Was told the warmth factor is the same as the 600. Still waiting to see if that is the case.

I was buying this parka in black for my mom as a gift, she liked the style and color. It was not available in the nearby TNF store, so we ordered it online. However, when she bought it home and tried it on, we noticed it attracts dust and hair like crazy. Even more, there are small down feather bleeding out all the time, from multiple places. She was disappointed at the outter material used and the craftsmanship of the parka. We had to returned it from the store.

I bought this coat from Northface, needed warm but also a slim fit style and was disappointed. This coat is not flattering at all. Looks like I am wrapped in a boxy sleeping bag. NorthFace should make slim fit coats for women. If you are looking for warmth, this is great, but if you want to feel warm and look cute on a weekend outing, this is not for you.

I've had a white one for several years & love the coat. I was looking for a brown one this year, everyone has black, & you aren't making the nice brown you had in past. So disappointed in color choices -yuck!

I am a college student, so I get a lot of wear out of my coat walking around campus on daily basis. I had this coat for less than 2 years and it ripped. The exterior material does not feel like a heavy duty material. Another con of this coat is that it is not a fitted coat so I always felt a breeze going up the coat. Also, it is not waterproof so when walking across campus in the snow the coat became soaked. I would not recommend this coat to someone that gets A LOT of wear out of a coat and has very long walks out in the freezing temperatures.

I loved the style and grey color of this coat. I ordered a size S online. I am 5'3" and weigh 124 pounds. The length of the coat and the sleeves was perfect, however, it felt a ltitle tight around the hip area. I doubt a heavy sweater would have fit under it. If you are wearing a thin shirt or sweater you will be fine. The hood seemed skimpy and did not cover as much of my head as a previous Northface coat.

I ordered this coat a few weeks ago and was very excited about my purchase. I did a lot of research and was getting desperate because everything was selling out and the winter in Chicago was going to be another long COLD one. I received my coat and it fits and feels great. I am almost 5'2 and ordered a small the coat hits the middle of my knee which was exactly what I was looking for. I was able to move very comfortably which was also important the only drawback for me is that I did not find the coat to be as warm as I would like. If you layer I'm sure its fine but if you just want to throw on your coat and go and expect to be warm this is not the coat for you. Just yesterday the temperature was 20 and I had a sweater, skirt, tights, books, hat and scarf and I was cold walking in my coat. Not freezing but I could have and should have been warmer in my opinion. I think if you want the coat to run errands in and out of stores and cars then you are probably ok but if you want it to walk and to keep you warm in harsh Chicago temperatures then go for something a little heavier. If I was purchasing this coat for that I would have given 5 starts but because I bought the coat for the name to keep me warm in harsh temperaturesI am only giving it 3 starts. Sadly I am returning this coat and purchased the Miss Metro Parka. I hope to have better luck with the Metro.

I wanted this jacket for awhile before purchasing it. It is pricey and I wanted it to be a jacket that would last. I am 5'5 and about 155 pounds and ordered a Large which is normally the size that gives me a bit of extra room. This coat fits a little bit snug but I can still wear it with 1 layer underneath. The arms are also short, like without gloves, this coat would be unwearable. I also wish this coat came with a fleece liner because the nylon does get COLD and the feathers that poke through CONSTANTLY start to itch my skin. Other than that, I love the length and the color of the fabric (Graphite Grey) and the adjustable hood. I wore this is -10 weather today and was cold but not miserable. It is a fine jacket for normal winter days (10-45F) but not the warmest jacket you will ever wear in your life. The lightweight feel and length make up for it. I may return it soon but I'm not sure yet...

I am a fan of the Metropolis Parka and have one I really like that I purchased 2 years ago. That coat is stil awesome, washes up great and still looks new. So this year I decided to purchase another in a different color. I found the 2014 version not as nice as my older coat. The new coat is 550 down compared to 600 on my older version. It also lacks the inside zippered phone pocket and has a faux suede type material around the collar that just picks up fuzz and lint and makes the coat look dirty. Also my new coat had a tiny puncture in the back where feathers would keep poking through. I returned this coat for the Miss Metro and although the price is higher, I'm very happy with it - has the inside phone pocket and also lining that keeps the wind out better and no fake suede lint magnet.

Coat is cute the zipper gets stuck so I am bringing it back. It's a nice coat but I thought it would be warmer for $300 it's been about 30 degrees so far and I've felt the wind through the jacket .

This jacket was marketed as a coat that would be warm to with stand the wind and cold. However, upon purchase it was light weight and not water proof. Neither of which would get me through a cold Chicago winter. This would be a good coat for early to late fall and spring. Not winter material. Very light weight material.

I have been waiting to purchase this coat for years (saw older model on many different people and LOVED it) and finally decided to bite the bullet. However, I feel that it did fall a little short of what I expected. I never had the older version, but from what people have said, it sounds like I would have preferred it. This year's model was too long (to knees, which is longer than I hoped) and the fit was too snug in chest/torso area. In addition, after a week, I noticed that some of the stitching was coming loose. I could have sized up and exchanged it for another coat, but chose to just return and try a different coat altogether. I do like the weight of the coat (not too puffy), and love the graphite gray color--just thought this was going to be the perfect coat and it wasn't. Bummer. If they made this coat in a 32" length, I probably would've tried another one to see if I just got a "bad" one. Trying the Transit jacket instead now and hoping for the best!

I'm 5'2" and 215lbs. I love how the size small fits me (form fitting) and I love the color. Beyond that...the jacket is thin (only a 550 fill) and not nearly as warm as my other thick North Face jackets. And I don't like how the feathers show through this red jacket (material is too thin). If could choose??_. Ideally??_.I would like this jacket to be a 600 or 700 fill, same color red, same fit, NO cover over the zipper (not very modern looking with covered zipper, kind of "MOMish" - and I'm a MOM of 3 & 44 yrs old!!), and I'd like the NF logo to be in another color to stand out more (don't like the red on red AND they made the logo smaller)??_.Hope this helps! ;-)

Need to take it to get altered. Look like a bell. It's a terrible design. Needs to be straighter. Stick with metropolis parka. I wish I didn't take the tags off

This is not what I expected at all. The warmth isn't incredible and even after a few short weeks, there are dozens of places that feathers are noticeably coming out of the stitching. Not too cool, esp with a black coat. No North Face visible imagine either. Would NOT recommend for the price.

This coat is great but the zipper is awful and for the price of the coat the zipper should work more consistently. On several occasions I have had to wrestle myself out of the coat because the zipper has been stuck right in the middle. This issue should be corrected and then it would be the perfect coat.

It seemed to be a nice coat, but fits way smaller than size normally would. Would recommend if ordering, order larger size.

If it weren't for the tiny feathers coming out all over (which, when you try to remove, sometimes pull white stuffing out with them), this would be the perfect coat. I had one for twenty years that never "feathered" so I can only assume the coats are being made elsewhere and cost concerns are overriding quality control.

The coat is good-looking and I loved the color. I put it on, walked the dog for 15 minutes in 27 degree weather and came home freezing. There are no cuffs to keep the wind out, air leaks in around the back of the hood and it's just not warm enough for New England. Pockets are small, too. Over all I was disappointed and will be returning the coat.

Not what I expected. The quality of the coat was thin and flat as I stare st this coat in the mirror. It looked like an lifeless coat that needed life support.

Feathers are coming out of the jacket. Jacket feels great and looks great other than the feathers you can feel and see coming out of the material of the jacket.

Was so excited when this jacket finally went on sale at the end of the winter season, however I ended up taking it back to store for a refund. The feathers would not stop falling out of this jacket. I gave it the benefit of the doubt (since it is a down-filled jacket) in hopes after a bit they would stop falling out but it never stopped. The feathers fell out of the lining on the inside and outside of the jacket. Every time I wore dark colors, as soon as I took the jacket off, I was covered. When I would get in my car, the feathers would be left on my seat. The jacket was black in color and when I would wear it, white feathers would stick out of the stitching. For an expensive jacket, it looks made cheap. VERY DISAPPOINTED since I have owned a ton of North Face jackets in the past. Any suggestions for a North Face downfilled, long black jacket where the feathers are stitched in much better??
