Great shoe, but only shoes thats blistered all the tips of my toes. way narrow in the toe and half size small. Good when feet are cold, but once they start to swell, its not good.

I love the footbed and how it's "foot-shaped". But, the overall volume of the shoe is very small. The top of the shoe pushes down on your foot a lot. I found the TOPO's to be much better in this regard so rather than trying to break these in, I decided to return these. It's possible that these might stretch, but they felt VERY tight to me.

My husband's TIMP 1.5 fit him perfectly in a 12M. The new 2.0? Nope. Way too narrow. Going back.

I started with the Timp 1s and loved them every though they looked terrible. I loved how the style and colors improved with the 1.5s. I bought two pairs.
I hoped the improvements we continue with the 2s but was very disappointed. The material for the toebox feels way too constricted, even after going up half a size. And I have no idea why they removed the loop from the heel that made it so much easier to put the shoe on and take it off.

Loved the fit and cushion of these. Unfortunately I can't recommend them because they seem to fall apart for me around the 200 mile mark. I've gone through 3 pair now with the same issue every time.

I was so disappointed when I had to return these shoes. There's not enough room and zero room for any give right where the ball of your foot goes, right beneath the laces. I feel like the lace holes are too low, too close to the sole, and there is absolutely no give in the material. Every other part of the shoe works, but this one area causes pain and squeezes the base of my big toe and the whole base of your foot in the toe box. Other reviewers have said the same thing. It's unbelievable and extremely disappointing to me that this was put to market with such an obvious flaw. I really wanted to like these shoes.

I echo many of the other reviewers thoughts...I wouldn’t say that this is a bad shoe, but I would say that if you liked the previous version it’s highly unlikely that you’ll enjoy this one. The 1.5 may have been just a smidge sloppy in terms of fit, but altra WAY overcompensated when trimming the 2.0 down and it’s lost all of what makes altra special (namely, a spacious toe box).

I've been wanting to switch to altras for a while now and finally bought these to try. Honestly I believe altra made a mistake and knows it. How could they not. The shoe is unbelievably shallow. I took the insole out and it fit like every other show I have ever tied on in my size that fit. As if it was designed perfect that way, then they added 'high cushioning'. I contacted altra and they said I can just wear the shoe without the insole. Who does that? I should be able to return the insole so that I can offset the cost of an insole that fits. If one exists. The insole is about 6mm and if it was 3mm I honestly believe all these reviews would be singing these shoes praise. These should be on discount. This shoe was built wrong. It's in no way meant to have a 6mm insole. Hopefully I figure something out.

I have had older version TIMPs for a couple of years and they have been great but are worn out. Extremely comfortable, stable, and durable over a wide range of terrain. When it came time to replace them I purchased the TIMP2 which are very comfortable but I have only had them for less than 3 months of easy to moderate hiking, no running, and the tread is already over half gone, to the point of being dangerous on the decomposed granite seen on many local trails. At the price I would expect them to last longer than 3 months of moderate use.

Old Timps fit well, especially the Timp 1.5. Timp 2 is narrower and crimps the front of my foot and toes from the top, no matter how loosely they are laced. I'm very disappointed because I really liked the Timp 1.5. I have worn the Timp 2 for 5 hours and they are killing my feet. They are going back.

I love Altras and have never had a problem with fit. The Timp 2s are way too narrow though - doesn't feel like an Altra at all. :( Hopefully it's fixed in the Timp3

The feel of the Timp 2 is inferior to the Timp 1.5. Timp 2 toe box is is uncomfortable and way too tight. Very disappointed. Bring back the Timp 1.5.

I have used the worn out my previous model of this shoe and love it. I wanted to get another pair and found the fit of the new one is way too narrow. Bring back the previous fit, please.

This was my first pair of Altra trail shoes. From the moment I put them on they felt great on my feet. I enjoy running in them. I have 2 issues with them. 1. The rocks here in Arizona are pretty bad and without a rock plate even the 29mm stack many rocks are felt. But I adjusted where to wear these and chose to wear my new Olympus 4.0 when hitting the rocky hills. 2. The durability. The side is starting to fray and an hole is forming after 116 miles. I know the terrain I run in will wear out the tread around 300 miles, but I still expect the shoe to hold together without abuse. I gave the mark of 2 stars due to the fact that they will not last another 50 miles before the hole gets bigger. The other shoe isn't as bad, but it is starting too. Also fraying on the outside of the foot area...
As far a fit and comfort, I would rate this shoe a 4.5 - 5.0 star (at least for my feet).

I'm a long-time Altra consumer and run in the Timp (for trail) and Torin (for road) almost exclusively. The Timp has been the best trail shoe I've ever worn for quite some time, as I've loved the typical wide toebox that is characteristic of Altra shoes and the responsive, fast feel of the zero drop sole. The cushioning was just right. Unfortunately in this iteration of the shoe, the toebox is so narrow I can hardly wear the shoe (it feels like a typical mass-market running shoe) and the roomy but responsive feel is totally gone. I'm holding out hope that the next iteration is a return to what made the Timp a great shoe to begin with. Really though, why would Altra narrow their toebox? Isn't that their thing?

Cushioning on sole was good. There was too little room on the upper. Not any where near as comfortable as my lone peak 4.5. It felt a size too small and placed pressure on the top of my foot. Very uncomfortable.

These shoes really hit the mark for me with the exception of durability. Blew out both medial sidewalls in less than 150 km. Same problem with 2 pairs of the 1.5's. I've never had this problem with thousands of km's on 2 pairs of superior 4's, and the Torin 4's. Altra's customer service and warranty were great as always, but I can't see myself buying any more iterations of this shoe until they have beefier overlays on the whole medial portion of the shoe. It's a shame, because these are incredible otherwise. In regards to the tighter fit, I went up a half size and they were perfect in width and the toe box.

As a long term altra fan, it appears in many of the newer models, lone peak 45 and the timp 2, are getting more and more narrow and even shrinking the toe box. They no longer fit my foot and no longer differentiate what made their shoes so special.

Went with my go to Altra size. Concerned with the initial fit. Very narrow (compared to previous versions and Altra in general) across the forefoot/ball of my foot no matter how much I let out the laces there. Will give them a little bit to break in I guess and hopefully return to update with good news but unfortunately I am not holding my breath.

I really don't understand what happened here. This shoe is so narrow, so closed in, that it seems to represent everything that Altra is trying to remedy in shoe design. What happened to the wide toe box? Not only is there no additional width, but the shoe actually feels narrower than many standard shoes on the market.
The midsole feels great, hence my 2 stars. But what good is a good midsole if you feel like you are running in clogs?

i'm a backpacker not a runner. I own 4 pairs of Timp 1.5 shoes. This message is for those who say the Timp 2 is perfect and those of us complaining don't know what we're talking about. The new shoe IS LESS WIDE AND THAT'S A MEASURED FACT! I purchased my normal size and immediately had to return them. I tried a size 11 ( 1/2 size up) and still way too tight in the foot box. The people who claim the shoe is perfect must have a foot like Popeye's girlfriend Olive Oil. I unscientifically measured the toe box with a set of calipers and they were 1/4 " less wide than all 4 pairs that fit perfectly. Altra should removed them from the market, fire the design team,, swallow their pride and admit their error. Please bring back what made you stand out. The WIDE TOE BOX!

I really want to love these shoes. The comfort and fit are ideal for me and my feet. The real issue I have is durability. The inside walls have blown out on me after about 100-150 miles on 3 pairs in a row (and I've been foolish enough to keep buying more). I finally came to the realization that I can't afford this. The fabric material and point of flexure just behind the big toe on the inside wall doesn't seem robust enough to hold up after lots of miles. If Altra wants to keep making this shoe, I think they'd need to look at different material or additional reinforcement in this part of the shoe.
Until then I'll be looking to other models, which makes me sad because the Lone Peak has never felt quite as good on my foot as this one. I'm curious about the Olympus as well.

The new Olympus 4 has more volume and width- it's sort of like a hybrid Olympus 3 and a Timp 1.5. For those of us mourning the loss of that Timp- it looks like Altra made a clear decision to cater to thru hikers and ultra runners by making a big, bad, Vibram covered monster. This makes perfect sense because we should get more than 300 miles out of it (Timps broke down) and the super wide base should help with the high volume shoe getting sloppy. It feels like walking on a cloud and is geared toward foot pain reduction.

Just received Timp 2.0 from Road Runner Sports. Tried them on and realized the comments from many reviewers were on the money - this shoe redesign does not favor many who enjoyed the previous version. It felt as cramped as any shoe I have ever had on, so much so that the room in the foot box could not be appreciated. I walked around the house for a few minutes and in addition to the overall tightness, felt discomfort in the knuckle of the big toe where the combination of "no room" and the top of the lace bed dug into my foot. I own Timp 1.5s and Olympus 3.5s and would recommend either one to most anyone, but you can no longer find either shoe in my size. On a positive note, the sole of the new Timp seems like it would be more durable than the 1.5's, but I will never know for sure. These are going back.
