I own 5 pairs of Altra Timp 1.5's. All are a size 10.5 and all were perfect out of the box. The 1.5's have been upgraded to 2.0. I'm not sure why but everytime a company "UPGRADES" it seems to be a downgrade. And these Altras are no different. The width is way too tight! Bear in mind these are a WIDE TOE BOX! The length is okay but feels a bit tight. Unfortunately I'll need to return these and try a larger size. Very disappointed in Altra.

Convert Altra wearer from Asics, daily morning walker of 3 miles pavement and vineyards. I own 3 pair of Altras, Superior 4.5, Torin 4 and now the Timp 2. The Timp definitely is less boxy than the other two but I feel in a more supportive way which I like. Would order again. BTW, Altra shoes are very well made with excellent tread wear against the big name brand competitors.

This is my fourth pair. I’m glad they’re making more toned-down color choices.

The shoes feel good. Good cushion, good snug heel, and good mid section hold, good traction, good protection from rocks. However, the toe area is wide but too flat. I am wearing them as I write this and my toes are feeling squished. My toes have stated to fall asleep after just wearing them walking around the house.

This pair was to replace the Timps I bought about 18 months ago. I was surprised that the sole was almost a 1/2 inch narrower. My originals were size 11 medium width, that will not fit me in the Timp 2. I am exchanging them to go for the wider sizes. I love my originals, I hope I love these as much

The Altra brand was predicated on a wide toe box and a zero drop and the last two pair of Altra I've bought have felt like every other shoe one the market like Brooks, Saucony, Newton, New Balance etc... I'm not sure why Altra has started to change their fit but I'm not liking it at all. This Timp and the Torin 4.5 Plush were so tight to my foot they feel constrained. I really hope the next versions start to go back to the roots or I'll move on to something else.

Upon receiving the Altra Timp 2.0's I wrote a review on 7/9/20. Afterward I contacted the company letting them know how unhappy I am with this "upgraded" model. I measured the width with a tapeline and while this might not be 100% accurate they were 1/4" to 3/8" narrower across the widest part of the toebox. Altra is VERY AWARE OF THIS! They suggested that I maybe go up a half to full size for a proper fit. I own 4 pairs of Timp 1.5's and all are a perfect fit.

The one thing that is consistent with Altras is how inconsistent their fit is! I was excited about the Timp 2, but the volume is very small , thus cramping the toes.

I had a pair of Timp 1.5 and they were my favorite running shoes ever. I figured the 2.0 would be just as good and based on the reviews I ordered a half a size larger. Even the half size bigger is painful. The toe box is too narrow, but if I go a size bigger the length will be too big.

These shoes have kept me injury free longer than any other running shoe I've tried. I was skeptical to give them a go, but I'm so glad I did. Running shoes fit different for everyone, but for me, the Timps are the ever-elusive "disappear on your foot" kind of shoe. The cushioning is protective and propels you forward. The ride is great. And the materials are high quality. The only drawback with the Timp 2.0 is the traction. They really aren't built for wet and muddy trails at all. Would love an alternate, all-terrain or all weather version.

I purchased this shoe to wear on the golf course because of the comfortable feel and the cleats on the bottom. This shoe is perfect for the golf course. Does not hurt the greens and provides great traction. Love it

Probably one of my favorite shoes I have run in in the last two years. The fit is spot on for me and the midsole feels like the perfect blend of responsive and cushioned. Really nice midfoot lock down but more generous space in the toes. Great shoe for road to trail miles or mid-level technical trail. Going to order another pair before the Timp 3 is released just incase it isn't as perfect for my foot. Honestly psyched on this shoe. First Altra I have purchased since the Lone Peak 3 and due to this shoe have order the Olympus 4 and pre-ordered the Lone Peak 5. This will be my daily shoe this season for sure and hopefully the new versions only get better.

I've owned 2 earlier editions of the Timp, multiple Lone Peak versions, as well as Olympus, and I feel like I've finally found my favorite Altra trail shoe. A great grippy sole, the right amount of cushioning, and a stable stack height, and while a bit more snug width-wise than earlier Timps, this one hits the mark for me. In short, I like it so much that I want to hoard it like some did toilet paper in 2020.

I use the Time 2s on mostly hard pack trails in northern Colorado. Surfaces tend to be dry and rocky and damp and a little mucky in others, but I haven't had any trouble with gripping the different surface types. They feel pretty similar to the Torin 4.5s I use in the road. The mid foot feel narrower than the Torins, which I don't love, but with thinner socks, I have had any problems. The toe box leave plenty of room, though. Light weight, great grip, good cushion, great ground feel. I will definitely buy again and recommend

The Timp2 has changed my life. I had a nagging foot injury at the base/joint of my big toe that had seen little improvement over the course of a couple of years. Getting the Timp2 with its flat footbed/non-elevated heel and extra room in the toe box has seen an incredible improvement in my foot. It's not perfect but it is easily 75% better. Enough so that I could train hard again. I've seen some people say the shoe is too narrow. When new, they did feel a bit snug in the mid foot. I've realized a shoe with an open toe box like this should be more snug in the mid section. Also, I learned quickly you don't need to crank the laces on a shoe like this, it's a different approach. Also, the shoes do break in with just a little use. When I first tried them on I was thinking maybe I should have gone a half size up but I soon realized that normal sizing was perfect for me. Don't crank the laces and get a little time getting used to a different type of shoe (coming from non-Altras) I've seen a few people complain about durability. This is a remarkably lightweight shoe for the amount of cushion it provides. If you want to put a long run in they are a delight in terms of how much cushion they provide for feeling so light. They hold up well enough for their weight. I had read someone complaining about poor traction on wet surfaces. It's pretty dry here in Southern California so I can't directly speak to that on trail. I have noticed the rubber may feel a little slippery on my concrete patio in the morning dew. For me, these are magnificent shoes. Thank you Altra

No exaggeration, I tested around 15 different trail runners before reluctantly trying the Altra Timp 2; Salomons, Sportivas, Nikes, Hokas, and Arc'teryx. Previously, I refused to consider Altra because I thought they looked ridiculous. My foot is low volume and narrow through the heel and mid foot, but my toes splay and I have a flat-ish arch and wide forefoot. Beyond my initial disdain for the aesthetic of Altras, I was worried that my foot would slop around in such a wide shoe. However, this has proven to be the best lockdown from heel to mid foot in a shoe I have ever experienced - and I can still splay my toes as wide as I like. I had not owned Altras before the Timp 2, but the reviews that suggest this is a narrow shoe seem absurd from my point of view. At most, I could understand the sentiment that the toe box vertical volume is average at best (actually contributes to the lockdown feeling for me personally) but they are very wide in the toe box. The sole is excellent - it could be better on wet rocks, but if you've run in Nike Terra Kigers (abysmal when wet), these are miles better. Cushion, lockdown, traction, comfort are all fantastic. I bought three pairs after my first run in them, then a pair of Torin 4.5 plush for road runs, too. I'm sold; I've even started to appreciate the aesthetic the more I get used to these. If you're in the fence, try them on. I think reviews should always be taken with a grain of salt when it's clear that references/comparisons to previous versions are the basis of the rating.

The Timp 2.0 was my first Altra shoe I've ever owned, so I might have a slightly different point of view then others who have owned other Altra's or previous iterations if the Timp. I bought 2 sizes and ended up going with the 1/2 size up from my normal shoe size, which is consistent with feedback I read on many online reviews. I understand how some may have felt that the toe box is a bit constrained, but I've had these for about 3 months now and that tight feeling went away after maybe a week. I've used these mostly for trail running and kicking around the house, and I must say I really love the extra width in the toe box relative to other brands. Prior to Altra I mostly wore Salomon (for trail) and Nike for road running. Based on my experience wearing the Timp 2.0 I definitely expect to purchase more Altra footwear in the future.

These things are great. Fit was a bit tight out of the box, but as they break in and the insole conforms, the fit is becoming perfect. I tried Lone Pines a few years ago and they felt so loose and looked so ridiculous (like flippers) that I swore off Altra. These Timps are wide enough for splay but not sloppy wide, perfect in my opinion. Traction is solid for steep declines on loose fire roads, nice and grippy. The low ratings concern me so I'm loading up on these before Altra reverts back to Daffy Duck shoes.

I have both the Timp 2 and the Timp 1.5 and I absolutely love the Timp 2. It is the most comfortable shoe I have ever hiked in and I have hiked over a 200 miles in them and going strong. It has less drop than the 1.5, more compact and a superior sole. My toes never feel squeezed, so I really don't understand some of the complaints about the toe box and can't say enough good about this shoe.

Neutral gate, perfectly cushioned, built to last, zero drop goodness. Plenty of room to let the toes splay out without looking like clown shoes. I have been trail running in my favorite Lone Peak 3.0's forever, no need to put them down because they are still standing up to the trail. Now with the Timp 2.0, I can finally trail run happily in the summer heat with a lighter, more breathable, trail runner as happily as ever. This shoe doesn't get in the way and holds up to the trails perfectly. After a horrific wakeboarding accident that nearly cost me my right leg, it is the Altra Timp 2.0 that I reach to for easy walking, cushioned and neutral. I also use them for the gym, trying to bring my leg/knee back to the world. Leg press machines, stair master, lifecycle etc... all made better by the comfort of the Timp. I will purchase another pair out of fear that Altra will reinvent the shoe. PLEASE keep this one in your lineup. Change the colors, pretend to make it better, but please keep my favorite trail runner, life shoe around for years to come!

My brother loves Altra's and after the ATC and PCT its hard to say it's just his opinion. So when I was looking for a new trail shoe with some additional cushion due to multiple knee surgeries, I was persuaded to take a look. Out of the box I was skeptical. I have been a fan of light minamilist shoes for a long time. I tend to be more of a triathlete than a trail runner. Initial fit was great for my wide feet, so I decided to give these a go. I love them the more that I wear them. I find them comfortable and stable on the trail and the cushion has been great on my knee as I get back into running and hiking. I take them on short runs and on multiple day back packing trips in good weather and bad, I love them.

These are, as many of the reviews state, narrow for an Altra shoe but there is still ample room in the toe box. The only complaint I have is the sizing, they are a little smaller than the last few pairs of Altras I've had. If they came in 1/4 sizes they're be perfect. The 10.5 fits good, although just a bit too snug on my left foot but I think a size 11 would be too big for my right foot. I wish I could buy one of each!

I primarily use these for walking, used them on a very strenuous 5 mile hike and they are better suited for walking. Absolutely get 1 full shoe size above your normal size, trust me on this. They have the perfect amount of tread for walking and light hikes. The cushion is outstanding, my feet never get sore. I paired these with a pair of Darn Tough socks and it's like walking on a cloud, yet they are very stable. I now look forward to my walks. The only wish I have would be for the laces to be about 2-3" longer.
