I am a big New Balance fan because of the roller bar for support, but this boot, although the right size rubbed my left heel in such a short time, I knew I would have problems. I think there is a seam at the heel area that causes this rubbing, at least for me. I was replacing a similar pair of New Balance boots that I had worn out and never had this problem. I have to be honest though, I really did not like the crimson tongue. It had wrinkles in it, which are supposed to be there, I guess, but I just did not like the look. I sent these shoes back, the first pair I have ever sent back, and it was very easy to do.

I loved the look of the 1400V1 but the toe box was not deep enough for me

I wore a previous version of NB boot on the Camino de Santiago de Compostela in 2010 and the boot was a dream. The D wisdth fit my feet perfectly and they kept my feet warm and dry. I am going again in September and realized they were probably worn too much so I called the NB store 100 miles away to order another pair. I was told they don't make that boot any longer and sent me the new version. It is a full inch shorter than the same size boot in the older version. It also appears to be built on a tennis shoe base instead of a boot base. I am horribly disappointed in the new version and will now have to find time to drive to the store to return them and a new pair of 1340 walking shoes that also seem to have taken a quality dive to be refitted. I never thought I'd say this but at this point I will also be shopping other brands.

The 1569 boot was a perfect fit for me. Comfortable, rugged, wore it almost every day. The width of this boot was fine, but length much too short

Ordered the 6E width to allow a little heavy sock room with my standard 4E requirement. Even with thin socks there was minimal toe box room. Returned the boots, Cannot recommend due to sizing discrepancy.

I am very disappointed with these boots which seem to replace NB WW1569. I wore the1569s for years. Had numerous pairs and wore the 1569's all day working in the forests of New England to hiking in Africa. These boots are too puffy, you feel like you are walking on marshmallows; cannot feel rocks underfoot very well. If you are walking smooth manicured trails they are ok. But I am most often off-trail in rugged terrain; these are not good for that. The old 1569's never let me down and were the best on slippery uneven rocks, you could feel the rocks well underfoot but also were very confortable. Not these new boots.
Disappointed,

Tongue is sewn into place, so it is difficult to get into shoe if you have a high instep. Have to return.

Don't seem to fit true to size- I wear a 12 women's and that's the biggest size, so I couldn't order up and they were too small.

I really wanted to like these and even kept them for a week walking around the house every day, but just didn't work. The left shoe felt fine, but with my orthodics, the right shoe was too tight on top. They really are not that wide either even though they are advertised as such. I am trying Keen next.

I'm disappointed in these boots. I've been a die-hard New Balance devotee for more than a decade. I rely on the Rollbar technology to help with my overpronating feet, and will spend more money on New Balance products than on other brands because I have come to trust the brand. But no more after buying these boots. Not only are they not comfortable like all of my old New Balance hikers, but they actually cause me MORE foot pain than I have in other shoes. This stinks. And I paid this much for the privilege. Guess I will try LL Bean next time.

I purchased these a while back & tried to wear them a couple times while walking our pup.
The upper part around my ankle hurt so bad I gave them away.
& it's not easy when there is such a limited number of choices for a 5.5 EE & they were not inexpensive !!!!!!!!!

Sizing and fit is inconsistent. I have finally learned my lesson that it is impossible to purchase NB shoes online without first going into a store to try them on. Not only that, but these boots had signs of being worn and returned before me. Fit is too narrow in this style. A shame too.

These boots run small! i purchased a size 8. I have skinny feet and these shoes are very tight/snug and hurt my toes . The back is a bit to short to. If you have wide feet these boots will not fit properly. Such a disappointment from New Balance. I have worn new balance for years, which is why I purchased these boots as I have bone spurs. If you buy these, buy a size larger in a wide width if possible.

I have been wearing New Balance shoes for a long time. I have always worn the same size (no matter the style) for as long as I've been wearing them. So, when I ordered my size I expected them to fit just like my other pairs. WRONG! These were too small. My big toe rubbed the end of the boot inside the toe box. I couldn't wear them so ended up giving them to my mother.

Unfortunately this shoe is not true to size. I could barely get my feet in the shoe. The ankle hurt immediately. I also had pain in my toes. I have bought New Balance for years. This was very disappointing. The leather did not seem good quality either. I returned them.

I really wanted to love these and I need a hiking boot/shoe, but the sizing is way off. My normal size is 7 XW. Had to go up to 8 XW before they were long enough, but they were still way too narrow. Something is seriously wrong with New Balance sizes on these. Which is too bad because they the gray / aqua look great. Especially unfortunate they run so narrow if you already wear extra-wide, leaving no where to go to get them any wider. Am really mad at New Balance for such a disappointment when there are so few options for those of us with extra wide feet.

The recommended size of 6 versus my usual 5.5 was much to small. I need a wider toe box and since I already own a pair of NB shoes in 6 with D width I thought these would be ideal. Sadly not so. Will exchange for another size and hope they fit.

These boots were only a few months old and lightly worn when the outer sole came off the left boot. No one has allowed a refund or been concerned at New Balance. There a big gob of dried glue between the outer and inner sole that seems to have caused this. It's an expensive defect that should be corrected with a full replacement, but even writing to the CEO of New Balance got no response. The other problem is these boots run a half size too short, and when holding them up to other New Balance walking shoes, it's an obvious difference. So I had already bought my usual size, but then had to buy another pair when the toes felt too crowded. VERY unprofessional response from this company , that they won't replace the defective pair.

These were fine until I wore them on a rainy day. I slipped and fell twice, resulting in unpleasant injuries. The soles gave NO traction on slippery rocks. These shoes ruined my "trip of a lifetime". I will still wear them for everyday walks, but never on trail hikes. I bought a half size above normal size and fit is okay with mid-weight sock, too tight with hiking socks. These replaced an older version that was much better in every way.

I LOVED the previous style of this boot, the NB 977 GT, so I wanted to enjoy these as well. I had always been able to comfortably fit the 8 2E w/ Spenco arch supports, but this new style is too narrow in the toe box depth. & the top is too high, it rubs my tendon & makes my ankle joint hurt. The lower style doesn't hold my ankle enough. I bought 4 pairs of the old boots, so NB messed up with the redesign. The new sole doesn't have as much grip on trails either. VERY disappointed!
