This hiking boot is extremely uncomfortable, even painful if worn for very long. The roll bar for stabilizing doesn't allow your foot to move naturally, and is very stiff. When I wore the boots for hours, I ended up with plantar fasciitis(and in a lot of pain) because of the artificial, stiff nature of the boot. My recommendation is that New Balance discontinue the manufacturing of any shoes/boots with roll bar technology. I will never buy another product that has this "feature".

I am reviewing the dark brown waterproof women's trailwalker boot, ww1400v1. This boot is coming apart after less than 6 months of casual day walking. there is a big gob of dried glue on the bottom of the upper boot that made a deep impression on the inside of the sole, it must have been the cause of the boot separating. Cust service at the new balance factory will not replace it, even though it is obviously a defect and I offered to return it. But, they will only give a partial credit toward a new pair from their website. My size is not in stock and unlikely to restock until the late summer. There was already a problem with the size being too short with the last pair I bought in my regular size before, but had worn the boots a few weeks so couldn't return that pair. EVERY pair of shoes or boots from this company has laces that won't stay tied, so I have to buy flat laces locally. If there were minus stars I would give them a minus ten. I have photos of the problem.

I've had these shoes for 2 seasons in an urban setting. The black rubber that goes around the shoe at the bottom of the upper, dries out and cracks. So much for waterproof. The inner lining in this shoes and other recent NB ones do not stand up well. I'm switching brands.

I've worn nothing but New Balance walking, hiking and running shoes for decades. My recent order, same size and width, was a huge disappointment and I hope the exchange size/width descriptions return soon and it or else that's it. Everywhere else I buy footwear from I always order the same size and fit and never have a problem.

These boots are not sturdy enough for hiking. They are too flexible and lightweight. The soles are too thin and they do not have enough tread. The toe box is not tall enough for my big toe.
