I've been running in Hoka One One's Challenger ATR series shoes since the first model came out. They are my go-to shoe for running on trails and roads. I have completed several half marathons in them with no blisters or joint pain. They're lightweight, nicely cushioned, hold up well, and have great traction. Through the years and style modifications I have noticed progressively less and less ventilation in the uppers. My latest purchase of the ATR 4 is the worst so far. After a short 10K run in mild weather, my feet felt like they were burning up. It sounds weird, but it makes my feet sweat and then my toes rub together, which can eventually cause blisters. I'll save these shoes for winter runs and try a different style in the future.

Perfect for my bunion. They only shoe I can wear that doesn't feel like I'm hiking on a broken toe.

I don't normally wear a wide shoe, but I wish these came in a wide, because otherwise I found these very comfortable, but they were just too narrow on my feet (painfully so). The 'knuckle' for my pinky toe was sticking out and actually creating a muffin top.

I got these because they were listed as being wide in the toe area. They weren’t as wide as I expected but they do fit very well.

A great shoe I have bought for many years, but the latest version is not as comfortable and seems to run a little bigger. The back half of the shoe is higher and is uncomfortable when sitting. It is fine when walking or standing. My soles are very sensitive and I had given up walking on trails, gravel, and any surface that was not smooth. My podiatrist had no solution for me. Then my daughter boughtfirsr my first pair of Noka trail running shoes and my problem was solved! Now I can walk on any surface with no pain! Thank you!!!

I so wanted to love these shoes. I was looking for a good supportive shoe that I could wear pretty much all the time but especially while walking my dog and running errands. Sadly, while walking around my house in them my feet hurt so bad I could hardly stand it. But, thank you, Zappos for making ordering and especially returns easy for me to try something else.

I tried these to replace my Challenger ATR 3's and do not like the top of this shoe and tongue as well. They are thinner and do not provide the padding that the 3's had. I'm going to try the Stinson ATR4. I love Cliftons that I have, but want the more aggressive tread for trails. I take out the insole and add my own orthotic so I cannot speak to the arch support, but find that I love the Hoka cushy soles.

Cute shoe -- beautiful color. Unfortunately I have a wide foot and the shoe is too narrow. Wish it came in wider sizes.

The only reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is because I came from having the Clifton which I LOVED! Nothing will ever compare to the Clifton in my book but I since I don't like the way he Clifton looks (my husband didn't like them either) I decided to sacrifice a little bit of comfort for a little bit of style and go with this shoe. A great shoe (my husband loves these) and I would totally buy again. Perfect for my indoor/outdoor circuit training!

Have been searching for good shoes to wear for the 12+ hours I'm on my feet at work (I'm a nurse). These are IT. Finally!!! I did lots of research and decided to take a chance and order these online. I am usually a 9 1/2. I ordered a 9 based on others' recommendations to get a half size smaller. I could have stood to get an entire size smaller actually. But I just got some inserts and they fit fine. I am sooooo pleased!

The shoes are extremely comfortable and stylish. I love how they have just enough grip on the bottom to make them good for running trails. My life has been changed since I started running in hokas. No more knee pain. My only complaint is that they run bigger than my hoka arahis so I had to return them for a half size smaller.

These shoes are super lightweight and very cute, however, they run a little large. I ordered my normal size and they are about a half size to long. The toe area is roomy and the arch support feels good. Very breathable too!

This is my first pair of Hoka shoes. I ordered my shoes online without being able to try them on for size. I normally wear a woman's 8.5 regular width so I ordered a men's 7 but these shoes are a tad too tight in the toe area. I'm bummed because I had high expectations and had read that they had a roomy toe box and I need that for my Morton's neuroma. The footbed is very padded and I like that, just wish the toe area had more width. I'm disappointed. I would recommend these shoes for someone with no issues with the ball of the foot or narrow toes.

These are probably great on trails, but on paved cement, they grip. Running up and down hills they caused hang string/gluteal strain. Sent back but continued on with some road shoes!

I walk several miles a day and have had several pairs of Hokas. The tread starting coming loose on the left shoe within a few months. I tried glueing it back with no success.

The area where the laces are seemed to cut into my foot, even with just trying them on. I don't know if it would've loosened up or got worse so I returned these.

Very disappointed with the new lack of padding in tongue and sides. I've previously purchased several of these Challenger ATR's and the new ones are made of inferior quality: higher sides around the ankle, tongue that wrinkles and presses on top of ankle. Otherwise, toe box is good and springy cushion of Hoka shoe is good.

Lovely trainers. I usually wear a size 8 shoe. These were 8.5, but they felt like size 8. They were too narrow for long distance walking.

I have been extremely happy with all the previous ATRs. I've been jogging in the ATRs Challengers since the first version. I was hooked, but no longer. These shoes are super stiff. I sent the first pair back because the sizing runs very large. I ran in them once the sizing was correct, numerous times. They were still stiff. I kept them for walking, and they work well. But once again not for running. There are still stiff after 3 months. I had to switch up brands. Really hope HOKA is listening/reading these reviews. I wish i would have listened to the reviews that said if you like the previous versions this one is most likely not for you. I ordered them from a different website.
