Overly stiff, I did not feel like these shoes were soft at all. Unfortunately, immediately, and forever, if I run more than 5-6 miles in them I get a blister under my right great toe joint on every run. Period. So weird. I've never had shoes do that unless they fit poorly. The shoes fit me fine but I can not get rid of that issue. Additionally, I feel the generally cause some plantar fascia tenderness as well. I have had other shoes do this as well. That may be a personal problem. I had very high hopes for these shoes but unfortunately they did not jive with my feet.

The Hyperion Max 2 by Brooks is a nice running shoe. The look is sleek and stylish and I really like it. The colors are bright and fun. The look is fairly classic. When I first put them on, I noticed that they changed the way I pronated my feet, giving me more support on the outer side. The level of cushioning is comfortable; however, because of the thickness and the lack of support on the interior side of the foot, it can feel a little unstable as if I might roll my ankle. So far, I have used these primarily as a walking shoe, due to my concern for their stability on any uneven terrain. But I am looking forward to going for a run in them. What I like most about these shoes is they are very comfortable to walk in and as I have gotten more used to the stability feel and cushion, I have found them to be more comfortable. The fit and width feel just right. However, they do feel a bit tight across the top of my foot.

My favorite every day trainer I've ever had. Perfect mix of comfort and speed. This is the second pair I've bought. May have to buy another for the future when I wear this pair out. Will be sad to see them go.

Disclaimer - Brooks sent me a pair of these to test along with one of my orders. It was a great surprise and I knew I'd have to write about them at some point. Brooks was spot on with the sizing, too. Over the past month I've been using these kicks for a variety of activities from general long walks, to HIIT, sprinting, long-distance running, and even as a daily shoe. They have performed quite well in all of these situations. I refused to use them for any kind of power-lifting for obvious safety reasons. A few things came to mind when I opened the box and tried them for the first time. I'll start with the most obvious thing I noticed which was the lack of tongue and instead what I would describe as an ankle sleeve inside the shoe. I found this to be a very innovative design, very different from 99.9% of shoes that have a traditional tongue. The way in which it snugly wraps around the ankle inspires a sort of confidence and reduces any excessive play inside the shoe (especially at high speeds). I found this also beneficial for longer or more intensive activities where compression helps in reducing pain and improving recovery. The only downside here was the increased difficulty of putting on the shoe. I wouldn't say that it was hard, but a little more focus and attention was required to get it on correctly. I like to just slip on and GO! Next I would point to the laces which have a rough, almost spiky, texture to them. I'm usually a double-knotter but with this choice of lace I was confident that a simple bow was sufficient. Most of the time it was and I'm good with that. The overall fit was as close to perfect as I've experienced. The size 10.5 that I received fit my 10.5 feet exceptionally well. I didn't feel any pressure points and my toes didn't feel squished together in the toe-box. I tested with a number of different socks and had no issues. There was no break-in period. When first using the shoe I noticed something very cool about the sole. Aside from the nice dense foam with good feedback with a spot-on stack height and drop, I felt as though my feet were being angled slightly. What I mean is that I could feel my instep arches being slightly closer to the ground. A lot of the time I find that shoes feel very flat when rolling off the toes whereas these put way more emphasis on the big toe and ball of the foot. This is hugely ideal for sprinters (such as myself) and results in a) a reduction of surface area contacting the ground when going fast and b) focusing forces to the ball of the foot instead of spreading them out between other toes. In testing, these shoes were up there with some of my track shoes. It feels like and is a very fast shoe. The construction and materials are top notch, the fit is great, they work for a number of activities and excel at those which the shoe was made for (speed). I love the innovations and attention to detail. I will certainly keep these in my rotation. I would recommend these shoes most for: marathoners, casual runners, and sprinters that want an alternative to spikes.

I purchased having run in the original Hyperion Max, loving that shoe. As my running has turned from distance to a mix of speed/distance, the Hyperion Max 2 has been awesome. It's a stiffer with the speedvault plate, but nothing crazy. Very enjoyable shoes!

I am really enjoying the Max 2s. This is my first pair. I usually wear Adrenaline GTS, but these may be my new go-to. They are lightweight and supportive. I've been able to use them for both slow and fast, short and long runs.

After about a month of casual wear to "break in" the shoes, I did my first organized 10k in these and absolutely loved the run. I'd give detailed feedback but I honestly didn't even notice the shoes. But that's how I think shoes should be and would definitely buy them again!

My running journey started March of 2024. 2 years before this mt doctor suggested I take my heart fort a brisk walk. The first year it was once a week and the second year twice a week. The third year they suggested 3 times a week and that's when I felt that I might be able to run. The 1st 2 weeks weren't pretty as I'd run 100' and walk a 100' feet for 2 miles. Then I bought a pair of the Ghost 16's and never looked back. I prefer to run at the colder temperatures between 20F and -5F. Any of the shoes in the Brooks lineup will be a great shoe. Just ask a lot of questions to make sure you get the ones that are comfortable for you. Someday hopefully I'll be able to get a pair of the Elite 4 shoes and take them out for a run. Pun intended. The Hyperion Max 2 are amazing shoes. I usually run in either Hyperions {1st generation and 2nd ) or Adrenaline GTS 24, 2 pair ) for recovery runs. I have an arsenal of Brooks shoes, 12 pairs to be exact. I enjoy everything about the Brooks shoes and won't run in any other shoes.

Absolutely love these shoes. Just did a significant portion of my marathon training and actual race in these and had a fantastic experience. They felt fast, while avoiding significant forefoot pain that I have dealt with in the past. Historically I was not a fan of high stack, or excess foam, however these shoes have changed my mind.

I was eying these shoes for a good while before buying them. I've heard nothing but great things about them. Also, the colorway is BEAUTIFUL. After what feels like forever, I finally bit the bullet and made the purchase. Wasn't the best time to, but I did. And today I decided to test them out. I normally wear a size 8, but with running shoes, I know now to always order half a size up. I ordered these shoes in a size 8.5. When I put them on, and took a few steps in them, I knew I was going to like them. I was super excited to test them out today. Ran 4 miles and they felt great!! If anything changes, I will update my review. But I think I'm going to love these shoes.

I was initially concerned about getting this shoe, as I have wide feet of the 2E variety and these shoes only comes in the standard narrow width. However, after receiving it and wearing it for a short break-in tempo run and eventually using it for the 2025 Honolulu Hapalua half-marathon, I was pleasantly surprised that the standard narrow width did not affect my feet at all! It felt super comfortable, especially for a carbon plated shoe (did not get any bruised/black toenails). What I was also pleasantly surprised too was that if I wanted to activate the carbon plate for speed, I'd lean forward during my run and boom! My pace would significantly increase without further effort. If I got tired, I'd pull back my run gait and utilize the "Max" aspect of the shoes. The shoes would automatically convert into a max cushioned running shoe without feeling the carbon-plate activation. Amazing stuff! Of course, this is what I felt when using these shoes and it may vary for everyone. However, I do highly recommend this shoe, if you want to test it out. Great return policy! Enjoy!

Best road running shoe ever! My first time wearing the shoe I PR'd in the 10k and I had no hot spots or discomfort. This shoe is perfect! It is lightweight, while it provides an excellent heel lock. It has a smooth transition from heel strike to toe off. Great comfort with a springy heel off! Nice work Brooks!

I bought these to race a 10k, and they killed it today in my time trial. They are my first "plated" racers, so it was a new feel for me, but as someone who has owned many pairs of Brooks, it was also very familiar. They are comfortable and lightweight, with a surprising amount of support for a non "support" shoe (I normally buy GTS). They have a softer sole than I'm used to, but they are very springy and fast, especially at paces of 7:30/mile or faster. Highly recommend!

Bought these for a 10k road race, and they killed it in my time trial today. These are my first "plated" racers, so it was a new feel for me. But as someone who has owned many pairs of Brooks, the fit and performance were exactly what I was hoping for. The sole is softer than I'm used to, but they felt snappy and responsive, especially at paces of 7:30/mile or faster. There is also a surprising level of support for a non-"support" shoe (I normally buy GTS) and my feet, ankles, and knees felt fine after 6+ miles. Strongly recommend as an uptempo road shoe!

The Brooks Hyperion Max 2 is a serious upgrade for anyone looking to get more out of their speed sessions without sacrificing comfort. I've been using this shoe for tempo runs, intervals, and even longer effortsand it's quickly become one of my favorites in the lightweight trainer category.

1st Run and on a treadmill. I wanted to be careful with this shoe as I have not used a 6mm drop in a while and that shoe was a comfort shoe. This is not. It is a performance shoe. It was firm, but protective. Not harsh but not cush like a Glycerine max or some other brand super stack. This shoe moves you forward. It is not an aggressive rocker and I am glad. Most importantly. Almost all shoes that i have used aggravate my Achillies. No issues. None. Zip. The problems i had with the shoe: 1. Shoe laces came undone. I need to tie them better, that is on me. 2. Mild heal slipping. Wrong sock and i did not lock my shoe down well. Motion was good, and allowed me to keep my form but i will need about 20 miles total to get used to the drop. In summary. I LOVED THEM. Looks great. Makes me really want the hyperion 3 when it comes out.... This I think will be my marathon training and maybe race day shoe.

The Hyperion Max 2 is undoubtedly one of the best pairs of shoes I've ever owned. They noticeably improve cadence, and after some adaptation, I saw about a 10% increase in my average speed during my fastest workouts. However, I'm not entirely confident in their long-term durability, so I'm being mindful of mileage to ensure they're in top condition for upcoming races. In terms of comfort, they excelparticularly around the heel, where I usually experience issues with other shoes. One standout feature is the shoelaces, which I think are among the best Brooks has ever designed.

I just rode these to a 3 minute PR at the 2024 CIM. And I still have all my toenails. My only gripe is the rubber could use a little more grip. Running through the wet asphalt got a little interesting. But when running at speed the shoe promoted an efficient stride. The shoe locks down good without squeezing my foot. Great shoe.
