I've run in many, many different brands of shoes, and found the SpeedGoat to almost be the perfect Trail running shoes, but with the exception that they were way too narrow. With the addition of the SpeedGoat wide, after many years of trail running, I've found the my perfect shoe. Now just provide the wide in the other colors, and you'll take perfection another step forward.

These Hokas are no Joka! ? So, I originally bought these shoes for the trails - but I have been wearing them all day at work. And night at home. They are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned. Ever I tell you! They give me more support than a Dad gives a college-bound millennial. (Ba dum bum.) Ok. You get the idea. They’re great! But I need to go. It’s time to do the Polka in my Hokas. ?

HOKA has really done it this time. Amazing shoe! I just finished a 25K trail race in cold wet mud and rocks and I raced one of my best performances in several years. I owe it to the great handling of this shoe on the technical terrain. I'm a 37 year old male. 5th place overall. 2:13 time. Couldn't be happier with this shoe. I'm going to buy another pair just because I fear the 5th edition of this shoe will not be as good. Please HOKA let the upgrading of this shoe stop here. Since it ain't broke, don't fix it.

love the outsole redesign, much better fit, and more stable. puzzled as to why half the toe box mesh is still covered up with a non breathable material serving no purpose but to fall off. colorways still need work, none of them are sleek like the black gtx or EVO models, a lot of men prefer sleek colorways imo. love the new tongue actually, and upper overall, minus the toe box being covered needlessly

Have been thrilled with Hoka road shoes for several years and just started doing more trail running. The Speedgoat 4 has been awesome - great cushioning and rolls easily over rocks, roots, etc. For me it fit true to size.

I'm an older guy and I was looking for a good shoe to do some slow jogging and walking on dirt, and these shoes are perfect. They have a very thick and comfortable base under the foot, but the tread is more stiff and stable like a work boot or hiker. the overall styling is a bit dorky, but who cares... not me. Overall, I really like these shoes and wear them every day. I was able to wear them on a long walk the first time, and I had no comfort issues.

I'm 6'2", 210#, Age 61, primarily a cyclist vs. runner these days. So to be honest I use these as light hikers vs. trail runners and have used them extensively for that. Day hikes up to 25km typically with a 20-30# day pack, year round here in the PNW. They even work well with microspikes. I have "frankenfeet" with narrow heel, wide forefoot, high instep, and pretty ugly big toes. These Speedgoat 4's are ready for a 20km hike for me right out of the box. Super comfortable, I've not had problems with hot spots, blisters, tight spots, that I've had with other shoes, the 12-2E is spot on. I normally wear an 11.5 but I go with the 12 so I can use a bit heavier "mid-weight" hiking sock vs. a running sock. I've got about 350km on this pair and the tread has held up fairly well, I've done a lot of rocky routes in them as well as some pavement walking so I'd say tread wear is about right for a sole that is also grippy. The traction of these in mud, slop, snow, wet rock, wet roots is excellent and gives me a lot of confidence, I'll happily trade a bit of tread wear for great grip any day. The uppers have held up well to a lot of abuse and with the exception of the little flap below the lacing and the toe that seems to come loose (as others have noted), I've found these to be pretty bomb proof for the way I use them. The inside of the heel cup has also held up well, this is usually an area that goes first with the way my heels are shaped. I highly recommend these and just ordered another pair. I wish I could get the Challenger-Mid, which I also have, with this sole.

I've avoided most of the hokas because of the narrow fit. All the previous shoes I've tried either given me blisters on my big toes or had to go up two sizes and they were super sloppy. But you have answered the call. the wide size is an awesome fit. I took them on a long run right out of the box and had zero issues. I may have found my new favorite pair of shoes. I just wish you had at least one or two other color offerings.

I bought these shoes for my husband who is a delivery driver. These were recommended by a couple of his co-workers. The shoe quality is great, the problem is that my husband needs a double wide and the shoe only comes in wide. He was very disappointed. Why I gave a 1 star rating was due to the lack of customer service. I recieved a return form to put in the box but no return label and have requested it twice by email (October 6th & 10th) and recieved no response. Today I will try chat and see if I get anywhere.

Very comfortable shoe. I do 45-50 miles a week on relative flat, groomed trails. However, I've run with these many times on technical trails is the Rockies and Alps, and they eat up the trails. I'm currently on my sixth pair. This is a great trail running shoe.

It's really shame that I had to return these shoes. When I received them I wore them around the house for a bit. So comfortable, like all Hokas. The problem is that Hoka put some sort of plastic on the exterior, just above the toe area, and this piece folds oddly with each step--kind of like a "crinkle." The sound is annoying, and I can feel it on top of my toes. Others in the reviews here and elsewhere have commented on this. I don't know why Hoka chose to do this, rather than having comfortable material in it's place.

So, any review I write on a shoe needs to be prefaced with the fact that I wear doctor made orthotics. This adds some bulk to my foot size. I'm writing this review for anyone else who has the same messed up feet as me and has to wear stupid orthotics. I really wanted these shoes to fit but they were too tight on the top of the shoe. That more than likely means these just can't handle orthotics like the Bondi 6 can.

Talked to a lot of folks who have been disappointed with the 5s so stocking up on the 4s. I hope the next edition after the 5s addresses a lot of the issues folks have been having.

I was cautious with these because I didn't care for the fit of the Bondi 7, so I did more research. These far exceeded my expectations. Out of the box comfort with a perfect fit. Good job Hoka for making a great product. And an even more amazing job to the Zappos staff for the best customer service! They promised to get these to me before I left for vacation which happened to be before the expected shipping date, and they were able to deliver on that promise. Thank you Zappos, now I won't get eaten by a grizzly out in Idaho

I have two other pair of Hoka shoes, one for hiking and one for road running in a width of D which fit perfectly. These fit ok but feel more narrow than the other pair of Hoka's I have. Not a big deal but just a little narrower.

I purchased this shoe to do some trail running, particularly for a trail relay coming up in a few months. I also will be replacing a lighter hiking boot that I've worn in the past on treks, both hiking and backpacking. I've put about 30 miles of running and 30 miles of hiking and walking in so far. I think the Speedgoat will become my new go-to shoe for these purposes. It is very comfortable for walking or running. It has helped with some sore shin issues I had in the past with Adidas running shoes. It functions very well on sidewalk, decomposed granite in a park, or dirt trails. I regret not trying Hoka shoes sooner. The size 11 fits me just right, just like the truefit said it would. The sole is pretty elevated, but does not make me feel unstable. The design is a bit quirky but honestly is not ridiculous. I'm a function over form kind of guy, anyway.

I bought my first set of Hokas about 5 years ago, I use them for running and walking, I have tried all the name brands none hold up on their stability like a pair of HOKA's. I will continue to stay with a HOKA SHOE ,AS LONG AS THEY CONTINUE THEIR ELITE QUALITY!!!!

The decorative piece of plastic on top of the toe makes the toes section fold weird, not comfortable. Everything else was spectacular, going to get a style without the plastic piece on the toe.

Running on dirt, rock, up and down steep hills in desert and rough southern California terrain this shoe offers great comfort, cushioning and protection, while giving support and spring mile after mile. Also very durable.

I had to return because the toe box was so tight I had to take them off after walking around the house. I ordered this because they are out of the color at REI. seems like every pair of shoe is unique because the ones I tried at REI were perfect. hope this helps! love this show. I’ll get my pair one of this days.

This is a 200 Mile review update 100 mile review below. 100 Miles:I ordered in Wide after trying on regular width in store and feel I needed more room in the forefoot. The wide version is accommodating in the forefoot as hoped. Unfortunately that gain in width runs all the way through to the heel. If you are like myself and have a wide forefoot but a standard width heel you will probably experience heel slippage like myself. I will say even with the heel slippage I have not experienced any blistering in the heel, even after a couple of 20 mile runs. I have about 100 miles on them so far and heel material is holding up at this point but I suspect with the slippage it will wear earlier than it should. I will update if I can after 200 miles. 200 Miles: Shoe has held up well, only defect being the the material under the lacing chain has come unglued where it it extends on the toe of shoe (the pointed thing). It is stitched once it reaches the lacing chain so don't expect it to get any worse. Still no blisters from the heel slippage and the inner heel material still shows no wear. Outsole shows very little wear grip has been excellent in dry and wet conditions.
