I have the Lone Peak Hiker, which fits perfectly. I was hoping that the Lone Peak 8 would fit similarly, but the area in the upper middle part of the sneaker (between the toe box and upper laces) is too narrow - as if the toe box tapers too narrowly. It sort of feels like the arch of my foot does not match with the arch of the sneaker. Toe box, heel, etc are perfect, though.

I have owned and loved two previous pairs of lone peak 6 and 7. I got the lone peak 8 in the same size I've always worn and the toe box isn't as roomy and the shoe feels uncomfortable compared to my old lone peaks I'm very disappointed and have to return them.

I was disappointed in my recent purchase of lone peak 8. I immediately noticed the difference in comfort. They are very stiff and actually made my feet hurt after wearing them a couple of days. I know I wont be able to return them now, and unfortunately, I'll have to wait before I can buy a different pair of sneakers.

Super disappointed in these shoes, I would not consider the toe box to be that wide and the outer material was very stiff and made the show really uncomfortable. I returned the shoes.

These Altra 8 feel very stiff and narrower than my 7s. I will try next size up.

Have been running/backpacking/working with the lone peak's for years now. And absolutely love the Lone Peak. I wear it at work as an RN. I run half marathons in these shoes. I backpack in this shoe. I trail run in this shoe. The lone peak 8 feels different out of the box from prior versions, and not in a good way. A side by side of wearing my broken in lone peak 7s has me saying, "why does my broken in 7 have more cushion than my brand new pair in the 8?" Prior to buying a few reviews mentioned this, and I agree. Do I still love the lone peak for its fit, negative drop and trail performance, yes. My ask Altra is: please bring back the cushion of the foot bed in versions past. This particular foot bed insert is distinctly more stiff with less cushion. With intentions to trail run in some rocky terrain, this is not ideal. While I would not recommend the 8 to a friend, I would recommend the 7.

Purchased the 8.5 wide, which fit my feet well (medium width is too narrow for me, even with the original footbed). Liked the overall fit and look of the shoe, but the soles were surprisingly hard- it didn't feel like there was any cushion to them at all. Ultimately returned them.

I love the women's superior 5 as a walking shoe. It is no longer on the market. As a 70 year old, I walk 5 miles everyday and find my shoes to be extremely comfortable, They are so comfortable that I would walk even further if I had the time. It's disappointing that Altra no longer offers a shoe that is lower to the ground with less rubber. Please bring back the style that has less sole/rubber, wide toe and where the toe is closer to the ground. I want to buy my the superior 5 again and not a hard HOKA looking shoe. Thank you so much

Dude what is up with these color choice?? Have the Lone Peak 6's and they are great. Desperately need a new pair, but the 7's were terrible color choices and the 8's are even worse.

Took a great, comfortable straight out of the box product and turned into a stiff Frankenstein shoe with terrible heel slippage. Please bring back what made this shoe great for years!!!

I am extremely disappointed with the Altra Lone Peak 8 sneakers. Within a month of light use (no running, as I've been taking a break), the mesh on the sneakers started falling apart, and the tread wore out completely. For such an expensive pair of shoes, this level of quality is unacceptable.
To make matters worse, when I contacted Altra within their return policy window, they refused to honor an exchange or refund simply because I purchased them through a third-party retailer. Instead, they offered me a $30 couponhardly a consolation for shoes that became unwearable in just a month.
I expected better quality and customer service from a brand with such a high reputation. Where is the integrity in standing behind your product? I regret this purchase and would caution others against buying these shoes. If you're investing in premium footwear, look elsewhere.

I love my Alta Lone Peak 5. They fit like a glove. This version feels like a completely different shoe, and I am so sad. I will try a half-size down, but I don't have high hopes.

So I absolutely loved the 7's. The new 8 is fantastic unless you want to go up any hill or mountain. The heal is freakin huge and meant for fat people with big ol ankles and heals. Theres no nice way to say this Im sorry. They took out the heal cup. I mean if thats 90% of the market for all shoes these days then they have to accommodate. Chunky people need shoes too it just makes me sad. I have a wicked wide toe box and a narrow heal as any long term athlete would and should have. The lone peak 7 was like the original altras. Please dont take my heal cup away, ugh altra. Have a shoe for athletes.

The toebox on these is so low volume I had to send them back. I'm really sad because I've worn out my last lone peaks (a few years old with a separate stitched toepiece) and can't wear any altras anymore because the toe boxes are all so low-volume and stretchy. They all push on my big toes/toenails and are so uncomfortable.

I've worn lone peaks across Patagonia, through the Dolomites and even for the entirety of the John Muir Trail. They've been my absolute favorite show due to the wide toe box. Over the years Altras have continued to get narrower and narrower. I can't even wear the newest model if I go up 2 sizes. I'm bummed they've made such drastic changes to a shoe that got such a positive following amongst backpackers in its early iterations.

Have the Lone Peak 5 and ran it to dust. This outsole is much more narrow (I need a wide trailer runner!), material is stiff, and the color choices for us wide babes are TERRIBLE, EVERY TIME.

The Lone Peak 5's are the best shoe I've ever had. What happened? I tried both the 7's and the 8's, and they're awful. Somehow these squeeze my feet and I kiss the old upper material. These were an immediate return. Glad to see some color coming back to the shoes, but please, please go back to 4's, 4.5's, and 5's. Call them 9's and 10's if needed, but please bring them back. I can't find any shoes that compare to them.

I have been an Altra fan for years with the LP 6 being my favorite. I recommend Altra to anyone who will listen and converted many folks over from other brands. I tried the LP 8 and was so disappointed. They were stiff and uncomfortable. I had to return them. You already had what many considered the perfect shoe. Please stop fixing what isn't broken. Bring back the Lone Peak 6 (women's)
