Fit and size were OK. The toe box is a little wider than I'm used to, but nothing really concerning at the moment (I've had them only a few days). It's not the brand I went shopping for, but It's hard to find style and color in EE!!

This is one of the most comfortable sneaker i have owned. The only thing that i would do for myself is buy the wide width. But, other than that i love the shoe.

I love the shape and style of this shoe. It has a deep, wide, rounded toe box that allows my boxy, 4E feet to splay, but I need a little more cushion and will return these for yet another pair of the 1080 or 990. I have the latest 1080 (v10) in size 14 4E, and when I take out the insole and overlay it on the insole of the 840v4 in size 14 4E, the 840 looks like its a whole size longer and wider. It a relatively huge shoe!

I have Orthotics’s because I once suffered plantar fasciitis, I’m older too and walk a great deal on pavement. These seem to keep me very comfortable with my inserts, even during extensive walking.

Zappos recommended size 12. Too big! New Balance shoes is true to Brannock shoe device, at least this model is. Otherwise a great running shoe.

But pretty narrow..have one pair of the extra wide and there is just too much space...ordered another color in wide version and it seems a bit tight at first.
I am going they break in nice because the overall comfort level is second to none. Thanks NB

I am walking 5 miles a day outside and the shoes hold up to the outdoor wear and tear well!

Out of all of my new balance shoes, these are the only ones that run too big.

Although the 2E "wide" shoe is technically fine for me, my bunion means I need to really loosen the laces on that shoe to be comfortable.

I use these shoes for walking & casual wear. I'm glad NB has extra wide sizes. As my feet have gotten wider as I've aged. With the extra wide, my feet don't "go to sleep" any more. I wish these shoes had the pull tab at the back of the heal. It makes it a little easier for me to pull them on with a tab. These shoes are very comfortable and have helped relieve some of my heal pain. Very good shoe New Balance! 4.5 stars!

These would have worked well but there's just too much cushion that actually flared plantar'a fasciitis. Very comfortable, almost too comfortable. Just didn't seem to work with my feet so I returned.

Had send them back to NB. Nice shoe but just a bit long for me.

I have been wearing New Balance for the past 8 years. When my favorite version was ditched, I have been trying to find another shoe as comfortable. In the 840v4, I have finally found it.

Everyday shoe, either for working out or running, only thing I do not like is the tongue is always sliding down to the outside of the shoe.

If you struggle with knee pain, these are an excellent choice to go for. It's abzorb tech, every step shock is absorbed when jogging. The black and red model is nice looking, good materials. The only things I don't give the 5 stars for are that tennis shoes are somewhat heavy for jogging, and the abzorb midsole is not as cushony as the Cypher Run V2's midsole, the latter's midsole is way thicker, so you feel the shock absorption better. For abzorb tech, this is one of the best (if not the best) option in the market from New Balance. I would buy this tennis shoe again if an equivalence of the Cypher Run V2 does not come out to the market.

I have worn many generations of NB shoes. I wear a 13/2E. I primarily use these for walking. I have a high instep - not too high but enough that lacing the show can be tricky. Too lose and I get heel slippage; too tight and the tongue slides over to one side. I noticed the heel slippage was a bit worse with these shoes and I had to use the lace lock lacing method. That fixed the heel but caused the tongue to slide over. A little more break-in time may help the tongue settle. I will also swap the laces for Xpand elastic laces - another product that I have used for years - and they help with the instep as well as make it quick to put on and take off the shoes.

Not as stable as the 840V3. Toes wore through doing floor exercises ( i.e.planks) when toes were off the mat. In this case on concrete. They appear to be fine with walking several miles a day.
