My Physical Therapist recommended HOKA brand for my walking shoes. She educated me about the importance of having the best shoes. I'm very impressed with them! I've had a knee injury that has limited me from my daily walks but with these shoes I've been able to keep walking with virtually no pain. I went with my granddaughter to the zoo and I was very concerned about all the walking involved. I was super happy that With my Hoka's I was able to walk for hours virtually pain free. Thank You HOKA!

I love wearing these at work, but I've also taken them hiking in Cloudcroft, New Mexico on the Osha Trail and in Palo Duro Canyon in Texas. They did well in the muddy and rocky terrain on the trail in New Mexico and they also did well in the silt and sand stone trails in the Canyon.

Challenger ATR4 is my favorite! I wear them on road, light trails and treadmill! I like my Bondi too - but a little too much arch support for me.

I'm mostly a city runner, and I have to wear orthotics. These shoes are comfortable and durable. They also have a decent grip on wet sidewalks and when I decide to take a short cut through the mountain.

These are my second pair. When I wear these out, I will buy another. I wear them trail running anywhere from 4-10 miles at a time. I also am on my feet all day at work and find them more comfortable than any nursing shoe I've ever owned.

These are lightweight, supportive, cushiony, not frilly but very nice looking running shoes. I've searched far and wide for a shoe that would support my issue ladened narrow feet and achy knees. My search is over! I can finally run without pain and blisters. I love my Hokas!

I have to wear orthotics and they work super well with this shoe (or any other Hokas) but the Challenger is definitely my favourite! Before I found Hoka, I had started to tape my feet before every run and I was considering giving up running. But the cushioning provided by these shoes has changed things around! No more taping my feet and no more pain after long runs!

These are great for both road and trails. I feel like they hug the road when I run. They are comfortable and the right amount of cushion for a happy run.

I have foot problems. Four surgeries. I can now tolerate daily activities in these shoes. I do not use these shoes for athletics, more for comfort.

I'm a nurse working 12 hour shifts. I no longer wear any other shoes to work in. I love the fact I can work pain free, my knees, back, & legs no longer tire me out. The support of ATR 4s are amazing.

I tried ATR 5 in store and was happy that I got a wide 6.5. I was told ATR 4 was the same as 5 except for a different fabric and was discounted. So I ordered online and found out it was tighter than what I tried at the store most especially for my problematic left foot. But my right foot is perfect! I said I will tried it on to test the shoes. So I been mostly to malls to church to home in even and uneven terrain, it a been great. Sitting on a long flight have been a little uncomfortable as my feet expanded during flight but after getting off walk a few times to have better blood circulation on the feet again, it is comfy again. The arch for my left (seems to be on n off comfy). So far I have used it only for four days. Still continue wearing it to get a better feel.

I have worn The Challenger ATRs in 3 marathons (Bataan Death March Memorial marathon). They served me well!! I typically trail run in rocky/silty/sandy terrain. They provide great support and cushioning, and great traction (even on ice) when they are new. My only complaint is the tread wears out really quickly for me, in about 3 months of daily use. If Hoka could put Vibrim treads on these I don't think I would ever buy anything else.

Great shoe, just runs large. I wear 8.5 in all sneakers and running shoes, and a size 9 in hiking shoes. I bought 8.5 too big. Then got size 8. It's still too big. Returning for a size 7.5 Because once they fit, they're an awesome shoe!

I fell in love with the Clifton for road running, but wanted an option with better traction for hiking and running on rough/rocky trails. I'm typically a 9.5 in nearly all shoes (including Clifton) but the 9.5 here in the Challenger was HUGE on me. I ended up sending back and swapping for a 9 and it's still roomy, but fits. I was concerned at first as the shoe is so much stiffer than my Clifton or Cavu- but I've been wearing it now for a couple weeks and am really liking it. The sturdier toe cap keeps my toes drier on dewy mornings (I mostly hike at 6am). From the photo on the website I thought these were going to be Black with fluorescent Red accents and was really excited- but they are actually a medium grey with hot pink accents. I HATE pink, but these are a great shoe and they get so dusty anyway from 5 hikes each week that I kept them. Images on the site make most colorways on the shoes look darker (and colors less bright) than they are in real life. I've learned this now after purchasing a few pairs. *One callout- I also just ordered and rec'd the Challenger 5- and I must say those are more comfortable. I wish that Hoka offered more women's color ways that did not include Pink, Purple, or the equally dreaded Turquoise. I'm guessing I'm in the minority here as far as color preference, but would love some exciting and interesting color options that were not in traditional women's assortment color range.

These shoes are very comfortable but I don’t like they they are so thick on the soles that it made me 2+ inches taller, it just felt awkward to me. I also don’t like the foam type soles they have- as all sneakers do lately- because I feel they might easily break. If they didn’t give me such height I’d probably have kept them. If you stand on your feet all day these make you feel like you’re walking on clouds so it might be a good fit for you.

I like them, light weight ,but these was not for my feet. I have Bondi 6 and I didn't really read that the Challenger are very hard. I'm sure they would be great for someone else.

Poor SupportGreat Support
I use my athletic shoes for walking and at the gym. It's not easy to find a comfortable shoe but this one is great. I rarely give 5 stars for anything, so 4 is almost as good. The shoe is lightweight, I like the added toe protection area - my toe won't work it's way through the fabric cover as is the case with so many shoes - and it offers good support (I'm an over pronator). I'm not wild about the bright color combinations but I'm keeping these shoes due to the comfort factor. An earlier pair of Arahi 2's were smaller in the toebox and I returned them. Both shoes are/were size 9. I wear an 8.5 street shoe.
