These are surprisingly comfortable from the moment I put them on. I have used them every weekend since I got them, and they are still very comfortable. Was surprised that it id not take long to break them in.

I am using this shoe as my daily walking shoe, I have severe over pronation due to flat and misaligned feet; the high tops supportd my ankle and allow me to walk comfortably without my custom orthotics. The shoe is warm on the feet and I look forward to taking them to Alaska.

I'm having problems with my feet and need wide shoes. The 2x wide women's hiking boots were a great fit-I still had to replace the insole and cut the side to make room for my pinky toe but that did the job. I just finished about 30 miles of hiking in Ireland and coildn't have done it without these shoes.. The shoes feel stabilizing and comfortable. (I alternated days with these shoes and my Salomon hiking shoes which are also excellent).

These 1400v1 hiking boots are very light weight. The boot covers and supports the ankle when traversing over rocks and tree roots. So far they have held up very well for their use.

Love the fit and feel of the 1400 trail boot. It has the inner comfort of the 990 and the ruggedness of a true hiking boot. I purchased the black version and so far nicks and scrapes are barely visible. The boot protects my ankle from unintended missteps over rocks and tree roots. Great waterproof exterior. Can't wait to really use them in the winter with the Thinsulate.

I was looking for the perfect hiking boot that could endure rigorous weather, yet have the comfort of a running shoe. This boot exceeded all my expectations. Not only is it water proof keeping all snow, mud, ice, etc. from contacting your feet and ankles, but it is also exceptionally comfortable. The shoe laces and additional lace hooks at the top of the boot allow you to adjust the boot perfectly to your foot. I used the sizing chart that allowed me to choose what brand of running shoe I wear along with the size, and the boots fit perfectly given the size they recommended. I didn't want to spend this much on a hiking boot, but they are well worth the price!

Thrilled they come in narrow. Very comfortable and light for a waterproof hiking boot.

I have had problems and pain in both feet when wearing other shoes. New Balance is the only shoe I have worn for decades. I love them!

I've logged well over 1000 miles in my first pair of these. They remained waterproof for most of that time but now need replacing. I'm happy to replace them with another pair as I've been so satisfied with them as my fall, winter, and spring walkers, good for any and all conditions.

Love the way New Balance revised previous version of this boot. Very comfortable. I work outdoors and I never have a problem with the cold. Excellent in wet conditions as well. I did have to go one size larger but fortunately I bought my first pair in the store. Will purchase again.

I was looking for a pair of shoes that would be comfortable for walking as I walk my three dogs daily and walk for fitness. I'm almost 69 years old and have very wide feet, so I have a hard time finding shoes that fit. I also have developing hammer toes. I started buying New Balance when I had plantar fascitis as New Balance was recommended by my podiatrist, and I still wear walking shoes from New Balance. But I also wanted something to wear that would keep my feet dry and would be more suited to rainy or snowy conditions without being overly heavy or tall. I found the 1400v1 and ordered a pair, and have worn this pair almost exclusively for my walks around our gravel/dirt roads, farm lanes, hay fields, and pastures since September 2016. My feet have never felt better in a pair of shoes or boots. I am wearing a size 9EE and have no discomfort from my problem toe. It's been a pleasure walking in rain, wet fields, and light snow (up to five or six inches) and having comfortable, dry feet. After logging over 850 miles in my first pair, I do get a little wetness in the shoes if it's very wet out so I think the waterproof membrane is beginning to lose its integrity. Also, if I'm wearing rain pants and it's actively raining, my feet will get wet because of water that runs down the rain pants onto the tongue area and seeps in there. I am shortly going to order my next pair of these and expect to be just as pleased. They may not be the best shoe for everyone but they certainly have been a great shoe for me and my needs.

I am so ecstatic to finally find narrow boots. It's such a blessing to have a boot w/ the correct width for my skinny foot so that I get the proper support for my weak arches. So much better than having to wear two pair of thick socks to try to fill up a medium width boot--which may fill it up, but doesn't offer proper support. I put these boots on and wore them the whole day with no problems. After years of searching, I now have a pair of boots I can wear in snow & bad weather--no more cold, wet feet. New Balance, how about offering your pull-on boot styles in a narrow width?
