Zappos strength is service. It's amazing. Turn around for exchanges is stunning. The team of customer support reps are always polite and enthusiastic. I highly recommend them.

Wow! These are the most comfortable boots I've ever had. They are surprisingly light weight. I wore them a whole day right out of the box and no sore spots!

I tried out these boots because I need a narrow size. I use them for some hiking and for dog walks and around the farm. The narrow are still a bit too wide for me, but they do the job. I find the boots very comfortable, with some ankle support, but a few months into purchase, they are definitely NOT waterproof at all. After a half hour of walking in a wet meadow, my socks were wet. Too bad about that, they're not rain worthy by any means unless you're just stepping out onto sidewalks and roads.

I was worried when I first tried these on that they might run small as it was a tight fit. However I've worn them for several long walks and I haven't had any related soreness.

My second pair..i walk everyday in the winter with these shoes..comfy, warm and good ankle support. My only peeve is that the soles are slippery on a wet metal or a marble floors...you have to be really careful otherwise you will be on the floor with a thud! However, I haven't found a good replacement that is light and waterproof like this pair.

These are great boots! I put these on and I think I heard my feet say Thank you! I have 3 husky dogs and I walk a lot. I never got a blister or had sore feet right from day 1. I only buy New Balance running shoes so I had great expectations for these boots and was not disappointed. I have weak ankles and plantar fasciitis and my feet don't suffer when I am in these boots. I am very impressed that these boots come in 4 different width sizes. Not many brands have a wide or extra wide. These are very water proof and can handle puddles. They feel like you are wearing a pair of running shoes. I don't find these boots too heavy but feel sturdy, durable, flexible, warm and strong. Love them! My only negative comment is the traction on ice or slippery ground. These boots are fantastic in rain, heavy snow or dry ground, but as soon as there is a bit of frozen water or even when the grass is frozen these boots have no grip. If the traction or tread could get an upgrade these boots would be getting 5 stars all day every day. If you had the same tread as the Wind River Icef/x they would be awesome. That change would make these boots the absolute perfect boots. This is my 2nd pair of New Balance Boots, unfortunately the Wind River boots do not come in a Wide or extra wide only standard. For now I put on the ice grippers over my boots to get me by on those slippery days, which we have a lot in Barrie, ON.

I normally wear a 6.5 Narrow (2A) in a Running Shoe.
I originally ordered W1400 in 6.5 Narrow (2A) but reordered in a size 7 narrow (2A) which seems to fit better (more toe clearance.) I will be hiking up and down trails so I'm hoping the added 1/2 size will give my toe tips adequate clearance.
Several years ago, my husband ordered NB M1400, Size 12B boots. For over 25 years, he normally wears a NB running shoe size 12 B. He had toe clearance problems with the 12B Boots and had to stop wearing them.
NB doesn't make a size M1400 12.5 N so he ordered 13B N and has worn out several pairs. He says these are the most comfortable boots he has ever owned. When a pair wears out, he orders a new pair and never any hot spots or blisters.
If you have a low volume narrow foot, NB is the company for you.

I live on a hilly acreage in the appalachian mountains. These boots are great for the terain. I wear them while working in the yard and when I'm mushroom hunting. They keep my feet dry and the soles have good traction.

I have run in New Balance 990's for 30 years. They just fit my narrow foot like no other shoe. So, when I started hiking a couple of years ago, I tried a couple of other brands that didn't fit before realizing I should try New Balance. I have worn these boots in hot desert conditions, on muddy trails, up and down steep trails and in snow (they are waterproof). The 9.5 Narrow boot (same size as I wear in 990;s) are snug with a medium thickness sock and my feet don't swim in them. I love that! They have decent cushioning, but the support is the best. Having weak ankles from the many years of running and tearing ligaments, support is a must-have! These boots have saved my ankles a dozen times or more when I've stepped on a rock or root I didn't see. Okay, now for the "not great" part: the tread needs to be improved and the dark grey style needs to be revived! When walking on slippery surfaces, I have to be very careful. The tread is just not deep or heavy enough. I had to retire my first pair because I had worn the tread down to the point the boots were dangerous. Lastly, this may be just my preference, but it would be great to have a 2nd pair that wasn't all leather for summer. I'm not sure why the grey style was discontinued, but it should be brought back.

I have flat feet issues and New Balance were recommended by my podiatrist and I've worn the running shoes ever since. Recently looking for a hiking shoe with better traction -- probably purchased 10 pairs online and ultimately returned each. Ordered these -- wasn't as excited about them as didn't really want the boot style but they hold my foot steady and caused no foot pain so far. Recommend.

I don't do hiking, just daywalking on roads or grass with these women's new balance trailwalkers. It have had very bad luck with the past models of these, with the front soles coming loose in less than a year. I have only worn this pair a few times after getting them about two weeks ago, and the fit is very comfortable for my narrow foot, but they run about a half size too short. They have good support and cushioning, my orthotics fit into them well after taking out the factory insoles.

The boot is very nice, comfortable and fits well for my wife, however, the inner comfort on the fingers could have been better.

I wear them when I'm walking. I walk about six miles most mornings and they're really comfortable and have good grip when it's icy.

I've been wearing the 1400 Women's hikers for some years now. For my very wide feet with cross-over toes, they are the most comfortable things I put on my feet, and I walk daily on pavement, gravel/dirt roads, fields, and woods, logging about 30+ miles a week year-round in these. I can wear them straight out of the box for a 4-mile walk and not have a problem. They are one of the very few hikers I have ever seen that come in an Extra-wide (4E) footbed, and that means I can wear them in summer with a light wood sock and still have room in winter for a heavy wood sock for bitter cold walks. I have, until this winter, worn the brown (uninsulated) in summer and the black (lightly insulated) in winter, but sadly the black have been discontinued and I had trouble getting the brown in my size this fall, although I was finally able to order and receive a pair.
What I don't like is that the waterproof feature does not last very long, maybe the first three months I have a new pair. I don't wear them in puddles or running water, just walking in the rain or through wet grass and once the waterproofing is no longer functional (or breaks appear over the ball of the foot), my feet get soaked. And the longevity seems to be lessening. A pair used to last me a solid seven months but now starts to show breakdown where the foot breaks over the ball of the foot and in separation of the footbed from the upper after four to five months. I used to give these five stars but for these reasons, I reduced it to four stars.
Nevertheless, even though I bought a more expensive pair of highly-rated hikers elsewhere when I couldn't get these this fall, I still find them the most comfortable shoes for my feet and they will remain my go-to hiker for that reason, because they require no breaking in, and because they are about the only hiker I can find that come in the size/width I need. At age 72, nothing is more important than having feet that feel good!

These seemed like good boots, but hit a spot I've been having trouble with. I'm optimistic that my foot will improve with PT, but until then I didn't want to commit to these boots until I know that for sure. If so, I'll re-purchase them. The tread and support both seemed very good. I'd be happier if the body of the show itself was breathable, but I suspect the breathable tongue would suffice.

I have odd feet and have had trouble finding a hiking boot that is comfortable. After wearing NB shoes for years, I finally thought to buy the same size and width of hiking book. I thought I would prefer the other color, but only the brown was available in my size. I like it a lot. They are an attractive shoe. So far they are quite comfortable too. More hiking will tell the tale.

Love the styles. Bought 2 of the 3 colour choices. Great for mild rainy season and mild winter of Seattle area, not water proof, but water resistant, enoug to keep my feet dried. One strange thing about these mid-high NB boots though, they squeak when walk!!

Very comfortable - great fit. It did squeak a little after a few drops of rain so I am waiting to see if that continues.

I have 2 pairs of NB walking shoes, which are perfect for me. My feet are rather small and quite wide, so I was thrilled to find these boots in my size - 6 1/2 Wide! When I got them, they felt tight, so I measured them against the walking shoes. They are about a 1/2 inch shorter and a bit more narrow. I returned them and ordered a half-size larger. I hope they will fit, because they look sturdy and well-constructed.

have worn New Balance for over 40 years. Tennis and walking. I wear a triple A shoe and find shoe shopping very difficult. These boots fit slightly tighter than my current tennis shoes but with regular not heavy soaks they're fine.

I buy these boots because they're available in women's 2N. They used to be very comfortable straight out of the box. Now they require quite a bit of breaking-in time. My last pair, I had to sit in my recliner for an hour massaging one of them and moving the leather around to straighten it - it took me about an hour, but I still had to wear a large bandaid on the top of my foot the first few weeks I used them. Once these boots are broken in, they're incredibly comfortable. They come waterproof, and they really are. After they're worn in, I clean them periodically and apply mole oil. They last a couple of hundred miles of walking, at least.

This is my 2nd pair of NB boots. This pair provides good support and the motion control I need. However, be aware that they run small. I wear a 10 1/2 NB running shoe, but had to go to a men's 10 to get the 11 1/2 I needed in this boot.
