Had the speedgoat 3, 4, now the 6. True to the line: signature Hoka "roll" makes your feet want to run, one of the best lockdowns across the top of the foot in the industry (no toe jamming on descents), grippy and smooth running outsole (good for trails and roads), cushion that keeps your feet fresh for long efforts. Not quite as much heel lock as something like a topo and the forefoot can be a little cramped if you try to lace up tight for technical terrain but the speedgoat will always have a place in my quiver. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. The goat just worksroad, gravel, technical mountain, ultras and you're missing out if you've never tried them!

Deckers has absolutely ruined these shoes, after consumers including me loved the previous versions. Quality of materials and workmanship seems far lower than past versions, and mine started having issues in a couple months. Has cutting costs become Deckers priority, versus Hoka's original mission of building great shoes? After owning a couple dozen pairs, I will not purchase another pair of Hokas.

I purchased these shoes to compete in outdoor events where the weather doesn't always cooperate. So far we've had sun, rain, mud and slippery surfaces and the SG's handled them great. Very pleased with the results.

Great looking shoe with good cushioning. I ordered a wide shoe but unfortunately this shoe is still too narrow.

Every time Hoka releases a version of this shoe, the common complaint is they are too narrow!!! And this version is no different. Hey Hoka, if you're going to make them narrow then make a XW/4E version so people that need wides actually get wides. I guarantee XW would sell out as none of your competitors make them, yet everyone is screaming for them. Be a leader not a follower!!!

Been running in Speedgoats for years, but ran into tear-out challenges in mid-section with SG5 consistently with relatively low milage. Kudos to Hoka for listening and fixing this issue. My SG6 have 300+ miles on highly technical, rocky, rooty terrain, and are holding up like a champ. Thank you! Now let's get the DECK stock back on track!!

This shoe is one of the hardest shoes in my 58yrs I’ve tried to put on. The tongue is attached almost all the way to the top making it very tight. I can barely get my foot in with laces loosened up.

These are comfy and fit great, but they are loud to walk in. They are loud enough that people have commented on it so keep that in mind.

I have owned 4 pairs of Clifton and two Bondi and I've loved them all. These Speedgoat are not at all similar. They were incredibly uncomfortable for everyday wear and I was hopeful they would be more durable for coaching and outdoor recreational activities. They just are not comfortable.
In the process of trying to exchange. I'm hopeful that process will go well. Back to Cliftons

2 Problems:
1) The shoelace eyelet grommet is digging into my skin. I'm having to put 2 layers of tape on my skin and thicker socks to stop the pain.
2) The heel strap that you pull on when inserting your foot, ripped on Day 1.

I kept hoping they would break in or feel better. I've owned 10+ Speedgoats previously, and they were all perfect. Exactly the right balance of traction and cushion. The SG6s are a bit slippier inside and out, but the worst problem is that I find the shoe to be painfully stiff. With the prior versions, I could bomb down rocky CA trails like I was running with grippy pillows attached to my feet, and my joints never got sore even running ultras for hours. These SG6s feel like the opposite. I feel every pebble, and my joints are sore after a run. To be honest, I've had my SG6s too long now to return them. So, my fault for that. I'm really only leaving this review in the hopes that Hoka returns these icons to their tried and true design for SG7. In order to offset this negative review, I'll go drop a 5* review for the Clifton 9. They are amazing.

I've used the SpeedGoat 4 and 5 for several years. They were the perfect shoe - I could put them on fresh out of a box and use them with no break in period. The 6 is not that, and other reviews have covered why pretty well. I will never understand why a company takes a perfectly good and populate product design and makes drastic changes until it becomes a different product. I thought I wouldn't have to spend days of my time finding another perfect shoe, but unfortunately I do.

shoe has no support for fabric. bought these for trail running and there just mesh on the outside. It would be filled with dirt the minute I hit the trail. disappointed for the amount you pay for these. I really wanted to get excited to try them out, but there's nothing special about them. I don't get the hype.

These Speedgoats are garbage. The pull tab on both shoes tore out the very first time I put them on. I had heard nothing but good things about Hoka shoes and I am extremely disappointed. After talking to customer care I learned that I have to send my shoes what 1-3 weeks for an evaluation and then they'd send out a new pair. I can't go that long without running shoes. I asked if they could send a new pair out and when those arrived I could send my junk pair in and they refused. I even asked for some sort of online credit and I would just deal with the tab problem. Again they refused. I will never buy another Hoka product and when this pair fall apart shortly I will be buying something else. 100% garbage customer service.

Read a lot of negative reviews before purchasing the 6 and decided to give them a shot when I had chance to buy @ discount. I ran all 4 of 100's in SpeedGoat 5's right out of the box with nothing but success! Wore these 6's for a 25M training run with 5k of elevation gain. Last 3-5 miles my right foot was cramping and I never cramp! These shoes are MUCH firmer than my GOAT 5's and I thought I might like that @ 180lbs, but NO! They also felt a bit less stable because of the firmness. Today I tried them for a 70min HRZ2 cruise and my left calf was crampingI WILL NOT be running in these! Will use them for hiking as I prepare for my 200, maybe? I have 3 pair of 5's, but have moved on to Topo Ultra Adventure 4. They feel like my SG 5's, but with wider toe box which makes them more stable! Sad Day! Speedgoat has been my only trail racer!

I bought these shoes from a local retailer. I wore them once for a trail run and the heel counter in the left shoe dug into my ankle and caused a significant amount of pain post-run. I went through the process of returning them directly to Hoka with proof-of-purchase (I paid for shipping out-of-pocket). The return was within 90 days of purchase and I am a HOKA member. They ended up denying my return and shipping the shoes back to me.
