaster because the one shoe that could be counted on is no longer available and there's no reason to believe the next version of the Timp will revert to the version that worked. To be specific: treads were worn and have nearly disappeared before even 200 miles of wear in relatively tame east coast trails; foam outer ripped to shreds; broken toes from weaker rock guards; relatively speaking, lower profile and flimsier material eliminated all sense of support on awkward trail angles, thinner sole makes rock/root running brutal, etc.
This is no fun - couldn't begin to count the number of people I've told to get Altras for trail running and have loved the company over a long period of time. Incredibly hard to understand the design choices, though, and when you count on equipment to perform a certain way, it's a bummer to feel like you need to start looking someplace else for the same level of predictability that was once here. It looks like there are other devoted fans of your shoes that feel the same way...hopefully the feedback helps.

Embrace the space? Not in this model. The timp 2.0 was shrunk compared to the timp 1.5. The shape is also quite different. more linear in the 2.0, & less foot shaped in the 2.0. Very disappointed. The timp 1.5 was a shoe that fit me perfectly. I tried the 2.0 hoping the rumors of shrinkage were not true. Unfortunately they are. I had the same issue an other reviewer has reported about the stitching squeezing down hard over the top of the very beginning of the big toe (widest part of my foot). I was in pain and it left a mark after 10 min walking around the house. No way I can run in this. Altra: please revive the timp 1.5! The attached pics show a side by side comparison of the 2.0 (first shoe) and 1.5(second shoe). there's about 1/4" ish difference in the width!? The biggest differences are in the toe box - right where I need the width the most. Yes, these indeed are the same size- size 10. By the way, the Torin 4.5 fits me better than the timp 2.0. unfortunately the torin feels super cushy- like running on big pillows. I suppose I'll get used that after a run or 2 more....

I have several pairs of Altras. Torin and Lone Peak (shoe and mid). I wear a 10.5 in all of them...as well as every other shoe I own. Ordered the Timp 2, in 10.5, with great expectations. Couldn't be more disappointed. Extremely narrow and tight across my knuckle (behind my big toe). They fit nothing like the other Altras I own. Very uncomfortable. I will not be able to wear them. Hopefully, Altra will address this issue on the next design. Why shrink the height and width of the toe box....the original design is what brought me (and probably most others) to the Altra brand/design.

Why did they mess with perfection? The Timp 1.5 was a perfect trail running shoe with a wide toe box, quality construction and perfect cushioning. The Timp 2 has none of those things. Don't waste your money.

I am so disappointed. For context, I have only ever worn Altra for trail running. I started with several pairs of Lone Peaks but needed the extra cushion provided by Timp 1.5 which I loved. I thought for sure I had found a solid trail shoe for life. They were perfect! But leave it to some genius at Altra to turn my dream into a nightmare with Timp 2.0. Like other reviewers, I found the Timp 2.0 to be much narrower in the mid-foot and toe box areas compared to the 1.5s. They are too cramped for my feet, especially on the outside edges where they have shredded the pinky toe of each foot. I tried larger sizes and nothing worked. I cannot wear these shoes as they cause consistent blistering and pain. This is a very depressing outcome. Altra -- Don't mess with success! Why change a good thing? Now I find myself forced to shop outside the Altra lineup for the right trail shoe.

Huge durability issue. Blew an enourmous hole in the upper on both the right and the left shoe within 200 miles. So much so that I can rotate my entire foot out of the shoe without untying them. I've never torn a hole like this in any shoe in my running career, much less 200 miles. I think this is the least amount of miles I've ever gotten out of a pair of shoes. Don't plan on getting Altra's any time in the near future until they fix this, unacceptable for the price.

i'm not a sponsored backpacker nor am I a brand ambassador. I'm a backpacker/ bikepacker and thru hiker of the AT. I own 9pairs of Altras including 3 pairs of Torin 2.0, 4 Timp 1.5 and 2 other pairs. Altra quite making my Torin 2.0 and I was angry. Now in their wisdom they've "updated" the Timp. The best thing they could do for their loyal consumers would be to remove them from Circulation. These are the worst wide toe box shoes I've ever tried. The fit is lousy. WAY TOO NARROW in the toe box. I measured them across the widest part and they are 1/4 to 3/8 inch narrower! The toe box isn't even remotely wide. I spoke with a very nice young lady in customer service and voiced my frustration. She stated that Altra is aware of the problem but no solution. I purchased my normal size 10.5 and they were way tight. I returned them and tried a suze 11 hoping the larger size might give me some room. No dice. Altra, please fire whoever designed this downgrade and give us back our 1.5. I'm a person who is very loyal to what works for me. I recently purchased a pair of Topo's and will sed how they work out. At least the toe box is wide!

I own several pairs of Altra shoes (Torin, Timp, Superior), and love the fit/feel of the all the shoes. I purchased the Timp 2.0's to replace my Timp 1.5's, and the fit is drastically different. The 2.0's are are MUCH more narrow and press down on the top of my foot. My toes are cramped! I should have listened to the other reviewers with 1.5 experience. Unfortunately, I had to return these. Hey Altra....change it back!

This is the 5th pair of shoes I've bought from Altra, and likely last. Despite the durability sorely lacking, I had a good experience with the Timp 1.5's in terms of fit. I have different sized feet and one is wider than the other (left 12.5/x-wide vs. right 12/wide). Measuring the tow box on either model, it looks the same. However the toe box shape on the 2.0 makes the two outer toes on my left foot fall asleep. The difference in shape seems very subtle, but it's enough to make the shoe useless. Now I'm having a heckuva time finding a shoe that is not only comfortable, but will also fit my foot.
