The regular size felt too small, definitely order 1 size up! Especially if you plan on wearing socks.

Just an addition to previous awesome review, forgot one thing that I feel is important to include... I have pretty thin calves and found these boots to be quite narrow, actually the narrowest out of the other 5 pairs of tall/riding-type boots I own. If you have muscular/larger calves, check to see if these are available in a wide-calf option, otherwise they will not work for you. Sorry!

Soft leather! Like butter! Comfortable right out of the box. I get compliments every time I wear them. These boots were a splurge for me, but well worth it due to quality, fit, and timeless style. The grey color is cool; has a hint of taupe. Goes with anything! Love these boots and love that Zappos had them to me in 3 days!

Fantastic boots. I searched for over a year to find the perfect boot, and now I have found them! No zipper issue. Comfortable immediately. Goes with nearly everything. Got in antique black. Always wanted a pair of Frye boots, and now I've got some.

Just wanted to say that these are beautiful boots and I normally wear an 8 in almost everything, but these 8's were WAY too small. But it must just be these, because I have since bought another Frye riding boot and those 8's fit great!

I read many reviews before ordering these and saw mixed reviews on what size to order. I made the mistake in the past of ordering up a 1/2 size to an 8 with the Melissa Button boots and now slosh around in boots that stretched and are too large. I ordered a 7.5 in these and had the most difficult time zipping them on the first wear! I even zipped and unzipped them over and over before trying them on (as suggested). I have very thin calves, but once I was able to get them zipped (literally, took me 10 minutes to get them on), the calves were quite tight! I researched this and found that this antiqued style varies greatly in calf circumference! I almost sent them back and up-sized, but decided to try breaking them in. I could not wear them with thin socks the first couple wears, but after about a week, the leather stretched and they are a perfect fit (even in the calf). So, order in your size, expect difficulty getting them zipped and discomfort during the brief break-in process, then enjoy.

The perfect boot. Snug on a skinny calf. Took one day to break in and then they feel like butter on your feet. Goes with everything from dresses to skinny jeans. I usually wear a 8.5 but 8 fit just fine on me. I don't wear thick socks with these. Once you go Frye, you can never go back.

I have always looked at Frye boots from afar because I am not used to spending so much on my shoes. After wearing the same 2 pair of LL Bean boots for the last 10 years and trying to fill in with a cheap pair of fake leather boots I realized that if I could find one really good pair of boots that I would wear them all the time and I would get my money's worth. I started with the Frye Celia but didn't like the way they slouched at the ankle. They were very comfortable though and had they looked a little more tailored I would have kept them. Next I order the Frye Harness in Stone Antique Cognac. I loved the way they looked right out of the box. A slight distressing and the dark brown has some black tones running through so I knew that these would look fabulous with brown or black. That issue was solved. Perfect color and look. Next, getting them on. No problem. A little snug around calves but I knew the wide calf would be too big and I love how these look. They seem just a little higher in the shaft which makes my legs look longer. After wearing them only once I can tell they are stretching out some. Not in a bad way but a good way... giving me more flexibility and room. So I believe these will be the kind of boots that form to the person wearing them. My huge issue is the foot bed in any shoe. I wear Birkenstocks exclusively. I need that support. No shoe anywhere is going to give this support like a Birkenstock so I know that going in. But these have something that is giving me support so that I feel supported, not like I am just out there. So far so good. Color: Perfect. Fit: Good. Support: Good. I wore them to church with a dress and looks adorable! Style: Fabulous! I give these beautiful well made boots a 9.3. Only Birkenstock support could make them and 10 and that's not happening so I guess they deserve a 10. I love these boots and see me wearing them for many many many years to come! I wound up buying these boots in two colors! I had not had a pair of Frye boots since the '70s. I had tried on many styles of Frye boots between the '70s and 2013, but had never found a pair that fit well. The Phillip Harness fits perfectly. The back zipper allows you to fit the Phillip Harness like a glove, with no gap around the ankle. Love these boots! So comfortable, and many, many compliments on my boots.

Super comfortable! They fit my slim calves, with plenty of room to tuck pants in. As for size, I wear an 8 1/2 in most shoes, and that's what I got. They are perfect!

These boots are amazing. They fit true to size and after ordering several different Frye boots, I like the harness the best. These appear to be slimmer in the ankle, others looked like rain boots on me. I am a size 8 with calves on the narrow side. Every pair's leather was beautiful, but they are unique. No two pair of Fryes are the same. I ordered the burnt red and that is what they are...they are more red than burgundy but remember no 2 are the same. Once I got over that...I appreciated the leathers uniqueness. I did get some heel rub...it wasn't a slip it was a rub. I'm sure after a couple more wearing in's that will resolve itself. When I first slipped them on the comfort and support was amazing. I gave a 4 star for the rub issue. I never had such a unique quality boot!

Great boot. Sharp looking. I wear a size 8-8.5... these I took an 8 in. they're a tiny bit stiff (not bad) the first few times you were them, and then they soften up. I wear these with thin socks. If you want to wear these with thick socks then order the 8.5.

I love the look! I am only giving 3 stars on comfort as they need to be broke in. Seem a little tight across top of foot, but I have that with lots of my shoes. I love the color, and they are buttery soft. If they break in and become more comfortable, I may buy another color!

After getting and returning, the Melissa Button (too low and wide) and the Melissa Logo (too tall and too wide at top) I landed on these perfect wonderful boots! The Phillip Harness feel like slippers. I have a bad back and need to wear good shoes if I am not wearing my custom orthotics. These are great. They are soft and comfortable they are so well built that they feel like they will wear forever. They are eye catching and I get compliments where ever I wear them!

Very nice boot. True to size. Fit just right on my medium/narrow foot. Nice fit in the heel-not sloppy. Would not fit on larger calves.

I wear these boots at least 4 times a week. They are my go-to shoes. I probably wear them even when the distressed look isn't totally appropriate. I love them. I'm tempted to buy them in another color. I agree that the zipper did stick a bit when I first got them but not enough to really matter.

I LOVE my new boots! ;-) I pondered for several days based on the reviews. I have athletic running calves and was concerned about the circumference. I called Fry boot company to better understand. The circumference goes up by each size. So a 7 1/2 has a 15" circumference based on the rep on the phone. I ordered mine from Zappos because of their great service. I am normally a 7.5 and ordered the 8 for a larger calf. I am super happy with both the fit and the quality. I had no issues with the zipper the first time. I will be able to wear these with or without pants tucked in. ;-) I am still considering returning for the 7.5, because I believe it too will fit just right. At any rate, they fit my running calves and my feet are super happy!

I love this boot! Not too chunky or heavy as some Fryes can be. No heel slipping either. Great quality. Hoping for more color choices.

Beautiful & comfortable. I got these in red, which is a lovely deep shade with touches of black distressing. The style is a nice blend of rustic and tailored. Based on other reviews I was concerned about the back zipper not working, but I didn't have any problems with it. The shape is fitted (and thus not clunky). I have skinny legs and ankles, and these just fit over skinny jeans. Ladies with curvy or athletic legs might find them too tight. I have never splurged on boots like this and am so happy I did; they're both gorgeous and durable and will see a lot of use.

Wow. This boot is beautiful. However, I did have some problems zipping them up and down the first few tries. I usually wear 8.5, these boots require a size 9. Super comfy from the first step of the day to the last. The height is flattering. May not work for you if you have super muscular calves. I get lots of compliments on these boots. Looking forward to antique black as soon as it is in stock!

These boots are gorgeous and everything I hoped for and expected. The leather is soft and the shaft fits closely to my leg and ankle giving them a nice shape without being too snug. (I would say I have larger than average calves and ankles.) I did not have trouble zipping them, even the first time I tried and I like that it is in the back. I ordered my normal shoe size and they fit well. They are great!

I love these boots! I got the antique red and the color is beautiful and just what I wanted. The leather is so nice and soft, quality above and beyond. Fit is perfect!

I love these boots! They are comfortable, the zipper up the back helps them fit snugly and the leather is very soft. I had no problem with the zipper being difficult to maneuver, which had been a little bit of a concern. I have thin calves, am 5'9" and have had a problem with other styles gapping. These fit comfortably close without a gap - perfect with both skinny jeans and bare legs. I always order half a size down in Frye boots for a perfect fit. The harness detailing is the perfect finish on these terrific boots. They are exactly what I wanted!

A beauty! Love Fryes in general now have 5 pairs and still building my collection. I think Frye has the best boots in the universe!!! Quality like no other and workmanship WHOA!!! I am a boot fanatic have probably over50 pr., (I have no room for them theyre stacked everywhere) Not only great looks but comfort as well. I love the look and quality of these boots. They are comfortable... for a boot like this. Not much arch support to speak of but I can't say none. Beautiful boot! I have muscular calves and I thought I might need to buy the one with the larger calf, but the regular one worked just fine.
