Got these to replace my worn out lone peaks. I loved my lone peaks but felt they could use some extra cushion and they were also a bit wide for me. The timp 5 is definitely a bit narrower and has much better cushion. Just try em out if you don't like them return them. I did that twice already with no problem. At the end of the day every foot is different. As for me, I think the time 5 is great!

These are 100% perfect for me. Toe box width is perfect, heel support is better than anything else I've tried, laces stay tied, and tongue stays in place.

Sharp looking shoe. My husband says they are very comfortable with plenty of cushion. Nice wide, roomy toe box. He loves the vibram soles. Would purchase again.

The grip, the ride, the feel is so good these are my go to daily shoes as well as trail hiking shoes.
They do run a half size up for me but once I found the right fit I ordered another pair.
Happy to keep buying these

Needed a new pair after burning through my Lone Peaks for daily wear and walking. Use these for the same. Amazing amount of cushion without feeling unstable.

Ran the JFK 50 miler on the Appalachian Trail and while I dropped out 28 miles in, feet felt great and no blisters. Fast forward 10 weeks and I ran the Black Canyon 100k in Arizona. Developed two small painless blisters on each toe (one had already been forming on the Right foot). Big contrast with my friend who got his feet destroyed in the Hoka speedgoats.

These are my first pair of zero drop shoes and my first trail shoes. I really like how they fit and feel on the trail, I've enjoyed running in them immensely. The one downside is that part of the toe protection that extends along the outside of the shoe is starting to peel off after only 40 miles. I'm willing to give the shoes more of a chance before I issue a final judgement, but hoping that everything else holds up better.

Way better than the timp 4. I got these for a 3 month backpacking trip through Europe & they still look great. I've used them for hiking trails & city use. No problems with either. 9 miles day ave.

I've been in Altra's of one flavor or another for 6-7 years now. The Timp is my current favorite for long trail runs and the current version continues to work well for me.

I like this shoe, but it fits narrow and short. Next time I'll order a half size larger. This shoe eats up rough trails. I feel really confident with this shoe on rough trails. It does take some time to break it in and hit the sweet spot. Once that happens, it's a pretty comfortable shoe with great cushioning underneath. Can easily handle ultra distance runs. One improvement would be more volume up front.

I love the shoes. I had a pair and wore them out and now I purchased a second pair. Daily wear. Non slip and great traction for everyday use. I have also used them on numerous hiking trips and they are very versatile for all terrain

This is an excellent shoe - if you find the toe box of the Lone Peak a bit sloppy, these are a hint narrower. Plenty of cushion and still fast. Grippy outsole.

Ran a 50k with these shoes. Absolutely love the feel at my ankles and the toe room. Highly recommend for any runner. I lean toward going Altra with all my running shoes after enjoying this pair. Price is reasonable.

Although I've been longing for the Timp 2 since it went extinct, I have come to accept the newer renditions are just a bit of a different creature - and a great one at that. The 5s don't disappoint and are an improvement over the 4, in terms of responsiveness and tread. As some reviews remarked, they do feel a bit narrower than the 4s, but only ever so slightly so, and still a wider shoe that's accommodating to a foot shape. Overall I love them and lean on them for more technical trail runs, primarily.

Use them as hiking and backpacking shoes, 3-4 days of light use to break them in, than a 3
day backpacking trip with substantial load, few days later a SAR trip, and a day hike. Great shoes. No hot spots, great room for my wide feet and toes and nice support. I usually wear boots with my heavy pack so was pleasantly surprised.
Seem little tight first through the middle of my feet first, especially around the top, but went away after couple days of light wear.
Only issue is the loop on the back. Could be slightly bigger to allow a finger to go through, would allow shoes to be put on a lot easier.

This is my 3rd Timp model. It can handle anything from short rehab jogs to super technical 50k runs. No reason to try a different shoe, the Timp is it!

I use them mainly for work but am on concrete and dirt both a lot. I have a couple of pairs of the Timp 4 and love them. I have custom orthotics that fit well. Part of the reason for this Altra model. I have almost blow out 1 pair of Timp 4s but will wear them until they are dead! Great shoes!!! Great cushion!!!

I have been running for 56 years. I have seen the development of all shoes from all brands. For me, the Timp 5 is one of the best shoes I have ever used. It just feels like running. It feels like hitting the trails. I know other runners have had issues with the Timp series, but for me, this is just an excellent shoe.

May be the most comfortable shoe I've owned. 3-8 mile daily hike/trail runs and the shoes are holding up well and are a pleasure to wear. I'm more of a diesel than a gasser and these shoes hold up to the 260lb thrashing I give them regularly here in the wilds of Montana. Bottom line quality, comfort, and Altra has great customer service.

I keep coming back to the Timp again and again. This version is fantastic! It feel light, the cushioning is sufficient to smooth out even on the gnarly stuff and the shoe is comfortable overall.

This version of the Timp is so good. I am a huge fan of Altra and a huge fan of the Timp shoe over the years. I've been running in them since the 1.5, and the updates with the version are the biggest improvement yet. Favorite feature is the Vibram sole - awesome. Great grip, great mud shedding, durability is awesome so far. Happy to see a Vibram on the Timp I hope they keep using it for years to come. Midsole took a few days to break in, feels great now. Upper is bomber and super comfortable. Couple hundred miles in and no complaints at all
