Compared to the Timp 1.5s, which I loved, these feel smaller at the same size, and narrower. I'm giving them a chance to break in and loosen up, but they were downright painful at the end of a 20 miler last weekend. I know shoes need to get tweaked and whatnot, but for the life of me I don't understand why size is one of the things that gets adjusted. This is my 6th or 7th pair of Altras, all the same size, and this is the first pair to feel small.

Really just want a zero drop shoe for my wide foot for walking on the street and casual wear. Never really needed a trail runner. Altras are too NARROW now. Bought 7 pairs of 1.5s because the fit me just right! They will all wear out eventually .

The Timp 1 is the best trail shoe I have ever had. I've kept using my old timp 1 cause the latter timps just don't fit me. They're tighter in the forefoot area in the roof of the forefoot and they have a harder top. So even when the width works somewhat, the foot feels pushed from the top, the vamp area I think that's what they call that area. I don't understand why they changed this shoe. The timp 1 was just perfect for me. It was simply amazing. It freed my feet to run freely. I used to wear a Brooks cascadia and my feet were numb after running!! It was horrible!!! The timp 1 was heaven, I felt my feet throughout my run'n I could even keep wearing them after running. So, I decided to keep my old pair cause I just couldn't find the timp 1 anywhere anymore. I've tried the other timps, they're just too tight for me now. So, I still run with my old timp!! I'll keep pushing it till I hopefully find another shoe that works. The lone peak was good, I like it's soft sole, but it's right for me in the same area. I hope perhaps they might do the timp the way it was again. I would recommend this shoe to a friend if it fits them!! But for me it doesn't work!!

This is hands-down the best fitting trail shoe I've ever had. I almost immediately purchased a second pair so I could keep a pair at the office. However the shoe started falling apart before a hundred miles and is completely worthless by 150. My other pair is also in pretty bad shape so this appears to be a design flaw not a lemon. I will be waiting for the 2.5 or the 3 before trying another pair.

Altra, why would you alienate people who depend on this model? I have struggled to find my trail shoe sole mate until the Timps came out. The 1 and 1.5 were great, I bought a few pair of each. I finally bought the 2.0 and they are stiff, squeeze my foot in a way the others did not, and are rub the top of my foot harshly. Previous versions were race ready out of the box. I will be lucky if I can get these to "break in". Altra, please, please, please go back to what worked when you do release the Timp 3's. Until then, I'll be looking for a replacement to my sole mates.

Enjoyed the previous models. The cushion is great but the foot slides laterally and is unstable. I've never had a pro twitch altra sizing but feel this is a half size too big. The laces are a minor but important aspect in that they are slick and don't hold tight.

Will accept orthotics. Inner cushioning is lacking. These feel somewhat on the smaller size. Would not likely purchase again.

This was almost absolutely the perfect shoe for me, but it was just too narrow in the 4 foot. I'm serious, everything else I feel was great about the shoe. I am going to continue to wear but certainly not on long runs.
I already sent one pair back, a road shoe and I hate to abuse the return service program, but might just have to return, I don't know

I have had a half dozen Altras and loved them until this. Buy them because of wide toe box but didn't expect these to be so narrow. Can't wear them.

The TIMP feels as if Altra forgot to account for the height of the footbed. I have low volume feet, and the top of my foot is slammed into the upper. So tight that loosening the laces did nothing.

I love the extra cushioning, bought a half size up after trying a 9.5, 10 was a good fit. I run on mainly gravel roads and some trails so not hardcore but after about two months the sides of the mesh upper showed serious wear and tear. By month three I had blown out the sides on both shoes. I really love the Timp but can't justify the cost for such short use.

I REALLY liked the TIMP 1.5 so was very excited to try the 2.0. Sadly, they do seem narrower in the fore foot. Also, I'm not sure if its just the change in width but they do seem just slightly shorter than the 1.5's. If they just go back to the wider width I think we'd have a winner again.

I've loved the Torin and after reading a bit and learning that the Timp was kind of a 'trail Torin' I thought I would try a pair out. Less than 300 miles and the pinky toes are already blowing out; durability is lacking (I've owned plenty of lone peaks including the mids that have all lasted 500+ miles with no blowouts). Will likely try something else once these are completey done.

I loved this shoe. It originally gave me a little rubbing/a nasty blister on my back right ankle but after a brief week long break in period it was stellar. The extra cushion compared to the Lone Peak's was nice, although I missed the rock plate on the descents. I also personally feel more stable in the Lone Peak 4.5's, other than in the toe box, which the Timp 2.0 feels a touch more snug, maybe a bit better for cornering? But overall in downhill performance the Lone Peak 4.5's outmatched the Timp 2.0's significantly.
The issue: durability. My lone peak 4.5's typically blow out/I deem unusable after 400ish miles of fairly heavy use (60+ miles a week of trail running). I would consider this a very durable trail shoe. My Timp 2.0's, granted I've only had one pair, blew at right around 125/130 miles. I don't know if this is due to the difference in material or a defect of the individual pair but I ordered up a new pair of Lone Peak 4.5's instead and am exceptionally happy, yet again!
Again, I feel as though depending on your running habits/foot specifics this shoe could be a great one! I wouldn't count it out UNLESS you're on super wet, or technical descending.

When I bought the Timp 1.5 for the first time, I thought it was the most comfortable shoe that I have ever run in. Fit great in every way. If I could find the Timp 1.5 again, I would buy it. They have obviously made some design changes to the 2.0, which translates into a narrower and less comfortable shoe. Even the toe box is more narrow and I get hot spots on my feet when running in them. It's disappointing when a new version of a shoe you love is not as good.

I have owned 3 pairs of Timp 1.5 and 2 pairs of 1.0. I read the reviews on the 2.0 running narrow in the toe box. So I ordered up a size. In the image, I have a new pair of Timp 2.0 compared with the Torin 4 that was also ordered. The difference in the toe box design is visually obvious. I run in the Texas heat and swelling in the feet is common on long runs. Altra, please standardize on your toe box design for your customers and it would likely reduce the cost of returns.

Not as wide as it's predecessor, but that was fine by me. Much snugger in the ankle than the 1.5 which was a needed improvement.
My only real issue with this shoe is durability. Sole peel after one round of discgolf.

I really like the new outsole and midsole of the new Timp. The fit in the heal and midfoot are great. The one big drawback for me is the fit in the toebox. This makes me not want to buy these again. I've been wearing Altra road and trail shoes for over 6 years now and without a doubt this model has the most narrowest toebox of the models I've ran in. I might have overlooked this except for the fact that the toebox is also very low in volume. The low volume combined with the decreased width makes for a constrictive feel on long runs. This isn't something you want on a highly cushioned, long mileage shoe. Between the new Timp and new Lone Peak(I miss the Lone Peak 3), Altra has let me down this year on their trail models.

I really wanted to like this shoe. I really loved them except for one critical issue, the height of the upper around the ball of the foot. Other reviewers mentioned this also. The width was fine, the length was appropriate, but my foot would get numb after wearing for about 15 minutes. If Altra can fix this in future versions (without a complete overhaul of all its other great features) I will definitely purchase it again. The mesh upper, cushion, foot last shape, outsole, and weight were great, otherwise.

Like many have said this shoe is just to narrow in the toe box to be considered "foot shaped". The original Timp was a fantastic shoe that needed zero improvements or changes. Unfortunately they did a complete overhaul and messed it up. The feel of the sole is still what I expect but the toe box is just to tight compared to the original. I would never recommend anyone buy this shoe. Instead of using them for trail running like I had bought them for they will be relegated to indoor gym use only seeing as them being tight won't cause to much pain for the hour or so that I'm there. I'm very glad I bought the Lone Peaks RSM mids at the same time. These have become my everyday favorite shoe. I use them for everything from walking the dog to long trail runs and rucks. I wish I could do that with these Timp2's.

Definitely not the TIMP shoe I was used to. I like the more snug ankle and the new traction patter but that's about it. It is uncomfortably narrow and creases hard right below the laces to where it digs into my foot. They may have to ditch the "Shoes shaped like feet" sales pitch.

The Timp has been my go-to as an ultra running shoe since inception (I have owned at least 10 pairs of the Timp 1.0 and 1.5). The Timp 1.5 was probably the best shoe I ever ran in; I was ok with giving up a little durability for the great fit, responsiveness and sticky soles. I am unsure of the direction that the Timp 2.0 is trying to take. The narrowing of the toe box is leaving my pinky toes starved of blood and sore. I am hoping that they 'widen' with my habitual trail runs, but I am a little weary of the upgraded Timp. The soles also feel slightly stiffer, while not bad for high impact, but amplify the narrow ride in the re-designed toe box.

In its pursuit of weight savings and a more "locked down feel" (often meaning trading blood flow for responsiveness), Altra has made each iteration of the Timp (and many other models as indicated by recent reviews) a little bit narrower/tighter than the last. The Timp 2 forefoot seems to be about 1/16"-1/8" narrower than the Timp 1.5, and has about 1/8-1/4" lower height in the toe box (it's a much tighter fit than the 1.5). I don't like to say the shoe is bad because of fit; for those with skinnier feet that have said Altras are too sloppy, this is the shoe for you, but this trend indicates Altra is chasing the narrow foot customer and abandoning everyone else. I feel like they should just bite the bullet and build narrow, medium, and wide versions of their shoes (or at least a medium-narrow and medium-wide). As it stands, the Timp 2 is basically a narrow width that can loosen to a medium-narrow.
The mid-sole is now significantly firmer. It might give more rebound for the higher impacts of running, but for walking it feels like a much lower stack height shoe (not cushy). The Timp was made to fill the gap between the Lone Peak and Olympus, but now it feels like it's stomping into the Lone Peak's territory.
The Timp 1.5 fit me perfectly and I love them (they are a perfect combination of comfort and performance), but I have to send the foot-strangling Timp 2 back. Even if they made a wide version, the heel cup would likely be sloppy (current heel is fine). Even if they fit, I'm not happy with the stiffer mid-sole. Looking at the other models and the trend to tighter fit, I'm going to have to abandon the brand altogether.

Loved the Timp Trail when I first came across it - really loved the 1.5 when they came out. Was looking forward to the 2.0 as a replacement. While I like the new outsole and the overall cushioning, etc., I'm disappointed in the toebox. My foot is literally shaped like a Birkenstock. The new Timp 2.0 feels noticeably narrower than the old ones. Not sure I'll be sticking with these in the future. Bummer. Finally had a shoe that actually fit me. If you have a normal width foot - great shoe. For all us EE's out there - not so much.
