I have had this version boot for 5 years and love it. I am disappointed because while I love the color and look of this boot, the foot and ankle part of it is way too wide. It looks like a woman's boot on top and a man's wide boot on the botttom. This leaves too much room for the foot.
I am so sorry to have to return these.

The boots were comfortable however mine were too large and therefore had to be returned. Other than the fit too large, which I now know I have to go to a retail store to try on, they would have been perfect. The style of the caribou was super cute, stylish and very warm. Once I try on at a store I'm sure these boots will last a VERY long time.

I live in New York, and I needed something that was really good for the snow, but I have to say while these are such great boots and I'm sure would be amazing in areas where you get tons of snow all the time, they are just way too heavy and bulky. I would recommend for those who are looking to wear something that will keep them warm and still be able to function (I commute daily on the train, the bus, and walk a lot), stay away from these. I just ordered the Winter Fancy boots so hopefully those will be great for day to day and snow as well :)
In terms of fit, I'm usually an 8.5-9, I sized down to an 8 and it fit perfectly.

These boots will keep your feet warm and dry.
However, I need the secret to putting these boots on and taking them off. I have high insteps and practically take off the skin on the top of my feet! I even cut the elastic strap inside thinking it would help. Nope!
Takes forever to get the boots on and off.

I live in MN and have multiple snow boots. These are my least favorite. They are cute and all, but they are super heavy and clompy. Hard to get on and off. The laces come loose easily, even with double knots. They are good on the snowmobile and maybe outdoor ice fishing, but quick trips in and out of work or the grocery store- they are too cumbersome to deal with

These boots weigh a lot they are very heavy, but they keep my feet warm. They run small I should have sized a full size up. I usually wear a 9 and order a 9.5, but I wished I would have ordered a 10. They run short.

I'm a true 10.5. Every shoe, sneaker, sandal, snowboarding boot, etc. I own is a 10.5. After ordering 3 different sizes I wound up with a 9.5 size, and they still feel big.... I do like the style and warmth, but I'm not hiking thru frozen tundra for days. I'm just shoveling the driveway we it snows and going sleigh riding with the kids, so they are perfect for me.

Heavy, but well made. Feels a half size larger and not much arch support. Place a thin insole arch support under the felt liner and a boot sock for better fit. While the boot top opens wide, the felt liner does not, making it difficult to tuck pants into the boot. All minor issues for this good winter boot.

These are huge. They look good and are comfortable inside but do not flex well when walking. They are too heavy too. More working boots (but with a very soft rubber shell) than casual walking boots. The liner does want to come out when taking them off.

The liner inside this boot fits snug, so DONT order a size smaller or it will be TOO small, and the liner will stretch and rip.
The boots outer shell fits kinda big, which is misleading to people and is why they go to smaller sizes than normal, but thats just the style of boot this is, so dont listen to people on here who say go up or down a size like I did, order your NORMAL shoe size and save the headache.
They don't just slip on easy either, thats BS, even in your right size, with the liner its a bit tricky to get em on. People that say they kick them on and off have chosen sloppy oversized boots. Trust me. Which is why I also read complaints that they are too heavy and bulky! Yea, they would be when they are 2 sizes too big for your foot! DUH

Ordered online, received boots promptly. Sorel advises sizing down since boots are cut large. I stayed with my normal boot size and the Sorel's were tight. I could only wear them with light socks, and they were tight across the top of the arch. Returned - which was fairly easy - and ordered a half size larger. Couldn't just exchange them. Had to return one and order the second size. Replacements showed up and fit worse. Felt liner is much thinner than it used to be, and on the boots I got the felt wouldn't even meet at the top of my arch or my ankle. That means in cold only my sock and the leather tongue protect my foot from the outside temp's. Arch of boot was also tight where the tongue is sewn in. Can't comment on durability. Poor fitting on two pair indicate a quality control problem. If you're going to buy these, go into a store and try them on first. When I called to return the second pair Sorel said there was a return fee. Customer service did agree to waive the fee when I talked with them some more about why I was returning the boots. Pity. I used to lover Sorel's.

I bought the Caribou in gray about 9 years ago and only have worn them maybe 10 times. I live in Minnesota, so I thought these would be great to wear during the winter. The reason I don't use them as often as I would love to, is because they are too dang difficult to get on and off my feet. The felt liner is snug, yes I understand that, but the problem is the actual boot itself. The opening is too small and the material is too stiff. It almost feels as if I might break my ankles trying to get the boots onto my feet. Once I do, they are heavy and clunky, which is great for slushy ice walks. But if you plan to be driving or doing a lot of walking, maybe try something else. I really wished these would have worked out in my favor, but I'll be searching for something more easy to wear.
Disappointed I,

Husband bought this boot round a year ago, works outside shoveling and plowing, and after just a few months of wear, the sole of one boot separated from the boot and he had to have it repaired. Now with less than a month of shoveling again, he has to have the OTHER boots sole reattached to the boot!
Back in the day, we NEVER had issues with our Sorels, never needing repair, and wearing them for YEARS; I am SO disappointed in Sorel current quality, and will not purchase ever again...

Boots are narrow around the toes, clunky and not feminine at all. Look like men's boots. Returned.

I'm surprised by the general consensus that these boots are true to size. Also surprised that the website instructs you to order your normal size. If you click on sizing it says to size down if you're inbetween sizes, which i would not consider the case for me. I wear 12 or 13s. I got these in 12s and they are too big. Other than the size the boots seem great. 2 stars for bad sizing and bad sizing instructions on the site.

To be totally honest, I bought these in hopes that they would be the warmest boot that I have ever worn. I am sorry to report that my feet have in fact been cold in these boots multiple times.

I bought these at the end of last season, and just wore them on a very cold and windy day. My feet are freezing, and the temps were nowhere near the "-40" they advertise--more like 15-degree wind chill. I wear thick wool socks; the rubber just isn't insulated at all. It's like going out in rain boots, for goodness' sake! I had Sorels that lasted me over 20 years, but these are another quality altogether, what a shame. The previous boots weren't even high-end, like these are, but Sorel doesn't sell that style anymore. The rubber was different; this really is rain-boot rubber.

I returned these boots because they were too small for my size 12 feet. I could barely get my foot in the boot with a lot of effort. I would have liked to buy this boot in a size 13, but that was not available so I had to buy a different, more expensive boot from Zappos.
I'd also recommend:
I have owned Sorel boots for over 40 years. I don't have any experience with any other brands.

I love these boots, and having known and worn Sorels when we could afford them, they were so warm. I thought for the cost they would be warm. My feet are cold after a few minutes outside. Even with 2 pairs of warm socks. Rather unfortunate. I'm not certain what the rating is, but after -10 my toes are freezing!

They are very big I would order a size and half from your normal shoe's. Definitely not as comfortable as the old pair I use to have. Lots of reviews say the rubber cracks with in a year. I believe it now that I have been wearing them. Probably won't buy ever again.

At the start of the second snow season, the rubber cracked on both sides of the sole leaking snow and water into the boot. That was a suprise, to say the least. I've repaired them several times, but they simply crack wherever the rubber flexes. I realize these aren't the most expensive boots, but all the way up through the 1990's these were the known as the best, longest lasting winter boots available. I thought these were still made in Canada, they are not.
Time to start researching a different boot.
