I walked the Camino Frances in the 1.5 and loved them. The 2.0 seems to have less room in the toe box. I almost sent them back when I first tried them on. The toe box is smaller! After putting some miles on them, they are just fine. I think they should have stuck to the 1.5 toe box and just called this something other than a Timp. The cushion and grip are wonderful. The toebox, though smaller than the 1.5 is still perfect for my foot. I am also happy to have a black shoe instead of the color options of the 1.5. I dream of a return of the 1.5 in black and gray.

I was hesitant to buy this shoe as I did not care for the Timp 1.5 after loving the 1.0. It felt over constructed and bulky. The Timp 2.0 is a vastly different shoe. It feels much lighter and has the best fit around my heel of any Altra shoe I have ever owned. The toe box and mid foot are not quite as wide as some previous other models, though I had no issue with fit despite wearing Injinji socks with them. The material on the upper feels like the Lone Peak 2.5 in the toe but snugger in the heal. The cushion feels great without being sloppy. I'm very happy with this purchase-

I had the original Timps and they are clunky compared to these bad boys. Want to get a little racy on trails, the 2.0s are perfect for this. The shoe has a lightweight and streamlined design while still proving great traction. I've put 160 miles on these and their durability is at least an order of magnitude better than the Lone Peak 4s. The toe box is a little smaller than the originals, but not unreasonable unless you have Hobbit dogs. Sizing is more accurate and true compared to my other shoes. Give them a try!

Ok, I can't stand it. A lot of whining reviews about how this shoe is too narrow or doesn't fit exactly as a specific person with a specific foot shape wants. My bottom line is that my original size (Mens 11, which is what my other two pair of Altras are sized, both older Lone Peak models) was a bit narrow and tight. But I didn't give up in a fit of whining rage. Low and behold! I exchanged them for a half size up, to Mens 11.5 and they fit great! Super comfortable. My longest run so far has been 10 miles on the road (since all our trails are now closed due to the pandemic) and I had zero foot discomfort. Did not think about my feet at all. When I don't think about my feet when running or walking, I know the shoe is a winner. That's the case with this shoe. That said, the shoe was a bit stiff for the first week or so of casual wear. Yes, the top fabric rubbed ever so slightly against the top of my right foot upon flexing. Stick with it. After several casual wears of the shoe around town and to work, the fabric loosened up and it's no longer an issue. I would go so far as to say perhaps the long term durability over past models may be improved as evident in the stiffer (at first) materials I really love the styling of this shoe. The cushioning is on point for me - firm yet forgiving, I hope it lasts a while. I feel supported in this shoe. It has molded to my foot very well. My experience is that if you order a half size up from your normal Altra trail shoe size, and then give it some time (i.e. a bit a casual break in time), the shoe will come around for you and you'll love it. I plan to run the Zion traverse in October if this pandemic thing allows by then and the Timp 2 is going to be my shoe of choice.

A zero drop Kiger 4 with a wider toebox? SIGN. ME. UP!! My initial impressions of this shoe are great. I feel the same protection as the last version (which was amazing) but lighter and more bounce. I'm really glad Altra used Quantic in this shoe. Is it more narrow than other Altra shoes? Probably. But it's wider than anything you will find by another manufacturer. It's really plenty wide for most people.

The Timp 2 is definitely a different shoe than the Timp 1.5. The Timp 1.5 were my favorite shoes, so comfy and plush. Unfortunately, on a long run that cushion would flatten out. The Timp 2 is a little more firm, but the cushion hasn't gone flat on me during a long run. The upper of the Timp 2 is definitely more durable than the original and the 1.5. I was nervous about the shallower toe box tapering off near the pinky, but it has turned out to be perfect. It has provided a more secure fit for trails and cornering. Having lower volume feet, the 1.5 were a sloppy fit for me which would then result in a blister on my instep on longer runs. This has not been a problem with the Timp 2; the fit is more of a performance fit. Although the tread is improved on the Timp 2, I miss how the tread pattern on the Timp 1.5 created a cantilevered toe rocker which helped improve my efficiency an allowed me to roll through with lower impact and less ground contact time. All in all, the Timp 2 is a great, versatile, all around preforming shoe. It has been my primary running shoe this winter as I never know what I might encounter on a run. The Timp 2 is lighter weight than my Torin 4 Plush (29 grams lighter per shoe at size 12) and I actually prefer running on pavement with my Timp 2 over my Torin 4 Plush.

I like these. They feel like the old lone peaks, before the lone peaks lost their cushioning.

I like the feel and the more responsive midsole. I've seen reviews saying it's too small, but I fit fine in the same size for both. I would suggest you try them on to see how they work for you. Overall, I like these better than the 1.5 given the improvements.

I read a few reviews on here before publishing. They are a little confusing. I wore 6 different pairs of 1.5s...I got real scared when they were out of stock in my size and every color and I called the company panicking. But then the 2.0's came out. I have wore them for about 3 weeks and can say that they feel pretty close to what the 1.5s felt like every time I put on a new pair. Yes they were tight originally but in 2 weeks they just as normal as the 1.5s. I recommend these (ALTRAs) to patients all the time. My wife wore the 1.5s for 16 months since then she has also bought 2 pairs of the 2.0s and really love them. Guy making a speculation about the zero heel doesn't understand the extremely complicated variable of foot biomechanics. This is a heated debate among PH.D.s. The argument is accommodating the heel strike or absorbing the heel strike. Other NON zero heels absorb with material but have to elevate the heel to do so. This is NOT sound biomechanics as this does not occur in nature. Keep up the good work Altra. I look forward putting your shoes everyday.

Ultra running/trail running. I have loved the open toe box but my old Timps were just a tad wide for me. These are still wide but for my feet perfectly. Love the design and color. These are my 6th pair of Altras and are my favorite so far. PS I tried Hokas and they just didn't work for me. I took em back and got these and love them.

The Timp 2.0 is better for me. It fits better and isn't sloppy. They are noticeably lighter weight and the cushion is great. I recommend these shoes. They are better than the 1.5's. I might buy another color, I like them so much.

Give this version a chance and I think you'll agree. When I first put the 2.0 on I thought oh boy this is snug but after running in it for 25-30 miles I can say it's a vast improvement. The upper does loosen up a bit and the overall fit is far superior to the previous versions. This is a locked down racer imo. I bought my normal size and a 1/2 size larger based on reviews but wound up staying with my normal size.

This is my first zero-drop shoe since the original Brooks PureGrit, which was an awesome shoe with a terrible outsole. Since then I've put hundreds of miles on Hoka OneOnes, which I've always felt are way too soft a mushy, and the Saucony Peregrine series, which I've always had to size up in order to get a roomy toe box. Having never owned the Altras, I knew I was taking a risk with these, particularly in light of the negative reviews from Timp 1.5 fans. With condolences to my fat-footed brethren and sistren, these shoes fit my feet perfectly. I don't have to size up or down to get a good lockdown on my heel and plenty of wiggle room in my toes. These shoes are sturdy without feeling wooden, and cushiony without feeling mushy. Plenty of protection yet fairly light and nimble. Lacking the questionably-functional adornments like the goofy tail rudder of the Lone Peak, these shoes are simple, effective and a joy to run in.

I'm a long time Altra user, and absolutely believe in what they're trying to do. I also continually *want* to believe in Hokas, but they continually force me to teeter between agnosticism and atheism when it comes to their products. The new SpeedGoat 4 in Wide is a great example. If you haven't looked at it yet, let me save you some time. Don't waste your time. Get the Timp 2.0 instead. I went for my first gnarly trail run in this shoe today, and it is very clearly the best trail shoe I've ever owned, for rugged trails. That being said - it isn't perfect. I'm not going to be too critical with what I'm about to say, because I know sometimes when the sole of a shoe is brand new, it needs to be "scuffed in" somewhat to get better grip. But on this first run, it was frighteningly poor on wet rock surface. And my main training location has lots and lots of granite rock face, much of it quite steep. It rained yesterday, all day. So - I'm still hopeful it is going to be a better shoe on wet rocks within a few weeks. So what do I love? Obviously the fit. Some people are complaining it is now too narrow. I don't think so, and I have extremely wide feet across from the small toe to the ball of my big toe region. I have no issue with the fit of the Timp 2.0. Some of my other Altra shoes in the past (I'm looking firmly at you, multiple iterations of the road-going Escalante...) tend to have the heel fall out of the shoe constantly. Not so with the Timp 2.0 - my forefoot is free to splay, my midfoot is beautifully comfortable, and my heel is going nowhere. The fit is near perfect. Let me get to the midsole. Wow. It is soft, but notsoggy (SpeedGoats are borderline soggy). It is thick enough that it doesn't need a rock plate. It is soft and thin enough to have a decent amount of flexibility. (I'm a minimalist form runner, so love flexible shoes.) I feel like the midsole is perfect for banging it big time mileage. Out of room to write more - just buy some!

I see lots of complaints here about the width. Looks like the Timps have gained a loyal following as the Altras for the wide-footed. For the rest of us though, while comfy as slippers, the earlier versions were very unforgiving for being the slightest bit sized up. Personally, 10.5 was too small and in the 11 I was rolling and having my heal slide. This shoe addresses that. Locked in. Better lacing. It's less cushy than the 1 and 1.5 that felt like they had a memory foam sole. So in a lot of ways it's just not the same shoe. For me though: lighter, more durable, more locked in. Better shoe. Normal to narrow feet? These are great. Wide-footed Timp 1 and 1.5 fans, sorry for your loss. I know pickings are slim for you.

I love these Timps! I have always felt the toe-box in Altras was a bit big for me, but these shoes fit perfectly for those of us new to the brand or not familiar with the big boxy shoes of the past. I have die hard friends who have been in Altra for years that also love these shoes, so i am perplexed by how someone can rate this shoe poorly based on width when this is a standard width shoe. If you need a 2E, then yes, a D width will likely not fit and it's just been a blessing that you've made it this far in Altras with a truly wide foot. That's not a shoe problem.. don't be fooled folks, this shoe is legit!

After about 30 miles on these, I really feel confident in saying that they nailed it. The do run a half size smaller than the Timp 1.5, so I swapped up. They fit perfectly! The upper is noticably more durable than the 1.5 and the lugs are definitely more capable. Great shoes!

I've put 70 miles on this shoe in the last 5 days (including a 50k race-paced run) and think its an awesome shoe. I have been a big fan of the Torin 4 for training and racing (I ran a 50m trail race in the Torins) and this shoe feels really similar to it in terms of cushioning and responsiveness. I think it will be a new go-to shoe for me for trail running when more traction is required. It's technically a tad bit heavier than the Torin but I didn't notice a difference during fast strides or my 50k effort. So happy they used the same Quantic material for the Timp 2 that they do in the Torin 4. Feels really familiar. The Timp 2 cushioning does feel a bit more protective than the Torin (probably because of the lugs) and running over rocks feels much more comfortable. DEFINITELY has better lockdown than the Timp 1.5 in my opinion. Toe box feels a tad narrower than the Torin 4 but still feels wide enough for my foot. Nothing like Hoka. I've tried the Challenger wide and this is still much much wider than that. Definitely still a true Altra toe box fit.

On my first try, I to could feel the narrowness that everyone else seemed to explain. I even read the reviews before purchasing and still decided to get my usual size to feel for myself. At first glance I could tell the forefoot was tight as if I was putting on a soccer cleat...not ideal. I always fear going a half size too big in case it leads to increased friction and hot spots around the heel or toes. So before sending them back I took a closer look at the insoles, which are more dense and thick than pretty much every other model including the Olympus and Lone Peak. Taking the soles out and trying the fit was so much better that I almost contemplated running without them. But I switched them out for an older pair of my Superiors which were still in good shape. If you can, get these and replace the insoles for something thinner. These shoes provide a great light feeling that connects you to the trail and gives a nice springiness due to its cushion. The footprint also feels more similar to my actual foot. For me that is a major pro for all running shoes especially if you do not like the chunky feeling that the Olympus and even the LonePeaks give.

This is for the 1.5 version I docked a star because the 2 models are now too narrow. I was told by Altra representative that the next generation will have a wider toe box. The 1.5 Timps have a super comfortable fit , wide toe box with just the perfect amount of cushion. Not to little or too much you can really put the miles on in these! My fingers are crossed they take the Timps back to their roots.
