Had high hopes for this jacket but the fit was just off. Too wide in some areas which was unflattering and the sleeves were far too long. Would have considered keeping it even though the fit left something to be desired but it wasn't as warm as I needed. I'm sure there is another product that will be a better fit; this one has been sent back.

I'm usually a medium (5'8, 140 lbs), but had tried some coats on of other brands and found them to be too contsricting around the chest and back, so I ordered a large. It was like a sleeping bag on me so I returned it. When I actually got a medium, it fit like a glove - stylish with lots of room to move. My past parka seems to be the old model of this coat, and I loved it for years! It was perfect and I hoped to replace it, but this year's model has changed and so I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it, even though it fits better than any other coat I tried (and I tried many!!). First of all, there used to be 600 fill down, and now it's 550. It feels much more lightweight and I feel doubtful that it will be as warm (though I haven't tried it outside yet, since I'm on the fence about keeping it). Also, they made it longer this year. It used to be the perfect length (36 inches - right above the knee), so I could keep cozy warm, but still manage to bike, ice skate and cross country ski in it. Now it's several inches longer and just seems too long to do those things - plus it looks more sophisticated and less sporty. I wish they would use the extra material to fill the coat more and take it back to it's old length, and maybe add hood with a cute fur edge- then it would be the perfect coat!

I ordered this one to replace my older version. Well NOT so good! quality not the same as my older version. Fans out a little at bottom. Large is really large.

I have worn the coat only a few times since purchasing a few weeks ago and already notice it sheds feathers at the seems and through the fabric. I am not impressed with the quality considering the price and reputation of The North Face.

I purchased this coat to replace my older NorthFace Metropolis coat. This design is not as nice as my other jacket. I think choosing to taper the waist has caused too tight a fight in the chest. I am 128lbs and 5.7 and the Medium is a little snug in the chest. The previous design had a zipper protecting flap with snaps which I prefer to this design. Without the zipper flap the exposed zipper looks puckery. I think the price is the same but the quality took some shortcuts. Next year you need to step back up with the quality. If my gift Card was not to EMS I would have purchased a different coat.

I really like this coat, it's very durable and washes well! If you're a person who feels the cold like I do, it may not be warm enough for you though. I typically reach for this jacket once it hits 10C and anything below 0C it's just not warm enough. The wind goes right through it. It's a great late fall coat, but for winter I would not recommend it.

It's a great coat when the temperature isn't below 30 degrees. On cold or severely windy days, you would have to wear multiple layers under the coat to remain warm

Exchange for different fabric and style.

So I love this jacket, but I had to have it replaced within three weeks of owning it because of a broken zipper. Sadly, this exchange happened during arctic temperatures in DC and living without a jacket wasn't a good situation. Also, the employee at North Face order the replacement jacket in the wrong color and then I had to charge a second jacket onto my credit card just so that I wouldn't have to wait another two weeks to return the wrong jacket in exchange for the new jacket. North Face was then going to credit me for the second jacket with a gift card even though I had charged it to my credit card. After a stressful conversation, they issued and then revoked a gift card and said the credit should be showing up on my account this week. Throughout this whole debacle I went onto purchase a great coat for my husband, a denali fleece, rain jacket, and hoodie for myself all from North Face which is totally why I should be the $500 winner-because I believed in your company and products in the middle of a rather bad experience :)

I love my old version of this coat and was looking to replace it. I was disappointed to find that this new version is not as warm and feels thinner. It also had feathers coming out of it right away. I returned this coat and will continue to wear my old one instead.

This coat has a strip of twill along the zipper that is a poor choice of material. It pills and looks very very tacky. If you zip the coat and then close all the snaps, it can't be seen. But rarely is this the case in wearing it. Consider another material in the 2017 update. Love the double zipper!!

I have an older version of this coat which I love and wear all the time. I purchased it again in a different color. It does not fit the same at all. It is much tighter especially in the chest. I plan to try to exchange it for a larger size but am concerned that the arms and the rest of the coat might be too big. Really liked the old version! This coat is much more restrictive.

Hike a long distance from parking lot into hospital to work. Especially love that the coat is so light weight & comes down to keep my legs warm. Just hate these tiny feathers everywhere. Have to wear black everyday, so I am having to roll my clothes with a sticky lint roller. I want to keep my coat, but not sure what to do. What if this gets worse with time, or when I have to wash the coat???

I didn't wear it outside so I can't comment on the warmth or breathability, though I did really like the length of both the sleeves and coat itself, and the fit was great. I'll be returning it because walking around the house in it drove me nuts -- it's noisy, which is a weird complaint for a coat. It reminds me of middle/high school when people wore "swishy pants" and you could hear them coming a mile away. Not great. I'll be exchanging for a different one.

I am in love with this coat and so excited to have it but my first day wearing it all day I realized the sleeves are really short & it fits really snug in armpits. I am 5'3" 129 lbs and don't have usually long arms. (Bought a small because I was swimming in a medium). Don't know if this is how it's supposed to be or if I got a defective coat or what but pretty disappointed. And store where I bought it was final sale no returns. Bummed.

I use this for running errands, not enough fill for any true warmth, leaks feathers like crazy.

This jacket was bought with a Russian winter trip in mind. I am disappointed to say that in the cold, windy, 15f weather in Moscow, I WAS FREEZING. I was wearing at least 3-4 layers underneath and was still very very cold. I now consider this my Russian fall coat. Just today I pulled it out for the mild winter that Georgia can bring and it only kept me warm a few minutes into my walk! I think it is perfect for 40 Slightly windy weather but any colder or windier and you will be cold. Not worth the money- I probably could have gotten a warmer coat for a third of the price. Otherwise it is cute, and somewhat warm- if not windy and not below ~35-40

This is very nice looking parka, very stylish. However, I feel like it's very cheaply made. I wore it only handful of times and the thread on the inside already started to fall apart. Also, the zipper is plastic, I would like to see a more sturdy zipper, as the coat is long and lean, therefore when getting in an SUV, I have to be careful to not break the zipper. The zipper is also hard to open at times.

this coat works fine if you are getting in and out of the car, going into stores and its really cold outside. it needs inside pockets to contain the items you don't want to carry in a handbag.

I like it for every day wear! I love the brand and thought it would be warmer than my other styles(same brand). I did not like he fact that is very static and have to use a roller to remove hair and lint :(

I returned coat and purchased a large which I'm much happier with

I gave in and bought 2 of the redesigned 550 fill coats to replace my old favorite 600 fill ones. Had to go one size up (XXL instead of XL) and still the new coat does not feel as roomy as the old one. That said, I wasn't able to find anything else on the market as close to my old favorite, so I would still recommend this coat to others. My main gripe is with the shoulder and sleeve area - I prefer the loose fit of the old coat that not only gives freedom of movement but also allows layering for colder days. Not sure why North Face designers decided to redesign the old favorite instead if just creating a new coat for those that prefer fitted styles. Especially since the old coat was the only one that was generous enough to bigger women like myself. Please bring the old parka back!
