I have small narrow feet for a man. At the age of 61 and being an extremely active person, I have purchased to run and adventure comfortably. My biggest gripes over the entire line is the limited life these shoes have as well as the lack of stability. I have purchased mostly all of them and presently own Bondi's for running, Arkalis for hiking, and now the Speed Goat for trail running and walking. I have looked at the Speed Goat over the past two years and saw many complaints that the shoe was narrow and had a tight toe box. Being small sized and narrow footed for my height, I finally pulled the trigger to get a pair. Guess what? They were narrow, even for me and I ran only once in them and got blisters between my toes! I run with Smart Feet full inserts for arch support which made them even more cramped. I promptly returned the Speed Goats and requested a 1/2 size up. This was the perfect size up to comfortably fit an insert as well as give the room needed for my toes. What I am impressed with at this point is the stiffness and responsiveness of the shoe. I don't feel like my foot is sliding all over the foot deck because of poor side reinforcement like the Bondi. I am willing to sacrifice a little rebound cushion feel for stability. I am going to move the Goat to my all time wear shoe/trail run shoe. I will still keep the Bondi for running on pavement since I don't have to react like in a trail setting. The point I am making here is that sometimes you have to experiment rather than accept the limitations placed before you. Find out which shoe works best for what your activity is and make the invest. This might mean owning several pair. It will be worth it to you when you reach my age or beyond if it can give you even a year or two more of doing the things you love. Michael

Excellent trail runner, walking shoe, or for working out. Love the arch support. Highly recommend them for people with low to no arch. Best sneaker I have ever owned for walking, hiking, or working out in.

Bought the Speedgoat 4 in wide. So glad this shoe is finally available in wide. I've been running in another brand known for its wide toe box. But those shoes had durability issues and the midsoles lasted about 50 miles before flattening out. Took a chance and bought the wide version of this shoe. Perfect fit in 9 1/2. Plenty of room in the toe box in both width and length. I waited until I had about 100 miles of trail running on this shoe to write an review. I love this shoe. Stable, cushioned, durable and extremely comfortable. I have never owned a trail shoe that I have liked this much. Don't change a thing.

I have fallen arches and have had problems with my feet for 15 years or more. I haven't been able to run at all. If I tried I would not be able to walk for a week because of my feet. My local shoe store had these shoes and I decided to try them on. They felt fantastic. Long story short, I was able to run again with no problems the next day. I'm so excited that I am able to do this again. These shoes gave me a new outlook on life. Thank you Hoka, you have a customer for life.

I love these Speedgoats. I have "frankenfeet" and there is nothing more wonderful than shoes that don't hurt my feet. Hoka is the best for running shoes and the Speedgoat takes all that into a trail shoe with good support, great traction, & just the right amount of cushion. The cushion is great but not so marshmallow like that you can't feel the ground. These things are simply great!

By next week I will have put a little over 200 miles on my 4s. They are as just of good a shape now as the day they were shipped. The treads are still fine despite navigating mainly stumps, a few rocks and some gravel on the trail I use every weekend and some holiday weekends. My Clifton 6s, by the way are about a month away from turning 400 miles and still in great except for a slight tear in the inner lining close to the heel. Thanks for making a great product and for the inspirational videos to continue to keep my Type 2 diabetes managed!

My first pair of HOKAs so I haven't ran in the previous Speedgoats that everyone raves about. Anyways with the Speedgoat 4s I "Broke them in" with a quick 5k on a very easy, hard pack trail. Went out the next day and ran an easy 20k on 2000+ ft elevation change trails. No foot pain, no leg or knee pain, no blisters. Incredible traction uphill and downhill. Rocker and cushioned bounce keeps me going strong for miles. My first run on them I did feel a little unstable and almost tripped a couple times but didn't experience any of that on my second run. I haven't experienced any durability issues yet but I only have about a 25 miles on them so far.

I use the Speedgoat for trail hiking. I used to play multiple sports and have worn all the other name brand sports footwear. I'm a bit older and hiking has become my go to exercise. I'm not a boot person and the Speedgoat provides the right traction and comfort for my lifestyle and hiking activities.

Lost 20 of 100 lb goal, cushioning prevents wear and tear. Would be great if all the Hoka shoes were offered in 2E, but as ling as you keep making the Speedgoat 4 I'm good. Thanks for your quality product, harder to find that these days.

I run mainly asphalt trails or concrete. Great cushioning and support. Lugs tend to wear down after 250-300 miles. Great colors available.

This is one of the most comfortable and supportive shoes I've ever worn. All of the Hoka's are a little ugly but the comfort is excellent!!!

Other than Hoka's online ordering system being super jenky when ordering 2x Wides, everything was great dealing with customer service, and the shoes are unbelievable. Wide, comfortable, stable, seem to be pretty durable for being so light weight. Best walking, trail running, jogging shoe I've ever owned.

Trail run on these 30 miles a week in Vegas red rock desert. The vibram sole adds just enough structure to blaze over sharp sandstone and boulders. Like the 4 vs 5's because they breath better. Size down a 1/2 size.

I wear these shoes hiking and walking all over the hard pavement of Manhattan. The cushioning is so great. I'm 74 and they've taken 20 years off of my tired old feet.

As an avid trail runner and hiker I had to finally try hokas line of trail shoes. Did a little bit of research and decided that I would try the speedgoat 4s.
What can I say... Awesome colorway and super comfortable. When I first tried them on I felt them tight but once I broke them in, they molded to my foot and my body adjusted accordingly. When I'm stepping off I get this bounce that allows me to expand a little less energy and run faster. My times have improved as well as my distance.
Definitely my favorite trail shoe. I've since worn out my current pair and will be ordering another one ASAP!!

I hike almost daily, usually about 4 miles in rough terrain. There shoes are great and I can wear them without the orthotics I have to use with my other shoes. Like walking on little pillows... makes my feet smile.

Works very well on trail. Not the most comfortable in the tongue/laces area but they get the job done well!

After a couple of uses in training, I used my 1st pair of Speedgoat 4s to run a trail 50 miler. They were outstanding. They have enough cushion to reduce stress from impact, but that does not take away from them allowing me to navigate technical terrain.
