Let me start by saying these are GORGEOUS boots. However, I couldn't get them to zip over my calf, which is 14". (Is that considered "wide"?) Also, the zipper got stuck about an inch from the bottom and was NOT going to go down and further than that, which made it a little difficult to get my foot into. I'm a 6-6.5 (I like to go bigger with boots so that I can wear thick socks), and these were too small on my BARE foot in a size 6.5. So I would say size up, and go with wide calf if you have "athletic" calves or want to tuck your jeans into these.

This boots are nice looking ones but narrow even if you choose to get a Wide size. I'm 6W but decided to go with 6.5W and even with the extra length room, feel tight. Very nice color and style, but will go back.

Too tall for petite people (I am 5'0")! Otherwise cute and probably comfortable, sorry I can't keep them. Ankle is a little big FYI.

These boots took some trial and error to get right. I usually wear an 8.5 or 9, and I'm frequently right at the border between regular width and wide width. I also have wide calves (~15.5"). I originally ordered the wide calf version of the Penny boot (the Penny2) and the leg shaft was HUGE, at least two inches too large for my legs, while the foot (size 8.5 regular width) was WAY too narrow. Then I ordered the 8.5 wide width in this boot, the Penny. The foot length was good, but the foot was a little narrow and the leg was really tight. I could get them zipped, but after just a few minutes I could tell they would be really uncomfortable, so back they went. I exchanged for the 9 wide, which have just enough width in the foot and the leg. They are still a little snug across the balls of my feet, but I think they will break in. They are also a little loose in the heel, but I think a heel insert should fix that. The olive color reads as more of a warm tan-colored grey than a true olive green, but it's a great color and looks good with lot of different outfits.

Cute and stylish but the foot felt a little too narrow and the ankle portion was too wide. Personally, I need boots that are still fitted in the ankle and don’t get that weird slouch just there.

I like these boots ok, but they were too small. I really had to jam my foot in. The calf would have been big enough, which is nice. I didn't like them enough to go up a size. They are fairly plain but seem high quality.

I wanted to love these, but they just didn't quite fit right. I have Sam Edelman in other styles and find they fit my wide feet perfectly while still looking cute. I love the way these look, but one is just slightly too large, so my foot slips out when I walk. I didn't notice this until I had to walk about 3 miles and got horrible blisters to show for it. As I have had to get custom-made boots in the past, I know for a fact that my feet are EXACTLY the same size, so this must be some sort of QC issue. As it was too late to return them, I now just wear an extra sock on one foot, and it's not a huge deal.

Beautiful leather. Unfortunately, too narrow in a 10 Wide for my 10W foot.

These are my third pair of Penny boots and I love them. I live in Maine and wear them throughout the winter so they get really beat up with all the salt, if I took better care of them I'm sure they would last me a lot longer. They are like the more affordable version of the Melissa Frye boots (which I also own a pair of) but they have way better traction than the Melissa's and a zipper in the back. I have a hard time finding boots that fit right, especially around my calves (and I don't think my calves are THAT large) and finding ones that don't go ALL the way up to my knees but these fit perfectly. I will say that this last pair feel a little different than my other two pairs did, it could be because my others were extremely broken in, but the material around the foot feels a lot stiffer and sturdier which is probably a good thing and could help extend the life of them. They were also a little tighter around my calves than I remember but I'm sure they'll stretch out a bit. In the past I've ordered the Medium width because I don't have wide feet, but this time they only had the Wide width available so I figured I'd give them a shot...they don't feel any different to me, so if you actually have wide feet these may be a little tight on you.

Item runs small in the calf area. Nice quality product.

These are good looking boots. I've discovered that Sam Edelman boots do not fit my feet, I tried my size and a half size up, one too snug, one too loose. Nice boots, no fit me. Returned.

I love these boots! I searched long and hard for a nice pair of black leather riding boots and was thrilled when I came across these. They are sleek and stylish which I love. And the leather is soft and forgiving.

I loved these boots, but despite ordering a W when I normally wear a M, they were still narrow across the toe box. Didn’t feel like much arch support either. So am reluctantly returning them.

Very good looking boots. I'm thinking that this brand just doesn't fit my feet. Felt narrow and too tight. Just not right for my feet. Returning...

Nice looking boot but even with the Wide, the fit was too tight due to my high instep. Size was right for toes but had to return it.

I really liked the booths; however, the wide width was very narrow. My feet hurt as soon as I put them on.

I should have listened to the advice of other reviewers. I am exchanging these for a wide width. My foot is on the narrower side and I never, ever need a wide width except with these boots. They were ok with a very thin sock around the house, but I fear would become uncomfortable throughout a long day of wear. Overall though, they are a very nice, stylish boot. I have thicker calves that seem to be too big for some regular tall boots, but not big enough for the wide shaft boots. These ones zip up a little tight, but with some wear will likely be just right on me. Excited to get the wider width pair to wear casually or at work.

These boots are so pretty but sadly they are not WIDE at all. This is my second pair to order just to be sure. The maker did not make the sole to be a true wide fit. I am so sad!!

This is a beautiful and well made boot. The leather in the shaft area is very soft and comfortable. However, this is a very narrow shoe. My feet are not wide by any means and I have never had a width problem but this shoe is narrow even for me. It is also very "flat" by the toes. Not made to be worn all day if you have to walk a lot. But it is a beautiful shoe.

Cute but if you have a wider foot in the front they may be tight. Wear a thin sock!

Boots were beautiful, leather was very soft. But they were too tall for me (I'm almost 5'3".)

This is a beautiful boot! The leather is soft and I thought the Whiskey color was lovely. I knew Sam Edelman ran narrow, so I purchased 1/2 size larger than my usual size and got a wide--I have wide feet, so wide isn't out of the ordinary for me. Unfortunately, the wide wasn't nearly wide enough--it was still extremely tight across the center of my foot. Had to be returned.
