I am disappointed because the ATR 3 was Perfect and I could run and run and never have sore knees or feet. I am missing the cushion in the ATR 3. I was hoping to buy another ATR 3 because mine are worn out. I purchased these ATR 4's and I can't run in them. There is a real difference in my running and It isn't as
good protection for my knees and feet. Bring back the ATR 3 for Stability, cushion and good fit please.

I hate it when you find a perfect shoe (ATR 3) try to reorder it and find it changed. ATR 4 is Much wider in the mid foot and the cushion seems less. My feet already hurt just walking around the house in these, and the 3's kept me comfy for many miles on the trail. Sending them back.

I was super excited to try my first pair of Hoka shoes and am totally disappointed they fell apart within a short period of time. I LOVED these shoes and took them on the trails a couple times a week 3-8 miles. However, this morning I noticed the material on the inside of my right foot was tearing away and upon further inspection could actually see my sock! I literally bought these the beginning of summer and have very few miles on them. I would love to recommend these shoes but I just can't :( I expect my shoes to last longer than 3 months!! I've never had this trouble with any of the other name brands I've worn!

I had to return all pairs I purchased because the Challenger 4 was too narrow. I tried the Challenger 5 in a local running shop, and it was even more narrow. I was so disappointed I wrote to HOKA Customer Service asking if future designs could be more like earlier versions.

I hate these. I am so discouraged that for the money all they do is hurt me. The toe box is rubbing the tops of my feet and the insoles was so abrasive it made my feet sore for days.
I tried these several times and always wound up with lower led cramps and a really sore back.
They felt soft and cushy in the store but walking in them is a bad deal and I wasted my money.

I have this shoe in the 2 past generations and loved them. I purchased this shoe and it is so cheaply made I am discusseded in the corners cut. I can actually see my socks through the sides of the shoes. I was willing to try them and hope the lack of material was an effort to make the shoe light weight, after a moderate break in period the soles are nothing like previously generations and nothing like what hokas have been known for. It's the last pair of hokas I plan on buying and my coworkers agree.

The ATR 4 is unrecognizable as the Challenger. The ATR4s are so different, Hoka should have given them a different name. The ATR3 has a nice roomy toe box and little arch support (perfect for flat feet) while the ATR4 is longer (I know this because I tried to switch out the insole to fix issues I had with the ATR 4 and the ATR3 insoles couldn't cover the length of the ATR4), narrower, and have too much of an arch. I was nothing but blisters. On-the-other-hand, if you didn't like the ATR3, maybe my cons are your pros and the the 4 could work for you :)

I have worn the Hoka Challenger for many years almost daily on my trail runs and have loved the cushioned support and comfort they provide on technical trails. I ordered the Challenger 4's and it felt like a totally different shoe. From the get-go they were stiff and the tongue dug in my foot, especially on the downhill. The sole also felt very stiff and like all the cushioning had been taken out. I tried them on 4 separate runs and have never had to try and ' break in' Hoka Challengers before but the shoe always felt so wrong and uncomfortable and my foot felt very unstable. In the end, I had to return them. Looks like I will have to try the Speedgoat or Torrent when it comes out.Very disappointing shoe.

I want to love this shoe, but I can't. The changes that have been made are really bad. They are too long and wide, the heel slips and the forefoot is too roomy and sloppy. I could never wear these on trail. In order to get a foot hugging fit I have to go way down in size, which is then too short. Anyone who runs trail will find Therese to be way too sloppy, unless they have very thick socks. Hoka had the fit down with the 3's, and hope they will bring them back after the the 4's fail. I'm sad to look for a new brand.

Had to return these as they were less "neutral" than prior models. Disappointed!
