Shoes were great when I first bought them, but within 3 months they had stretched out soo much they started hurting my feet. Quality of uppers is horrible and I thought it was me on the first pair because they started out soo well but after it happened on the same second pair I'm sure it's the shoes quality

I bought these after a pair of Lone peak 8's. I don't know what happend with Altra but there shoes continue to dissapoint. As someone who has worn them from the start, they continue to go downhill.

I'm really sad about this product. I really wanted to love it. I have loved multiple pairs of Timp 4's - an excellent shoe that suffered from poor durability (or maybe more extreme workout than it was designed to handle). I was really looking forward to the more durable Vibram sole on the Timp 5. Regrettably, I wasn't prepared for the other "upgrades" that turned out to be "downgrades". Yes, the sole is excellent, however: 1) I loved the heel loop on the Timp 4, that really invited my to slip my finger in, and slide the shoe on. That easy feeling of slipping on the shoe beckoned me to get on the trail. On the Timp 5's, it's a twisted plastic shoelace thingy. Unpleasant, difficult to unravel and manipulate. Maybe that's a lighter implementation, where some of the 4->5 weight savings came in, but it's really a step backward. 2) The upper fabric on the 5 is unforgiving. It seems to have two sides - the outer mesh, and then a strange inner backing. That inner backing halts any breathability that the 4 had. Perhaps that's the intent - to make a waterproof shoe, but I prefer one that doesn't get as hot. If I want a waterproof shoe, I would shop for something other than a trail shoe. 3) Along with #2, it seems the fabric just isn't forgiving, or maybe the shoe in the same size became narrower in version 5. I find the v5 irritates my little toe. When I first tried the v4's I was astounded how much toe room I had - incredible! These new v5's feel like they're trending toward Nike fashion/pointy shoes. That's the opposite of the comfort I was expecting from Altra. 4) The plastic perimeter on the cloth upper has changed. On the Timp 4's they matched the stiffness profile I would expect for my toes. On the Timp5, there is a different design. Not sure what it was meant to accomplish, but it now puts pressure on my toes. I'm so sad. I really wanted to continue with Altra, having loved their Timp 4 series. I can't figure out what the Timp 5's were trying to accomplish ... too much at once without customer feedback step-by-step? What if there were simply Timp 4 with a durable sole? I don't care if the shoes looks worn after they're worn! I just want shoes that perform. I'd buy them again and again.

Had high hopes for this shoe, but was immediately disappointed. I didn't even get 2 miles in the stump 5 before the laminate around the toe cap started to come lose. Do not buy these.

As you can see from the included image, the shoe has started deteriorating after a mere 25 miles of use. I knew about Altra's reported durability issues, but I thought they may have fixed it with this latest release. I won't be purchasing an Altra shoe again, as they now have many competitors in the zero drop / wide toe box category who have superior performance and durability.

I've been running / hiking in the Timp / Lone Peak lineup since the Timp 3 and LP 4.5 and was looking forward to adding the Timp 5 to my rotation but the lack of consistency by Altra between shoe models and generations is BRUTAL. The Timp 5 is a full size smaller than my 3's or 4s. I would need to size up to a 16, which Altra does not have in this model, and is ridiculous since every other shoe I wear is a size 14). ZERO CONSISTENCY Altra! I love your shoes for the zero drop, but that's pretty much the only game you've got recently. Reliability and consistency are keys to great running / hiking shoes - the Timp 5 missed the mark. I will give credit to the Vibram sole and lug pattern, that's a win. I won't be able to enjoy it as yet another pair of Altras are headed back for return.

Was super excited and confident these would feel and fit like every other Altra I've had thus far. Confident to the point to where they were the first shoe I ordered without trying on first, but was extremely disappointed. They're painfully narrow compared to its predecessor. Honestly confused and skeptical as to where Altra was going with this shoe. These feel nothing like the Timp 4 much less like the same brand. Still in love with Altra as a whole, but not sure about the drastic change in fit and feel when it's usually their main selling point.

A week after purchasing I've worn them three times. Put them on this morning for the fourth time, and the rubberized guard around the to es separating. I had such high hopes after the redesign, and promise of increased durability.
