I love this jacket! It is sooo warm and comfortable, it's light weight. I wear it in windy NYC with only a thin cardigan over my blouse and no problems. We've already had weather in the 20s with windchill factors in the teens. This jacket handled it. Absolutely love it, just wish I would have gotten it sooner. The pockets are great, warm up your hands quickly. I don't think I'll ever go back to a 3 in 1, down is the way to go.

Thumbs up! I'm a college student who bought the coat to stay warm in Ohio while walking to and from classes. Love this! Comfy, warm, easy to move in; not constricting like some really bulky jackets. All my friends love it, too!

Great coat, my second one. Keeps me warm. I am a petite (5') bought a small, the sleeves are a tad long but I tuck it in and it's comes to my knees but I do love the coat

I loved my metropolis from 7 years ago... This is just as warm and cozy. The bottom of
The coat, near the zipper is tight.. Could be more of an a-line shape to accommodate clothing and shapes... Love the warmth and the classic color navy!!

I've finally found the perfect coat to combat cold Minnesota winters! I've always stuck to peacoat-type coats during winter because I couldn't find a puffer that wasn't too bulky or just plain ugly. This one is super warm, the hood is adjustable so it actually stays on (and doesn't ruin my hair at the same time), the length is great (I'm 5'8-1/2" and it hits my right above the knee) and the pockets are fleece lined and really warm, too. The fit is pretty true to size - I bought the Small, but the XS worked, too. The Small allowed a bit more flexibility and room in the arms and chest. I couldn't recommend this coat enough - buy it!

I loved the original one I had, but sent it back because the zipper broke, and it had very little down in it. North Face gave me a gift card so I could buy something else since it could not be fixed. I ordered the same one on line, while at the store. The new one came w/almost no down in it. They said I could send it back. Since I didn't want to go through that again, I found another slightly more expensive parka in the store, which was perfect! So I paid the difference and tax, and I am happy w/ my purchase. Staff was very kind and helpful @ NorthFace in Old Orchard, Skokie, IL

This coat was a birthday gift to my granddaughter, and she loved it. The coat was a medium and a perfect fit; she is 5'7", very petite.

The fit was what I expected for the size I ordered. The coat was a bit longer than what I was looking for, so I returned it and ordered the Gotham II Parka. Otherwise, it was substantially thick without being overly puffy. It seemed like it would keep me warm in very cold weather conditions. The heather grey was beautiful.

The quality of down is lower compared to my old North face down coat.

I bought for my daughter who lives in Boston. It was bery warm but too long/bulky for her petite frame.

I had to get the gray color because black was not available. I was very pleasantly surprised at how much I really liked the color. It was more of a gray tweed with a very nice rich feel to the fabric. I ordered an XL (I'm 5'5", 155lbs) because the large on another NF primaloft coat I have is more snug than I like; however, this jacket, in my opinion, runs big. It swam on me, so I sadly had to return it.

This coat is pretty stylish. I went up a size and I'm glad I did because I am able to fit a sweater underneath.

This coat (in the gray color) has kept its shape and been very serviceable in all significant ways. After three months of continuous wear... I noticed some darkening of the fabric in usual places such as cuffs and neck area. I washed the coat according to directions and it came out looking terrific... though somehow softer. Since washing however...it seems to pick up dirt and stain easily... I gather that some coating of the fabric has been washed out, making the coat less useful for public or city wear, though still OK for walking dog in forest, etc. Three months is not long enough to be able to rely on the useful attractiveness of this (not inexpensive) coat.... If there is a fix for this I would like to know it. Otherwise great coat....

I love this coat! I have it in an older style, which has a snap flap that I kind of miss. I wanted this one as it appeared a bit dressier. It did fit larger than my older coat, so it had to be exchanged. No big whoop...every girl like a downsize.
I do have 3 issues with this, otherwise, perfect winter parka: 1. The missing snap flap. 2. The sleeves seem short. 3. The chrome colour stains easily. The collar got really dark, and I realized it was from my moisterizer! I washed it last week, and it already looks dirty again! My advice...order the black.

Used as a winter coat; daily use. I think I liked my "600" better.

I love the materials of this coat, the inside, the outside, the pockets, they're very soft and seem durable. I also really like how the hood wraps around my head, too, and there's the option to tighten it. This is the first coat I owned where the hood stays up with ease. Lastly, I love how this coat hugs me when it's zipped up. It helps keep the air out, although sometimes it can be a little restricting. The only area of improvement I see is how it zips. I know it is because it's a parka, but I think it would be really nice if there were two zippers: one for the top part and another for the bottom part. As I said, it can be a little restricting at the bottom, especially when I'm getting on the bus or walking up large steps, so it would be nice if I could easily only zip the upper portion. That would also help with keeping it a warm temperature (sometimes it can get really hot when I'm on the bus or walking to class). Other than that, I love this coat!

OK, maybe the best time to review this jacket is *not* during a polar vortex in Minnesota, but it was not as warm as I had hoped. I needed to buy a coat to replace my North Face Arctic Parka from more than a decade ago. With the Arctic Parka, I never needed a scarf or even a sweater to feel toasty at all times. With the Metropolis Parka, I could feel air rushing through. It's much lighter, too. That said, with a scarf underneath, it was pretty warm, and it is probably warm enough for most people's needs. Plus, in the black, it's a lot sleeker than most sleeping-bag jackets. The hood fits well and doesn't slip over my eyes the way another brand did. On another note, the first Metropolis Parka I received in the mail had about a 1-inch rip in the back, causing feathers to escape. Not sure what that was about. Zappos sent a replacement right away.

I am 5'9" with long arms and wider hips and the XL fit wonderfully. I can fit a moderately thick sweater under this as well. Sometimes Northface is a bit snug around the hips and this style worked well. The black is a smoother material, and the down is very warm but the coat is extremely light and easy to pack away into a small bag or backpack. In Upper Michigan we just experienced the polar vortex with -20 degrees or more and with the hood I was just fine. I really like how it covers to the knees. I do a lot of driving and it is not bulky or too warm in the car. I do notice some of the down feathers starting to pop out. Others have commented on this. Not bad yet but I have only had the coat for about 1 month.

I tried the Miss Metro Parka II, the Metropolis Parka II, and the Gotham Parka II, and this was my second favorite. The fabric is a bit shiny, but not overly so, and the TNF logo is very subtle. It is very lightweight, but it felt warm. I did not try them outside because all the coats ran a bit small for me. I am fairly slim (5'5" and 120 lb) and I can wear a small, but I think I would prefer a medium for the times I have a heavier layer underneath. I liked the Miss Metro Parka II better because it was a little heavier and had a covered zipper with snaps. I also didn't care for the way this coat went in at the waist - maybe in a bigger size it would have been more flattering, but it made me look like I had big hips, and I don't.

I purchased for myself, I ordered the cream color. I'm 5'2, was the perfect length. I ordered a size medium, sent back because I like my coats to be more snug fitted. I live in North Dakota so a warm jacket is needed. I was going to exchange for a small but the size wasn't available. There is another coat I'm going to order from NF.

I love the cost but i'am really scared it's not going to keep me satisfied with really cold weather, I travel from New Jersey to New York and New Hampshire each state, so for it's ok for New Hampshire cold weather but when it got to the single digits with 10 to 15 mile per hour winds I can feel the cold. Might have to find another coat, this might be a great coat for the fall weather.
