I love the product, but anything north of 4-5 miles running and they would just chew the insides of my feet up. I think these are great shoes, but just not a good choice for me. The company gets a great review though because I got to try their product hassle free and no issues with returns.

For trail use I usually size up from a 12 to a 13. The speedboat 4's are shorter and narrower so I sized up to a 14 Wide and they are still snug.

The grip is great, but the fit could be a little bit better. They fit a little bit loose. More than just a little extra room for the toes. Going down a size made the shoes too small though. This is my fifth pair of Hoka's and even though I love the cushioning hokas provide, the fit could be better on all of them. I think it's time to start looking for a new brand for my running shoes.

I ordered the SG 4 in the same size I normally take in New Balance. I really wanted to like these. I wore these on 3 hikes (about 7 hours of total hiking) with lots of ascents and descents in both dry and muddy conditions. The grip was amazing including when traversing boulders. The main complaint is that the toe box (normal width) was too sloppy. I tried different lacing solutions and socks but nothing worked. The first hike resulted in a toe blister. The second hike was better but my feet hurt. The last hike resulted in more foot pain (this was the most technical hike). If I went down a half size, my toes would hit the front. I think in the effort to alleviate some of the complaints with prior models, Hoka expanded the toe box and in doing so feet like mine are no longer a good fit. I think these are probably great shoes for many but not if your foot runs a bit narrow.

Feel narrower than the previous pair, not as comfortable. As if it was made by another manufacturer on a different mold. The sole is not as thick as it was.

Very comfy and my heel pain was gone on my first 10 mile hike with my speedgoats. However my small toes were sore after about 4 miles. Maybe I should have went a size bigger????

Everything was great about this shoe except the top.
Completely fell apart. I only wear these at work. Restaurant server.
Never outside.
Worn out holes all over the tops.
Only had them for nine months.
Won’t buy again.

I wasn't aware that Gore-Tex makes a shoe feel smaller. It was very uncomfortable when I put my foot in it!

I love the comfort of these shoes but given the price, they aren't holding up too well. The ankle support color has rolled downward on itself creating a bump just behind my ankle. Im careful about putting my shoes on correctly; I unlace and loosen the shoe before putting it on. I don't just cram my foot in which can cause this sort of issue. I've only had them about a month. Not sure if I would purchase again.

The tongue scrapes the crease of the top of my foot. Size is weirdly small. Very uncomfortable. I have had the Clifton 8s and they are awesome. Avoid these.

I have purchased 2 pair of Hokas within the last 6 months for walking. I walk a minimum of 3 miles per day mostly on paved walking trails. The tread on the shoe wears out in about 2 1/2 to 3 months. Love the comfort and support on this shoe. My only complaint is the tread wears out very fast.

Firm and stiff - what many want for hiking and trails. I found to be too inflexible for my aching feet and ankles

Nice ride. excellent traction. great for my super wide feed (bought 2E). But the tongue is simply weird. it's thin and short, perfect to poke my shin. I've never seen a tongue like it. why? why? why?

The speed goat 4 seems a little on the small side and narrow even though I ordered wide. And the tongue is just a thin piece of material. I would not buy again

Not as wide as you'd think. I had high hopes for these, but they just aren't wide enough. It felt like walking on clouds though, tight clouds.

I wear size 10 on all my Hoka running shoes. But this Speedgoat 4 running shoes in size 10 felt 1/2 size larger. Will have to return and re-order down size to 9 1/2.

Coming from the Brooks Cascadia, I wanted to try the Speedgoat because of the maximalist cushion they offer. Being an overpronator, I hoped the extra foam of the SG would help my inward ankle rotation and give me some added comfort on ultra-distance efforts. Unfortunately I found that the foam on the Speedgoat (same issue I had with the Challenger all terrain a few years ago) seems to compress rather quickly. I currently have about 80 miles over less than one month on my Speedgoats (55k, 50k, and a few shorter trail runs) and they are already significantly compressed on the inner heel of the shoes. While I do like the shoe's fit, traction, and cushion (when new), I am somewhat underwhelmed by the foam density and longevity of these shoes.
Tried uploading a photo of the foam compression but the site wouldn't take it for some reason.

I don't like it. way too many welded overlays on the upper. it feels like my foot is wrapped in hard plastic. I just want the evo version back. If I had to, I would run in this shoe, because it does offer good grip and decent comfort under foot. I just really do not like the upper.
