I got this for Christmas and was happy with it. It's not as thick as my Gotham parka so I'll use it on the warmer days but the length is perfect for me since I'm 5'4". The purple isn't too shimmery and I liked the hood.

Nice coat ~ this is much more form fitting than the other styles. I'm 5'5" and 125lbs. and needed the medium for my hip area. A small could have worked, but it would have been too snug with a sweater, etc. under.

Great product and was a gift for my wife had an associate at the store help with the size and it was still too small. Returning for a larger size.

I ordered up a size and fit well if I want to put sweaters underneath. Great 2 way zipper so I can ride a bike, but this is more my going out coat. Could be a bit warmer if you aren't wearing much underneath, but with layers it's toasty especially because it comes to my knees.

I have been wanting this coat for so long and finally got it for Christmas! I am hoping to swap it out for a Large because I won't be able to have a sweater on under it in a size medium. It's super light weight and also super comfortable. But I'm going to be wanting to throw it on when I take the dog out for walking and want it to fit over whatever I have on, hence the larger size.

Took me a while to receive mine, but once I finally did after over two weeks, it was sadly too long. I was super bummed but should have expected it because im 5'1. I got a size small, and I was almost tripping on it. sadly I had to send it back for a return. If you are a bit taller, this would be perfect for you! its so much cuter in person! im now on the search for a shorter, better fitting parka by north face :)

This is a beautiful coat but the sizing was off for my body. I am 5’2” and 112 lbs. I have four Metropolitan 1 coats, all in xs and thinner but fit perfectly. The xs in this Metropolitan 2 version is very tight everywhere and though the s fit well the sleeves were past my fingertips. The material is high quality with a bit of a sheen. It’s lightweight but thick. Zappos shipping and return policy is great!

I've only had the coat for a few days, so I can't speak to the feather issues some customers seem to have, but so far: I like it!! It's super warm and cozy, without being ultra heavy or bulky (I haul 4 kiddos around all day, so I need to be able to move freely! And carry heavy loads. ;) ). I like that the hood is attached, and that the outside pockets can be zipped closed. Also love that you can unzip from the bottom, for easy in/out of the car, etc. The only thing I've wished for thus far is a pocket or 2 inside the coat. Not a deal breaker, for me, but would be a nice feature! If I was being really picky, I'd also add a fabric/fitted cuff inside the nylon at the end of the sleeve. The cuffs are a bit "loose," so I'm thinking in colder weather, rain, snow, etc, there will be some air and moisture entering there. Overall I'm really pleased, and I think this will be a great, everyday coat!

This coat didn't look warm enough for cold and windy winter. The material is very thin and light. Also I didn't like the light pink color in the lining, so I returned it.

Lovely, warm coat. I bought this and the Miss Metro and decided to keep the Miss Metro. The reasons I did not keep this one are: it is warm, but not as warm as the Miss Metro; material is slippery and I thought the strap of my shoulder bag would be more likely to slip off my shoulder. The Miss Metro seems warmer and the fabric is matte, so there is a bit of drag I'm hoping will keep the shoulder strap from slipping. The Miss Metro also has a fabric flap with snaps to cover the front zipper. This detail isn't meaningful to me and I will not likely ever use the snaps, though I suppose this would allow me to partly close the coat without using the zipper. Also, on this coat (the Metropolis), the zip extends to the bottom edge of the coat, while the Miss Metro, the zipper ends a few inches from the bottom edge (though the snap cover continues until the bottom edge). Both coats have double-zipper pulls (so you can unzip a bit from the bottom if you find it too constricting, which can happen when you sit down). If I had not bought both coats to compare and preferred the Miss Metro, I think I would be happy with the Metropolis. I might add, I liked the galaxy purple of the Metropolis, but it was not enough reason for me to keep it. As far as which coat was more flattering, I can't say there is much of a difference to me - the shape seems similar, I prefer the matte of the Miss Metro to the shiny of the Metropolis.

I've had this coat for 2 years and previously owned a similar one in purple. Overall this coat keeps me warm. i live in the Northeast. My one HUGE complaint is the ridiculous hood which easily detaches because of the type of snap they used. Such an annoyance that I can't really even use the hood as the minute i pull it up, the snaps start popping off. I'm going to send it back to NorthFace to see if they can fix this at my own expense of having to pay to ship it to them. I'm going to order a different coat like a Marmot and maybe sell this one on Ebay when it comes back.

It is my every day winter jacket. It's super comfy. The downside though is that feathers come out of the seams. I've had this jacket for 2 years now. Washed it once and the metal north face logo was black and now it is turning silver. I didnt expect that after just one wash.

Runs a little large. I am usually a small to medium in some brands. the small on this jacket was too big with 2 layers on. I wish I could return this for a XS but they don't have any in stock. :(
Great look otherwise. Just order a size small/

I'm 5'9" - a large is a good length and the fit is comfortable. The cut of this parka is flattering - is tapers in gently and looks pretty much as it does in the photo.
The navy coat has a very busy interior pattern - off-white and pale pink swirls. There are probably some people who would love this, but I was looking for something quieter.
I kept the gray version of this jacket, which is a beautiful color and just a different gray on the inside.

Everything about this purple coat is good but the strange light pink color of the inner collar and hood stands out. You need a large scarf to cover the front. Disappointed that they did not use the same color or close.

Love this coat and love that the sleeves are long enough for my long arms! Very comfortable and keeps me warm. My only complaint is I've noticed a few feathers coming out- I don't know of this is just something that happens with all down jackets?

Good jacket for the winter. It is expensive so the quality seems good but I don't know how long it will actually last.

Gorgeous coat! I love the cut and fit, although the arms are too long for me. I just had to roll the cuffs one time. Haven't tested it in Michigan winter weather yet, but it's pretty light weight so I'm hoping it will be warm enough. There's room for a fleece underneath it though, so that should do the trick in the coldest of weather.

So it was lovely and no real complaints. For my needs, I wanted something lighter AND warmer...which I did end up finding bur from another company.

i love the coat, minus it fits me strangely. the sleeves are great but otherwise looks big. not returning/exchanging because final sale/im too lazy to try. im sure it being a little on the larger size wont be too bothersome come wintertime. (got it on sale in the summer hehe)

Fit and sizing and material is nice. The only thing I wish is that the sleeves around the wrist had a band so cold (and snow if you are skiing) didn't go up your sleeve. length is great - a little longer than I imagined, so good if you wear dresses a lot in the winter. I live in Chicago and will be wearing this walking around downtown to and from the train to work. Pockets are nice - very big and deep. Hood is nice but it doesn't have a drawstring or anything to help hold it on. I guess I will just wear a hat underneath.

This is a beautiful coat. I bought the flat black which I figured would go with anything. At 5'6", 125lb a Medium hit me right at the knee and was a little oversized but I wanted to be able to layer with sweaters, etc. So, sizing was not an issue although a Small might have been more flattering fit-wise.
Problem was that I simply never reached for it -- not once. There didn't seem to be any good reason WHY I never reached for it. I thought it would quickly become a favorite item. Maybe I am just not a long coat person.
