I spent many years in the Army as a grunt, and understand the importance of a good pair of boots. I think this is my 4th pair of Merrells. They are about the best shoes I've ever owned. I wear them until they wear out, usually 3 or 4 years of hard use. I always buy the Gore-Tex lined shoes, waterproof and breathable, guaranteed. I'm not sure how waterproof the non Gore-Tex shoes are, personally don't want to take the chance. I mainly use these shoes for everyday wear, maybe a little light trail hiking. The soles are great and give you traction on rocks or in the snow and mud. They are comfortable and supportive. I get lots of compliments on them and have convinced many people to buy a pair and try them out. They look great with jeans, khakis, or shorts in the summer. Merrells might be a little pricey, but they are one of the few brands I can think of that are worth every extra penny.

Love these shoes! They keep my feet dry in the dewy grass and have good grip. I will buy more when these wear out.

This is the best walking shoe I have ever found. After several brands of walking shoes, I got a pair of Merrell Moab Gore-tex a couple of years ago. I gave that pair to my son and got myself a new pair. I like them so much, I bought two extra pairs to keep in reserve in case they discontinue them. They are excellent quality, durable, provide secure support, are very comfortable, and the Gore-Tex keeps my feet dry when I walk my dog through wet grassy fields. If you want an outstanding walking shoe, look no further!

I am a woman with a normal wide left foot and an extremely wide right foot (bunion and hammer toe caused by the bunion). I also have high arches and high instep. I tried about 6 pairs of women's W and WW hiking shoes and none worked, but the Merrill came close. So I decided to order the same boot in the men's W and adjusted for the size difference. In women's, I wear an 8 or 8.5 and ordered the men's in a 7.5. This hiking boot is perfect for my purposes: it is wide enough (at last!), comfortable for hiking several hours, holds my heel well, and doesn't let my foot slide too far forward on downhills. It's also fairly lightweight for a hiking shoe. I removed the footbed and put in a store-bought non-custom orthotic which has better arch support and helps to minimize the pronounced pronation in my right foot. I have not walked through streams or other wet conditions yet (it's pretty dry here in Colorado in the summer), but I ordered the Goretex because I want a waterproof, lightweight hiking boot, and so far these are great. One reviewer commented on the brown boot being really dark brown and the "red" in the photo actually being a muted rust color. This is accurate, but I happen to like the color. I prefer my hiking boots to not be loud.

These are excellent shoes but they felt tight. I ended up replacing them with half a size higher. I usually wear 7 to 7½; for these shoes I needed size 8.

The size is accurate 10.5 wide. The fit is comfortable. This is the second pair of merrells that we have purchased through zappos. The first pair was five years old.

This is my third pair of Merrell Moab! I need a wide width shoe and one that can hold a special shoe insert. These shoes have a body deep enough for the shoe insert (once you remove the originals). Very comfortable. I noticed this time that the shoe laces were not as long (used to be too long) but now they are a little too short. And, while I love shopping at Zappos, after I bought these from them I saw the same shoe considerably cheaper on Amazon.

I ordered these for my husband who walks, bends and crawls a lot in his job. He put these on the morning after they arrived and has had no complaints, blisters or sore spots. Thank goodness for the waterproof, Gore-Tex and Vibram aspects as he can go from inside dry to outside wet with safety.

Got a pair of these ten years ago as walking shoes for a long trip to Asia, and they rocked so much they've been my main shoes for a decade. Decided to replace the old pair - they were getting a bit ragged - and was delighted to be able to get the same shoe. If Merrell keeps making the Moab, I might be wearing a pair in forty years when I'm 95.

Worth every penny! My last pair of Merrell's (Moab Vents) never really died, but after 7 years I decided on an upgrade. This is an amazing shoe: camping in the rain, feet never got wet nor suffocated inside the shoe, the Gortex design shinned. Durable, comfortable and overall just an uber product. I anticipate a decade of usage, but again, they'll pay themselves off in no time; so I"ll likely get new ones...in another 7 years!

These are very comfortable and sturdy shoes. The color is nice, although the manufacturer could offer more color choices. It's sturdier than a sneaker but does allow for athletic workouts. It's also a bit dressier than a sneaker, so it goes with more clothes.

Could be the perfect shoe: wide enough, easy to get on and off and not as ugly as most in this category. I had a trip planned and they were going to be just what I needed. Unfortunately, the trip was cancelled so I had to return the shoes.

Amazing shoe! I needed a waterproof hiker to take on a 10-day trip to Iceland, and this shoe did not disappoint! It survived mountains, volcano field hikes, glaciers, and standing in streams up to the laces with no issues. It was surprisingly comfortable over such varied terrain. I would recommend this shoe to anyone.

This is my 2nd pair of the Gore-tex moabs. I like this color fairly well but I wish Merrell would make the kyrptonite available in wide sizes :( I also have the Merrell ventilators and the Gore-tex are just as ventilated as the ventilators, if that makes sense? These shoes will last forever and are comfortable all day long if...you buy a good insert with arch support.

I like the way these shoes look. Versus my old all black North face Hedgehogs. They are very comfortable. The soles being Vibrum gives you the felling that you not wearing some soft souled running shoes with a rugged looking appearance. The down sides are few. They are a click smaller than my usual. Being a 10.5 in every thing else. Getting shoes to fit is usually not a problem or a concern. When I went for a long walk/hike I felt the size of the shoe being off (rubbing tip of toe). I did not catch this until my first long walk. After wearing them out in the brush. I already see a few spots fraying on the sides. I will probably not get another pair of these. I do not feel that they will last that long. Don't get me wrong. These are pretty good shoes. Just for a 150.00 I would have expected them to fit as marked and to hold up a click better around out of doors. I might go back to wearing Solomon's. Can't get a pair to go past 8/9 months.

My husband had to have a pair after trying on the pair I received from Zappos. He loves the way they fit, look, and have Gore Tex. No break in period needed. He even wears them for casual/somewhat dressy when he needs a shoe for comfort.

Best shoes ever. I am now on my second pair of these. I wore these pretty much every day for 4-5 years. Possibly more. Gore-Tex = waterproof goodness. Adds to the price, but worth every penny. These look great. They're good for every day wear, on the path, or wherever. Again, best shoes ever.

Husband reports they are extremely comfortable shoes. 'They are out of the box comfortable.' Ordered a pair of inserts that make the shoe more comfortable. Thanks to Zappos, finding shoes in large sizes is a breeze!

My feet always hurt. My left foot heel always is sore. I have big toe nail issues. I have bad ankles. I need a good arch support and typically use Super Feet Green in all my shoes and my slippers too. The Merrell Moab XCR shoes fit well enough that I don't need Super Feet in them. I'm a senior male. Over 300 pounds. I'm glad Zappos has a good return policy I went through 3-4 pairs of other brands like Ecco before I got these. Very happy now.

I've owned a few different Merrell shoes in the past, mostly Chameleons, but these really are fantastic! Weather here in Vermont is not always predictable, but these shoes definitely deliver consistent comfort and great support! I have custom orthotics that I wear with all my shoes, and these Moabs are by far my favorite everyday, all-around shoes! Great product, fast shipping! Couldn't be happier!

After trying four other brands and widths, finally a nice wide toe box. These shoes are so comfortable for walking, and have good tread on the bottom for rough terrain.

I had ordered a pair of Merrells to try on for myself, and when my husband saw them, he tried them on and asked for a pair! I ordered the Merrell Moab Gore-Tex (he loves Gore-Tex), and the shoes fit him perfectly. He has a bit of a narrow foot, but a very high arch. He loves the fit of these, plus the comfort is excellent and the color is great for wearing into work on a wet day while his dress shoes stay dry and clean. Thanks to Zappos generous customer service and return shipping policy, both of us were able to find the Merrells that fit our needs the best!

At first I didn't like these shoes because I was using them as basically walking shoes which they are not. These are not good for long walks on asphalt, but then that's not really what they're designed for. In SF, I walked from the Warf to Golden Gate bridge and man were my dogs barking... haha. These shoes in inclimate weather, or on trails are pretty awesome. They keep your feet dry for sure. No problems there. They have a lot of stability too. This is why they make bad walkers, IMO. They err on the side of support vs comfort. They do get a little warm in warmer weather but not terribly so, but they also stay warm in bad winter weather. In WI this is one of the worst winters we've had in 40 years. So many days below 0F, yet I haven't had any issues with cold feet! :) The upper attached and can be a little tight if I wear big socks, so that might be something you want know. Pros: Great off road shoe, traction is good (except on slippery rock) and the weatherproofing is awesome. Keep feet warm and dry in sloppy winter weather. Cons: Upper is a little tight with heavier weight socks. Not good for prolonged asphalt walking > 2 hours.

I am between sizes (12 and 13) and have a fairly wide foot. So, I sized up on the Moab Gore Tex XCR. Too wide and too long (13W). I felt certain these would be a perfect fit. I had to return them and gonna try a 13D. Hope that works.

I bought these shoes for my husband to wear in the awful weather we have been having. His feet are very sensitive and he doesn't like boot that come up over his ankles. He has been happy with the way these shoes fit and how they stay comfortable. He will get these again.
