I received the boots only to find that the zipper on the left boot would not go down all the way. It is a very difficult zipper even when it does work. I returned them after I called Zappos to let them know of this defect. They were out of stock so I didn't receive a replacement. I reordered a week later and again zipper did not work on the left boot. Could this be the same pair that I ordered a week prior? Also they are very tight around the calf and I have average size calfs. I did order on Amazon when Zappos was out of stock and again the zippers were very difficult to work. I feel that Frye needs to re-look at this product zipper since the price point is very high for this kind of issue.

I just ordered & received the Frye Phillip Harness Tall boots. I really love the style of these boots, the low heel, and the beautiful dark brown color. Even though I am a 6½ wide width shoe (5'3" and 132 pounds), the footbed was just a tad snug. A little break in would most likely stretch the leather in that respect. The footbed did feel pretty darn great, however, I have 14½" calves and a high instep and could hardly get these babies zipped! My legs felt like they were in sausage casings! That was too bad because out of the two I selected to try, this pair, hands down, was my favorite. I have no choice but to return them. For you ladies with smaller calves, these are great looking boots! Two stars for comfort due to tight leg/calve.

My obsession with these boots knows no ends. I have been trying to find a replacement for a pair of Calvin Klein boots that I loved into disrepair. This quest for another has no finally, after 2½ years come to an end with these boots. After trying on countless pairs at countless stores, buying and returning countless through the wonder that is Zappos, these are the ones. I sized all the way down to a 7 in these because the leather will stretch (I wear an 8 in tennis shoes and a 7½in boots). I have also tried many Fryes and most made my ankle look terrible as my legs are fairly trim but because of the zippers all the way up the back they fit much closer to the leg. Fair warning the zipper is difficult to maneuver for about the first week of wear. I found pointing my toe once I got past my heel to be an effective trick to get it moving all the way up. I absolutely adore these and the only problem I can foresee is needing to resole the bottoms. I like the way the distressed leather looks on there but I need some traction for MC riding. That should not be too expensive though. Buy these if you are on the fence! Besides if you do not like them, we all know how wonderfully Zappos makes returns simple and painless.

I am a person who has never written a review about anything, and I had to say something about these boots. They are amazing! I got them in the smooth cognac. When I opened the box I seriously gasped because they were so gorgeous. The craftsmanship of the boot and quality of the leather is outstanding. I will have a very hard time ever buying boots from another company -- all others looks like junk compared to these. Totally worth every single penny.

I bought these boots directly from Frye and they are absolutely beautiful. As other people have noted, it's a bit of a struggle to zip them up initially but I've had them for a couple of weeks and they are a lot easier to zip up now. They have a very snug fit around the calf, which I like. I ordered the black and they are not distressed at all...just really soft and supple. I'm 5'2 and the shaft hits below the knee. All in all, a fantastic-looking, great-fitting, quality boot.

The best boots ever! I hesitated to buy these due to cost but then caved because I didn't want to miss out, and I am so glad I did! Love these boots. I normally wear an 8.5-9 and the 8.5 fit perfect and pose no problems for my wide feet and bunion. The leather is amazing, the boots shaft is straight with no slouch (which I love), and no problems with the zipper. If you're on the fence about buying these boots, do no hesitate!

I have bought and returned 4 pairs of other Frye boots cause they were no good. These are the greatest boots I have ever owned. They fit my calves perfect. They were the right amount of Vintage worn look and they are very comfortable! I bought the dark brown and the finish is perfect!

Amazing! Love these boots. They are incredible durable and comfortable. I have not had any of the zipper issues that previous reviewers mentioned. One note, the 'Black Antique Stone' color looks almost gray, quite a bit lighter than the picture. Overall, completely worth the money - I'll be wearing these boots constantly for years.

I bought these for my girl this holiday and I'm pleasantly surprised. Everything shipped fast and when I got was absolutely perfect. The leather is of an astounding quality and I've gathered that the comfort is second to none (she put them on Christmas morning and hasn't really taken them off since).

I have purchases many shoes and boots from Zappos over the years, I have never written a review before. These boots are the cutest ones I have seen in a long time. I bought the Cognac Stone Antiqued, they are gorgeous. I always buy boots in size 8 1/2, I go 8-8 1/2 in shoes. They fit so well, I love the flat heel, they are fab. If I had the money, I would buy more colors. Love.

These are great boots! At first, I was a little skeptical of the zipper in the back, but if you flex your foot up a little when zipping, there's never a problem... it straightens out the zipper! I love these. They are nice and sung around the calf, but not too tight. They work great over jeans or with a dress.

I fell in love with these boots as soon as they arrived but I had problems with the zippers. Both boots were very hard to zip up and down and. I was determined to make them work so I just kept zipping them and unzipping them about ten times and they loosened up and now work fine. Not sure if they are just stiff at first or what. These boots are incredibly comfortable and I have thin calves so I love the fit. Glad I kept them.

Love this boot! Fit perfectly as soon as I put it on! Comfortable and looks great with skirts as well as pants...I am thrilled with this purchase. I am 6 feet tall and have size 11 feet and it is challenging to find boots that fit in foot and calf...these have slim calves so no gap! While also fitting my long feet...yippee!

I ordered the stone antique cognac and the regular soft cognac. Both are really cute, but fit differently. I love the regular cognac! The calves are more narrow, which is great for me. Mine are 13 inches, and these fit with about 1-1.5 inches of room, so they probably fit up to 14-14.5. The antique cognac were huge on my calves and looked ridiculous, more like 15-15.5 inch width. So order the antique if you need wider calves, and order the regular soft leather if you need more narrow calves. I'm about 50/50 with 7.5 or 8, and am 7.5 in these. The foot area also fits perfectly. The zipper is a little tricky at the heel (after only two zips), but works fine and seems like it'll loosen up.

These boots are classic with just enough edge. I absolutely love them. I have bought Frye before and knew to size 1/2 down from my usual size, that said, these may have worked in my normal size (snug fit), but this beautiful leather will stretch with wearing. The zipper takes some work but not at all flimsy. Completely worth the investment.

I love these boots! I got them in "dark brown soft vintage". Although I was a bit concerned that they would be too reddish, they are a rich brown color, soft while remaining rugged and with just the right amount of character provided by the "vintage" treatment that, along with the back zipper, makes them perfect wearing up as well as down. I love how the leather sole is so quiet. They are much less stressful on my feet than clacking around town in my heeled boots. The only thing is that the fit is a bit narrow right before the toes in a way that makes me wish sometimes that I had tried a half a size larger. (I got a 7.5) However, they already have plenty of room in the toe itself and fit well everywhere else, so I might just have been swimming in an 8. It's a bit odd, since I have the James Wingtips in a 7, and they fit perfectly. Still, I'd rate these 5 stars all the way.

These boots are incredible! They are worth every penny. They're an updated version of the classic Frye; they're comfortable, sexy & cool at the same time and the back zippers work great. I will never wear a pair of lesser quality boots again. Second of all, let me say that this was my first Zappos order and they were incredible. There happened to be a problem with the website that day and the Zappos rep was helpful & courteous and upgraded my shipping for the inconvenience. All retailers have a problem from time to time, but it's how that retailer handles the problem that is important. I will definitely be a return shopper to Zappos.

These are the best things that ever happened to boots. They are everything I've been looking for in a tall boot. I'm 5'5/120 with kind of short thick legs but they fit me perfectly. I have avg. calves and they are perfect with jeans and a little room to spare. I got both black to compare... The washed vintage is a nice, dark shiny black; the calf is slightly narrower due to the shrinkage and slight puckering of the leather. The stone antique (my choice of the two) is matte and more grey, but you can just buff them a little bit with a bowl to get more of a worn black look, it's like someone forgot to do this because the grey polish just rubs off on things if you don't and can stain. Yes the zipper is a bit sticky, if it breaks I'll send them back to fry for a free repair, but reading the other reviews I assume it will get better. Cushiony insole. Nice ankle shape. No slouch. Do size up if on the edge, I wear 6.5 in Frye, these are a 7.

These are the coolest looking boots, very comfortable to walk in and the quality that you expect from Frye...gorgeous leather. I purchased the distressed brown color . They really do look and feel like your favorite boots that you have worn forever. I did have a little problem with the zipper the first few times but it's fine now. I feel they run true to size. I wear 8 1/2 and they fit great. Worth the money.

Absolutely beautiful! Super leather smell is permeating my room. Great craftsmanship as always from Frye. They fit in my usual 9 but no room for socks so I'm debating trying the 9.5. Never needed a 9.5 in Frye before but might try it this time to see the difference.

These boots are beautiful and have a tough girl edge to them! I wore them all day today and they were phenomenally comfortable. The zipper did stick initially but after zipping/unzipping a few times I didn't have a problem. The boots are beautiful, comfortable, and fit beautifully.

Wow! These just arrived -- have been coveting them for awhile now, but they're not sold in ANY stores around here. I was really worried that (a) they wouldn't zip up, and (b) they'd be too narrow on my calves, which are NOT thin. Neither one of these is the case! And these boots are stunning. I got some Melissa Buttons earlier this year and feel truly, madly deeply in love with Frye -- these have only made it worse. I will never own any boots other than Frye or Uggs again, ever. These just re-define what a well-made boot is all about. Thanks, Zappos, as always for wonderful service.

Beautiful boots. High quality and very comfortable. I get so many compliments every time I wear them. Worth the money. They will last forever.

Size: definitely run a bit smaller than Fryes normally do (which means pretty true to size in this case). I wear a 9-9.5 and the 9.5's fit perfectly. They are a little narrow - I have somewhat narrow feet and they fit nicely. Comfort: they are not super padded, but due to the low heel and good foot construction, they definitely were comfortable to walk in. Height (shaft): all the way up to the knee (I'm 5'7). Overall fit: the shaft is pretty narrow, and this is ultimately why I'm returning them. I don't have big calves but these were snug enough that I felt slightly uncomfortable with jeans tucked into them. And I was looking for more of a pull-on style shaft. I had no problems with the zipper, and the color/leather was very nice on the black black ones. I think these will do someone looking for a tighter, comfortable boot very well. Just not perfect for what I needed, and for the money, they have to be perfect. They certainly are cute though.

I love theses boots. They are a classic "forever" flat boot to knock around in. They are also comfortable.
