Vibram outsole! Fits my foot like the Superior, but with extra cushion and excellent grip. Gripped the wet board walks really well, outsole shed mud quick, zero blister/hot spots after 50 miles.

I've used Altra shoes for 9 years. I run on trails about 75% of the time and had mostly used Lone Peaks until now. I wanted a bit more stability and cushion, and the new Timp is perfect! I still like Lone Peak but will probably save these for the road and continue with Timps on trails. Great shoe!

Great hiking shoe! I have been on several hikes now with these shoes, and they gave me a good support! They also held up in the cold winter weather and mud very well.

The thick, sturdy midsole helps the shoe feel more protective over moderate terrain. I really love the energy of the EGO max foam! The upper is light and breathable, but also very protective. I'm pleasantly surprised that these shoes are a full ounce lighter than the Timp4s.

This shoe looks and feels great on the foot, I would recommend a half size down. Went for about a a half mile run the first day to break them in and feet felt great. Next day I went two miles and compared to my old 4s this shoe felt lighter and more resilient. I loved my old 4s and will probably still use them from time to time but the 5s just allowed to me to keep going without my feet hurting. Love the shoe, keep it up Altra!

I have used these shoes to run on trails and around town. The fit is amazing and the construction of the shoe is honestly one of the best I have ever experienced. I would 100% purchase these shoes again.

The Altra Timp 5 is a comfortable trail running shoe and is very stylish in the Dusty Olive color way. The construction feels very solid like it will last many miles and the Vibram outsoles are known for their quality. I received the Time 5's as part of a promotion to review, but wouldn't hesitate to recommend to friends or buy another pair in the future.

I love the Altra Timp 5 Trail Running Shoes. I was pleasantly surprised when I first put them on. First of all, they have great cushioning and flex. The soles have an excellent grip. I had no issues with traction on any of my runs. They are very comfortable and have good arch support. I plan on wearing these until they wear out. I highly recommend you give these a try if you haven't ever worn Altra's before. Overall, these are great shoes.

Shoe fits perfectly snug on my foot but leaves plenty of room around the toes which is nice.
As soon as i tried them on they fit comfortably and I didn't need any time to break them in.
I went for a run and saw immediate improvement on my mile time.
I definitely recommend these.

These Shoes are a great addition to my running regime throughout I felt great ankle support which is hard to find in a shoe that also has a great cushion. I have never had this brand before but will from now on. I would recommend this to any avid runner or someone just starting out

This sneaker is great. I run, hike, and put them through extensively straining conditions and they reign supreme. I would recommend this sneaker to everyone who likes comfortable shoe with sturdy stability.

Let's set this up for you...
I am 6' and weigh just just under 290 lbs. I am overweight, but I have a lot of muscle.
I walk 5 miles most days, especially outside of winter. (my average is 4.4 miles), so my shoes get quite a workout.
Why I bought Altra Timp 5?
Because of my size, I crush lowers before the uppers wear out. I wanted a shoe with a stiffer, more durable sole, but still comfortable. My son is an avid hiker and climber, and he suggested Altra.
What I like:
1. Wide toe box. As you can imagine, my foot is a little wide, but not wide enough for a wide shoe. The larger toe box works well for me.
2. The Vibram soles. They do not wear as fast as running shoes, but stil add cushion for comfort.
3. Minimal drop. I did not think that I would like this. I wear Hoka Clifton 9 or Brooks Ghost, and both have a decent drop.
4. Great versatile shoe. I wear these to work, to walk, and to hike. Note that I often wear a weighted vest to walk.
What I don't like:
The only issue I have is the fabric around the toe is separating where my toes flex on one of the shoes. (this is my first pair, I have not worn the new pair enough). This was after about 6 months of use.
I have found my new go to shoe. I plan on another pair of Timp 5, and then I will try the Timp 6.

No, I am not running in this shoe, but using it for walking and hiking on snow and ice. I like to wear grippy and light hiking shoes in the winter, and so far Timp 5 has met my expectations. But, winter is long... The black model is good for office and restaurant too. Comfy and warm. No idea how long the plastic cleats are going to last. My summer shoe, Lone Peak 9, only lasted 6 months, but that is OK.

I absolutely love these. Im currently on my 4th pair. But i do wish the sole was built more for hiking. I average about 250 miles per pair. The sole usual starts separate from the rubber after about 100 miles and i have to glue them back together. However I will continue to buy these because they are so comfortable.

I purchased these shoes to train for and run a 50k trail race. Altra's shoe finder feature recommended them. Since I already own several pairs of Altra road shoes, I wanted to try their trail shoes as well. I initially debated between the Timp 5 and the Experience Wild 2, weighing the differences between the zero drop and the 4mm drop. Ultimately, I decided to go with the suggestion from the shoe finder.
When the shoes arrived, I liked how they felt right out of the box and wasn't concerned about breaking them in. After a few shorter runs, I decided to wear them for my first long run of 14 miles. The shoes felt okay overall, but I had to stop a couple of times to adjust my heel, as it seemed to slide toward the inside (medial) side of the shoe. Nonetheless, I completed the run and felt good. Altra shoes appear to be a solid fit for me, and I appreciate the larger toe box compared to most other brands.
During my recent 16-mile run, which included a mix of technical, wet, rocky terrain and smoother gravel trails, I continued to feel like my foot was sliding inward (medially). This was odd, considering I own several other Altra shoes with no issues. I even checked to see if the inner cushioning was damaged. After finishing the run, I'm questioning whether these shoes are right for me at the moment. I mention "at the moment" because I'm unsure if the issue lies with the shoes or if I'm still adjusting to trail running in a zero drop. I appreciate the 30-day trial; however, I'm not sure if that will be enough time for me to fully determine if I need different shoes or just more time to adjust my body and technique.
I do appreciate the lightweight mesh upper; my feet tend to get hot, and these shoes seem durable and breathable. I've only had them for a couple of weeks, and after putting about 50 miles on them, they look dirty but still in new condition. Additionally, the color options are fun, which is great considering performance.
The outsole is very grippy, instilling confidence on wet, slippery rocks and providing traction on soft gravel and muddy trails, allowing me to climb hills without worrying about sliding.
I wear a size 10.5 in most running shoes, and I bought these in the same size, which fits perfectly.
A couple of additional notes:
1. I am likely to return these shoes and try the Experience Wild 2 instead. Although I'm disappointed the Wild 2 doesn't come with a Vibram outsole, I hope they still offer a grip comparable to the Timps.
2. When I contacted customer service to discuss the shoes, I found it off-putting to learn that it's a call center with limited information. I inquired about the return process and what happens to used shoes after they are returned, but they were unable to provide an answer. This is important to me, as I strive to be more sustainable in my role as an outdoor educator and guide.
3. While reading reviews on the Men's Experience Wild 2, I noticed that some reviews mentioned they were part of a promotion where Altra provided shoes in exchange for feedback. However, when I inquired about this program, they claimed there was no such initiative. I pointed out that specific reviews referenced it directly. The reviews themselves weren't very helpful, so I wanted to see if I could qualify as an outdoor professional who regularly recommends outdoor gear that I value. One of the key factors I consider when recommending gear is the quality of customer service. Although the 30-day test period is excellent, the customer service I experienced over the phone was lacking.
4. I plan to order the Men's Experience Wild 2 to compare them with the Timps. After a few runs, I will add a review to help others who are trying to decide between these options.

I've put maybe 40-50 miles on these so far and they've done well for light walking, sandy beach runs, and technical trail running. I definitely enjoy the feel, took a while to get used to the stack height compared to the lone peaks but that cushion feels really nice over longer runs. I didn't love that straight out of the box there was a bit of the vibranm tread coming loose, I messaged customer service and in lieu of replacing them all together I just used some loctite shoe glue and it works well now. Also, it does not have a rock guard so I know that the sole minus the vibram rubber treat will be eaten up if I keep doing trail runs, definitely wish it had a rock guard but the weight trade off is very nice. Overall very nice shoe, not sure if I'll get it again over some of their other trail shoes next time but it is nice.

I recently took my Altra Timp 5 shoes on a week-long trip to Disney World and Universal, and they performed incredibly well! The zero-drop design and cushioned Altra EGO MAX midsole kept my feet comfortable even after long days of walking and standing in lines. The grippy outsole handled everything from pavement to light trails with ease, and the breathable mesh upper kept my feet cool in the Florida heat.
The only downside for me was the fitI have wider feet, and while the Timp 5 has a naturally roomy toe box (which I love!), the midfoot felt a bit snug for my liking. If Altra offered a wide version, these would be absolutely perfect.
Overall, these are fantastic shoes for all-day comfort and support, especially for high-mileage adventures like theme park trips. If you have standard or slightly wide feet, they're a great choicejust consider sizing up or trying a different model if you need extra width. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a comfortable, lightweight trail shoe that works just as well on pavement!

Absolutely love this shoe, great midsole and outsole. I gave this shoe 4 stars instead of 5 because I feel the upper should be a more breathable material. Everything else about the shoe works perfectly from the ride, grip, and lockdown. It's very stable on technical terrain and very comfortable on the flat sections.
