I work at PGA golf events and I'm walking around in the wet grass all day. It's a great test of these shoes. The first pair leaked and I replaced them (free exchange). They worked perfect for two events. I didn't use them much until the next years event where again they held up well (and dry) through 7 days of really wet weather. But this year, while walking the course in the rough, the right shoe leaked and my sock got wet. I also find the inside sole a bit rough, and I had to buy a $6 insert to soften them up. I know it's been 2+ years but I didn't wear them that much. I'm disappointed.
I'd also recommend:
Try another waterproof shoe. It may be better than this one.

Great shoe, very comfy. Gave it 2 out of 5 overall because it leaked. I do have sweaty feet but that didn't cause my socks to get wet. I walked in mud and when I got home, my socks were brown and muddy. Can't believe that Gore-Ttex sprung a leak.

I have had these shoes for less than 6 months and the inner lining is already torn and wearing out behind my foot. I wear them mostly around campus at the University and have put almost no miles on them on the trail. Overall they are comfortable but, I couldn't recommend them to someone who really wanted hiking/trail shoes bases on their durability.

The forefront on these Merrel shoes is too narrow. The size is wrong. The shoes appear to have been made narrower to save on material costs. I have kept them too long and Merrell says too bad. Should have bought them from Zappos.

The shoe in general seems great, but some things irked me about it: one, order a size up and two, I bought this shoe because I paint and work on my feet, but this shoe left marks on a client's wooden floors and tub that were very difficult to clean up. I would wear these shoes a couple of weeks outside before working inside on a house.

I bought these shoes to replace Gore-Tex sneakers. Big mistake. No support; had to buy new insoles from my local running shop to make these shoes wearable. Why I did not return them is a good question. Do not buy these shoes!

I have had 2 pairs of these shoes now and they are no good. I use them for work and have had my second pair for 1 month now and they are starting to fall apart already. They are very comfortable, but if you are looking for something to wear every day these are not the shoe..

Do not hold up! in less than 6 months the fake leather was pealing off and look like 5 year old shoes. The sole is separating from the uppers. Very comfortable and I am sorry that are not durable.

While they lasted (not long) these were waterproof as advertised. They were relatively comfortable--on my feet, anyway. But they fell completely after only a year or so. The soles separated from the uppers, and the rubber around the toes deteriorated and cracked. I didn't t even wear them much--just for my morning walk in the fields, and occasional yard work. No hikes at all. This is terrible quality. If Merrili is going to have its shoes made in China, they ought to institute better quality control

Got these shoes two different times from Zappos; each time they fell apart within a month. My account was credited for the purchase but I will never buy Merrell again. I recommend Columbia; I had a pair of less expensive shoes and it took 4 years for them to fall apart.

I've had many pairs of the non-Gore-Tex shoes, and I decided to upgrade to this model to get some waterproofing. The shoes are very comfortable and fit well, but within a few months, the back of the shoe started to come apart, and within 6 months or so, the back had completely disintegrated, with foam coming out of the back of the shoe. With no padding in the back, they're now rather uncomfortable. Apparently, these shoes are only meant to last 6-8 months, and this disintegration is normal. For the price (and based on the previous pairs I've had), I expected to get much more wear out of them. If you get these, don't plan on wearing them for more than a season.

These are good boots except for two things. First, the waterproofing. I sprung for the top-drawer Gore-Tex version thinking that this would keep my feet dry when hiking through marshy areas or crossing streams. Lots of this on the trails in New England. Nope, wet feet. This is in water just barely above the level of the sole. Second, the sizing. It is very short in the front, and hiking down hills the toes get jammed, even with the laces snugged up tight. This did not become fully apparent until I started taking longer 10 mile hikes, at which point my toes started turning black and blue. I really regret not having torture tested these shoes before the 12 month return window closed.

Aside from one minor issue the shoes broke in just fine. The problem started when they didn't stop breaking in. I've had them for <3 months, and I just finished Shoe Goo-ing the sole back on. These were purchased as an everyday wear item, and they just don't hold up. STAY AWAY!

I walk my dog every day. These shoes are waterproof for about a month, but after that, it's as if I am putting on two buckets of water each morning. They never seem to dry out. I am. Merrell fan and have many pairs of their boots and shoes. This price for waterproof shoes that are waterproof for a month is not worth the price.

This was the worst fitting shoe I have ever had. I have been wearing the Merrell Moab water proof for the past two years and they are great. One wonders how these shoes could be complete opposites when it comes to comfort and value.

I have bought many pairs of Merrell shoes I keep trying to find the quality that I hear so much about. I have not found it! I bought these Merrells last year and they where the worst of all of them. They lasted about one month before they started to deteriorate. I without question believe Merrell is an over hyped brand. They are not for the outdoors person but for the person who likes to say they are an outdoors person! Do not buy Merrel footwear if you are an outdoor person!

Both my husband and I have been wearing Merrell's for years. There is a serious problem with this shoe. It split horizontally, from the base of the shoe up, on both shoes. Obviously, they were not waterproof. Zappos was great about the return. He goes to the park daily. But, only on the paths and some grass, no streams, no mountains. I'm wondering if Merrell has changed factories. We'll see what the second pair does!

I had an earlier version of this shoe that lasted for years. However, the most recent pair that I bought is now unusable after just 22 months. The issue is that the top eyelet on of the left shoe cracked. As a result, the shoelace gets caught in the crack and won't slide. Put another way, I can pull the shoelace tight, but the eyelet won't release the shoelace when I untie the shoes. Unfortunately, not using the two top eyelets doesn't give me enough support.

Shoe feels great, but Gore-Tex has failed to keep my right foot dry. I will contact Merrell. I must have a defective shoe.
